Evolutionary RPG Game

Neat idea, wonder if there will be a way to revert to each previous gfx mode...

(or if the game itself will be any good)

Hah, I've thought of this before.... Didn't think anyone would actually put it into play. Seems like a lot of excessive work in terms of content.

Wasn't there a game that did this before? I can't remember the name but you could addon menu systems and things (which were found in the game) and turn it from 8bit styled gameplay into something more modern?

Well there was DLC Quest but it wasn't graphics-related, really.

didnt paper mario on gamecube do something like that? you could go from 2d on one part, hit a door or something and go to 3d. its still a neat idea. i would be quite tempted to play this, though i havent played any type of rpg besides star wars Kotor, tor, and wow in over 10 years.

Well Paper Mario just did 2D to 3D, while this game changes from the old school rpgs to newer style rpg with new combat systems.

Now, a game that did this before. I don't know. Maybe someone created such a thing with RPG Maker. Not that I've ever used RPG Maker, so I don't know if it can be done with that program.

Looks cool. But back in the day an RPG by definition was turnbased. Zelda and such games were called adventure games. It wasn't until the mid-90s that the term RPG was redefined to be pretty much anything where your characters had a background story and stats.

This reminds me of a flash game I played a while back called upgrade complete.
You can play it here.

Not the same game play style but a lot of fun. Just as I'm sure Evoland will be as I'm a sucker for RPGs.

I "evolved" to sixteen colors and I couldn't see shit!

Too bad you can't reverse-evolve around buggy mutations :(
