Earbuds for working out

Anyone recommend earbuds for an iPhone 4S for working out - weight lifting more than anything? I have Sennheiser CX300's for my laptop and the standard Apple earbuds but I'd like to get a bluetooth earbud set. If that's not an option, then the next best thing would be nice.

I searched a few places but the recommendations are all over the place and one site reviews one pair highly and another site reviews the same pair poorly. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you really want earbuds, especially for weightlifting?
IMHO the best workout headphones would be the clip-on Koss KSC-75. Great sound and the clip on nature keeps them on your ears without getting annoying like in ear does.

I'd prefer earbuds as they fit comfortably in my ear canal. ]

I'll take a look at the Koss KSC-75.

I would suggest moving from buds to IEMs, as they will give you a superior sound for your dollar, and since they are in-ear you will not need to worry about them falling out.

But first:

What is your budget?
What type of music are you going to be listening to?

Cheers,

No real budget per se but not outrageously expensive either. No more than $100.

I'd be listening to mainly Di.fm streams.

eh, purchased some dre's for 99 bucks and use the cone buds for secure placement and less noise loss. They sound good but I know they're hyped.

I do like the red accents though.

If you're willing to try IEMs, there are a few options you should look at:

1) Vsonic GR-06 which are pretty highly reviewed:

2) Klipsch Image S4 or X10(used)

And I'm sure there are many others...Check out head-fi, they may be able to give you some more help.

Cheers,

Just bought the Vsonic GR-06 off of eBay so I'll see how they are. Thanks for the recommendations.

I use these:

Panasonic RP-HJE350-K SLIMZ In-Ear Earbud Headphones.

They are cheap, sound good, stay comfortable even on long workouts, and aren't expensive. I went through four pairs of $50 Skullcandy headphones (replaced them under warranty 4 times at Best Buy) in under a year, broke them every time. These have been in use for 6 months now and still work and sound good as new and the cables haven't broken or fallen apart like on my others. If you tuck them under your shirt while you lift that fixes that problem with headphone cables, btw.

The golden rule to understand with IEMs is that an IEM costing five times as much is not five times more durable. With that in mind, I say, get the Monoprice MEP-933, and get a pack of Sony Hybrid eartips. That way, you get good sound quality, and you can see how long a pair of earphones last with the way you handle them.

Here's a review (index number 3C21): http://www.head-fi.org/t/478568/mul...ared-fischer-audio-dba-02-mkii-added-03-25-12

The same, except I'd also recommend the Kanen KM-92 - I like them.... in fact I like them so much I bought five sets just to keep around as spares. I can't decide if I like the monoprice ones as much... mainly due to the fact that they are mildly uncomfortable no matter what tip you use.

Use whatever headphones you want (I like my MEElectronics A151 IEMs) and plug them into this:

It comes with some IEMs, but you can toss them if you have something better.

This, imo. I went from a pair of old CX300s to some MEElec M9P's and it was a nice budget upgrade (comes w/plenty of tip choices, I've been using the double flanges), I've used them occasionally w/a similar Bluetooth module (tho not for exercise, mostly while traveling so it's not a hassle to pull my phone out w/the headphone cord dangling, etc.). MEElec has a ton of newer models between $20-60 that are a pretty good value.

For exercise I use a pair of old Koss IEMs that used to be recommended at HeadFi (the original Marshmallows I think) mostly because I don't wanna ruin my M9, even tho they were only like $30 and now go on sale for $15 all the time. :p They use the foamy style tips (more like plugs) rather than the silicon ones, and they've held up well to sweat and even some occasional rain when I go running.

I've also used a pair of the Koss KSC75 clip-ons mentioned before, they're an amazing value but fit is hit or miss. If you fiddle a little with the bendable clip you can get 'em pretty tight against your ears tho, and they're probably much safer than IEMs for outdoor exercise.
