I've been a little bit worried about Dragon Age, because I've been waiting for it for five years, and my expectations are so high that it wouldn't be difficult for me to be letdown (especially since I've just finished playing two games that are now on my list for potential best game of 2009 - namely: Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Risen).
Any fears that I had have now been allayed - because of this video.

No spoilers here, really. It's just gameplay footage by a kind of goofy guy who's just playing through the game like a normal person would. (Note what he says about the top-down isometric view: he said he was convinced, being an old time RPGer, that he was going to play from the top down view, but found, to the contrary, that the low-down, in-close view was more practical, and better looking. This guy plays the game exactly how you're 'supposed' to play a game like this... he pauses a lot, and switches the camera around a lot.) (And yes, he does play low down, and yes it actually does work, and yes it does look amazing! You can really see the detail of the rooms inside that church building... and man is it ever smooth!)
The one word that strikes me here is - polished.
Just look at the level-up screen. It's in the form of a beautiful book, and it looks incredibly detailed. The engine looks nicely optimized as well. Also, there's word that Dragon Age will be available on Steam, which will be great if you want Dragon Age right away.
By the way, the guy playing the game is pretty cool - but his buddy is irritating (hey, just like my buddy!)
