yeah i haven't painted the door yet--Once it's painted I'll make another custom decal with the UAC logo and slice it into sections. Thanks for the support people! :)

is that going to be a theme for a third-party shell like litestep? or a theme for a skinning software like stylexp? looks realllly awesome.
 
I could NOT get the touch screen to work--i will have to call tech support on Monday :confused: :mad:

here is the UI in it's current state of development. The resolution is incredible, the color amazing--Lothar you'd love it. When the app opens, we get a video sequence of our Mars City hero in action:

Then he stops to open his PDA, and the interface begins--its really an awesome, clean transition--but was too quick for me to capture on camera:

The UI is now up. with icons on the left, they bring up applications, vwebcams, web pages audio files, video files, credits. You can also restart the opening sequence. very nice:

that is pretty sweet...too bad the touch screen doesn't work....but this mod is insanity...amazing job so far, crim
 
Oh my dear lord that theme is nice.......as nice as the rest of the mod is....this LCD adaptation is my favorite part so far.
 
My astonishment is multiplied extensibly as this thread grows and grows. I can not express my wonderment and awe at your uber1337 skillz and can only offer my eighth and ninth unborn child as a token of my amazement. The first seven have already been taken, although I may be able to dig up a couple minions for you.

I would like to see an indepth article on that UI and LCD which includes how it's made, implemented and used. I know I am not alone in thinking of picking up a secondary small monitor and running something on it. A real useable program to do stuff would be nice and touchscreen just makes it that much better.

If possible, I would also like to see some pics of your workshop and the tools you use. Perhaps a little HowTo or Guide on a good workshop and how to manage and organize parts and tools. Having the right tools really helps in detailing and making nice mods and since Piss Poor Preparation makes for Piss Poor Performance, being prepared with a good workshop and the right tools really helps. Or maybe you already have one written up and you're just waiting for the right time to release it.

I can't help you with the LCD, but to anyone wanting to make an UI like the one I've built for Crimson, all I can say is to look at the sponsors I've placed in this thread, buy their products and just experiment...that's the main thing.

Software used so far:

Doom3 (duh - thanks for a great game, John. It was worth the wait.)

Flash MX Professional 2004

Sorenson Squeeze (the only way to compress video for Flash)

mdm Flash Studio Pro v2 (magical wizard's tool, can make virtually anything when coupled with Flash)

There was no documentation on the LCD at all--I'll have to contaqct them for installation instructions for the touch screen :confused:

I've got software that does that. :) It lets you make a shortcut on the desktop (or anywhere) and when you click on it it'll open the CD drives, you have to have another shortcut for it too close though. ...or I could just use the following command:

driveLetter = "e";

But hey, who wants to do it the easy way? :p

If you read my post about the hinge before reacting, you'd see that my whole comment was an homage to how fantastic this project is! (sarcasm is a lost art) I knew Crimson would never leave something so glaringly obvious on this mod, and I figured he had something in the pipe to fix it, and as seen in today's post update, I am once again humbled by Crimson's creativity and effort. Crim... you have a LOT of staunch supporters here, ready to rush to your defense, thanks for coming to mine! Glad you understood that no offense was intended.

Cool. telling us about your -sore dissapointment- (and only that) in your post is what did it ;) I don't intend to live up to anyone's expectations with any of my work--this stuff is for me and me only--but it's nice to be appreciated and I'm glad that people are enjoying it--thanks again! :D

I'm working on a screensaver based off of some screenshots Crim's given me. Right now, I've got 4 targets I'm trying to hit:

1) On Idle... Animation (screensaver mode)
2) Inject System Sounds
3) Add more video/effects
4) Finalize core functions

I'll keep you guys posted on how it's cooking as I can.

That touchscreen interface is awesome.

PS - anybody know why for a few hours yesterday the URL to HardOCP was some online pharmecy thing? :confused: Was trying to check out the latest on the Doom 3 Case mod here and instead I got some pharmecy site. :(

anyway Crim, I really like the LCD blast door design. Looks to be sweet...somehow I don't think I'd be able to fab stuff up like that for myself. Hope you can get the touchscreen working...would be a shame to have it available and not be able to use it. keep us posted
