In a spiritual sense of course.

Yeah, I was referring to Doom 3. Didn't try the 2016 game. I hadn't planned on it, but you guys all seem to be saying it's worth taking a look.
Yeah, I was just using DOOM to test this Alienware headset. WOW. I actually bought the soundtrack as well.Masterpiece, and the soundtrack is "Oh My God" worthy. Although if you don't care for that kind of music then its a bummer.
I'm definitely in for any Doom game. Thought 2016 was pretty great. I just wish they'd go back to a a creepier aspect like Final Doom and Ultimate Doom. I loved the Playstation 1 version best because of the creepy, unsettling music that had you creeping around every corner scared of what was going to pop out. That was my gripe with Doom '16, you'd creep along, then the heavy metal music would start and you'd be ambushed by 1000 demons at once. You kill them all then creep along to the next spot where the heavy metal music starts and you're ambushed by 1000 demons. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game and have replayed it a couple times now but I wish they could make another game that captures the atmosphere of the Playstation version of Doom and Final Doom.
My favorite was this one on the Mount Erebus level. Creepy ass music with distorted babies crying in the background.

What's to be confused about? The splash screen in the teaser in the first post of this thread says "DOOM ETERNAL." Kyle added the "hell on earth" descriptor because that's what the setting is.I'm confused. Is it DOOM Eternal or Doom Hell on Earth? I don't really like the former and obviously I love the second but that's already the name of DOOM II.
I enjoyed DOOM 2016 myself, though I can't say I enjoy it the way I enjoy the originals (and I still play on original DOS hardware). DOOM 2016 felt more like a Serious Sam style wave runner to me, which is great and I love me some Serious Sam, but it just doesn't have that high octane feeling of the originals, and sorely lacks the Romero level design.
Anyway, as long is they don't wreck DOOM with politics like they have with Wolfenstein, I'll be buying it.
I just want the classic doom 1 and 2 levels redone with today's tech. Same secrets and all. Make it a DLC to Eternal once we beat it.

Also, MachineGames is a completely different developer based in Sweden, and we know how cucked Sweden is.
Not knocking their abilities as developers, just explaining their social commentary slant. As long as you put out a good product I couldn't care less about your opinions on social and political issues, but I'm still going to point it out.Machine games is made up of ex-Starbreeze people though, and they've made a lot of cool games. Enclave, Riddick, etc.

Norway.Thank you. It managed to fly right over my head. Lol.
Poor Sweden. Where is Odin when you need him..
Norway.
Doom 2016 was my GOTY.
But will it have true co-op multiplayer (not that failure snap map garbage)?
The MP isn't actually bad at all. It didn't start off all that great, but it's perfectly fine now. I just doubt anyone is still playing it at this point. I haven't tried. The problem was that they farmed it out before release. After a bit, they took it back over, fixed things, added things, and it actually turned out great. Just a shame it wasn't released that way in the first place, or it would have been more popular. I also wouldn't say it wasn't the GOTY for 2016 just because of the MP half. The SP was exemplary.
Did they change out the maps for new ones? Because that was the bulk of the problem, along with poor weapon play balance and cheaters (the parts you say they fixed).
Unless you rip out the uninspired, rushed MP-only maps and start over, no number of smaller tweaks will fix the broken game.
They added maps though they were in DLC packs. I believe they also added play styles that had floor pickups for weapons, etc. However, I only hopped into a few matches after some of the changes were announced, and didn't really get a feel for some of it. It felt better overall, but I couldn't tell you how it is now. The last time I played it was a big improvement though. I don't really have a lot of time to play MP games right now. I'd love to hop in though and give it a try again soon. The changelogs after id took it back were huge. The problem I have, is that I typically would play this sort of thing LAN only, so without dedicated servers, it loses something for me specifically. I still play Q3A and Q4 multiplayer with my kids because I can toss up a server on a whim, and we're playing immediately without internet randomites. I do think you can set up private matches in Doom 2016 now, but haven't tried.
It was MY GOTY.No, it's not GOTY because the multiplayer sucked even worse than Doom 3 (if that was even possible). This is from ID, the former kings of multiplayer DM.
It was a solid single-player game, but not worth more than the $40 I paid for it through Amazon.
DOOM Eternal will support Ray Tracing
As Marty Stratton said when asked about RTX:
“RTX makes it look, you know, amazing. There are great benefits but it doesn’t necessarily expand our audience or that the way that the way that something like Stadia does so, but absolutely people can look forward to DOOM Eternal and id Tech 7 supporting ray tracing. Absolutely. I mean we love that stuff, the team loves it and I think we’ll do it better than anybody honestly.”
If there's one person (and team, by inference) I want to see tinker with raytracing, its Tiago Sousa. He / they really know how to wring performance out of a system.
