It uses a Power PC chip if I remember correctly.

As in the same Power PC chips (at least from the same manufacturer) that Apple used to use before they switched to Intel (and now ARM based chips)

The IBM-made PowerPC-based CPU codenamed "Gekko" used in the Gamecube was a custom chip made specifically for the Gamecube. IBM did make the line of PowerPC processors used in the line of Apple products known as "G3." Gekko is close to the 750CXe, but its custom instruction set and memory interface prevents it from being interchangeable with the processors used in Apple products.
