I always wonder this for dev kits in general. Even if it is typical pc hardware with a few custom pieces it would still be nice to see.

I was able to find a bunch of pictures of the dev kits online but none that showed what's inside of it.

The IBM-made PowerPC-based CPU codenamed "Gekko" used in the Gamecube was a custom chip made specifically for the Gamecube. IBM did make the line of PowerPC processors used in the line of Apple products known as "G3." Gekko is close to the 750CXe, but its custom instruction set and memory interface prevents it from being interchangeable with the processors used in Apple products.
