I would like to try to understand something....

There have been 2 folks here in as many days that are unhappy for one reason or another and threaten to stop folding. What does this accomplish? Who are you spiting by quitting....the poor little kids dying of cancer, the mothers, the fathers, the grandparents and alike? I can understand that you may be upset, but please for the love of god, don't stop helping a worthy cause.

Unless there is something I am missing here...someone please enlighten me.
 
I only know of reasons TO fold.... I know no reasons to ever quit....

Hands off the QMD 's deal, thats a major deal for the corp/school folders out there. FAH is off all mt production machines until....well for I don't know how long.

That's a major issue not being able to control which WU's end up where/not have ability to limit WU types.

Yea, I know it works 99.9% of the time (WU assignments) but that's not gonna cut it for me and my job.
 
I don't get it either Moose. How does it effect Kyle that someone quits folding? It only hurts the people who are suffering. I'm loyal to the end. You can't agree with everything someone says, but you go on with you life.

 
Really, considering how little effort one could put in to it and still fold on some level, there's very little reason to quit. Maybe corporate farming isn't a good option for some but home farming at the least should never be given up if you are able. Just like EVERYTHING else in the world, F@H isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better thing to do than doing nothing at all. :eek:

The names shall remain unknown....but I have been privy to some info over the past 2 days and itjust seems like people like to use that fact that they fold as leverage...

Ah it's up to them if they want to fold or not, obviously I feel they should... but it's their choice, and they shouldn't use it as leverage, since there is really no reason to use it as leverage "I'm not going to fold anymore!!!" "So what?"
 
and when one of their family members comes down with a rare incurable form of cancer....theyll remember of some stupid BS reason they quit folding, and theyll have to wonder.....what if....

keep on folding, i got about a half dozen machines around work folding.....all my home machines are down for about a week....upgrasding the entire network...

If someone is pissed at the [H]orde or something, I don't really care if they quit the team. I see no reason to quit folding, though. We do know of some that left the team and went to others. There have also been some that left the team and fold anonymous. That's fine considering you are still folding. I'll try and find a way to pick up at least some of the slack as far as the team is concerned.

As far as quitting folding completely? I do not understand it at all.

I do understand that the QMD problem is something major for borgs and stuff at workplaces. There is nothing I can or will say to defend against what happened with that fiasco. It's something that should never have happened.

I prefer to keep everyone we have on the team that wants to fold within the rules and get as many new people as possible to join. But I'm not going to fight over someone that wants to use folding as a leverage of some sort. As far as the team is concerned, you are not part of it in any way, shape or form in my opinion and we are better off without you.

its only 3 machines, and i have very little time to work on em.....average of 2 MAYBE 3 hours per nite....and now that the bf2 patch just came out...that might set me back somewhat. hoping ill have them all back up by the weekend......and im just bein a lazy st0ner, i could haVe had my main server b0x back up last nite, but i just got all the hardware installed, and made sure it booted up and posted.....then said ok thats enough, ill do the rest of that one tomorrow....today is tomorrow and bf2 patch is out, and i doubt ill mess with reinstallin tonite...

Seriously, if people are going to be like that, maybe they SHOULD leave. Keep folding if you will, thats great for science, but I want no part of your points.

I'm not sure if it's a trend AtomicMoose, it's sad though to hear that someone would use folding as leverage. :(

I'm folding for the cause, and will continue to fold indefinitely until there comes a point when cancer is cured or something bad happens to me. If cancer is cured I'll find another worthy health related project that I can help.

Nothing too unusual about that. Most of my networked machines were down last weekend. Upgraded the fileserver (from a P3-450 :p), swapped out a GF2MX for a Ti4200 in the torrent/ripping/game server and just generally compressed air blasting everything (HTPC, main PCs, etc.)

Fixed is all fine and good, but this is supposed to be production quality software! Why did this happen in the first place? That's what gets me.

I won't quit, though. Might play a little more Quake 2, though.

Dont worry, I'm not going anywhere especialy after that 960 point update you just had. I cant let you get away with that.:mad: You better watch your back though, I'll be upgrading one of my boxen from a P3 600 to a P3 733 in few days. 600 pointers here I come!
