We're going to be able to sell entire characters on Diablo 3. Cue Judas Priest - Breaking The Law.

I'm still unsure about the whole lack of skill points/attributes that can be manually assigned thing. The value of character's is really only going to be the value of the items on their backs. A lvl 60 of one class is literally identical to any other lvl 60 of the same class aside for name and items.
Shit's gonna get crazy, quick on Diablo 3. The thing seperating those who just make some money and those who get rich as hell is going to probably depend on the right tools (ie mods) used on the auction house.
I don't know much about how D3 handles level up's but if it's as you describe, with no stat points, it's a welcome change to me. I don't like games where you can build "templatable" clases, ie., following a spefic guide to invest so many points in certain spot. You just wind up with people following guides instead of being creative themselves. Plus if you mess up due to not following the guides, you can really gimp your character.I'm still unsure about the whole lack of skill points/attributes that can be manually assigned thing. Doubtful. This is going to be more comparable to eBay that the WoW auction house. When it costs money to put up an item for sale that immediately weeds out the vast majority of shit that would be posted. I think some common thing will settle into a reasonable baseline (gold, for example, depening on gold find items) but since all of the items that can go on the AH are essentially random with random attributes, there should not be much undercutting wars going on in D3 simply because no one should have a stack of Item X they are trying to sell. If there are very high end craftables, maybe the craftable market will be, but it sounds like crafting is just D2 gambling.
Aside from the skill trees?

Mods/addons won't be legally acceptable in D3.
Buying leveled up characters in RPG games seems kind of meaningless to me. Isn't the whole purpose of the game is to play and level our own character?

Isnt there unlimited respecing? If so, the only thing different about characters are names and items.
I never got that either. The only thing I could think of is that you've already leveled up multiple characters, and just want to play a high level char of a type you haven't done yet.
What really ends up happening though is the damn rich kids eBaying an entire toon with items, and then barely pulling their weight.
This whole selling gold/characters/items to me is a way for blizzard to make money of the chinese farmers.
They dont care IMO about the average Joe, they just want to make money off the Average Joe and the chinese farmers.
This game has gone to utter and complete shit.
And this is coming from someone who will have arthritis on my index finger from Diablo 2.
I just think of it like drugs. It's happening, there is no way they can stop it.
So they can either just throw money at a black hole to make a tiny difference, or they can allow it, actually make some money off of it, which can then be used to mitigate the ill effects.
I'm done with this game after reading this nonsense. This fleecing of the game industry has got to stop somewhere and it perplexes me to no end that gamers are willing to sit by and take the abuse willingly. Our hobby sure has gone down hill, guess the Roman Senate was right that the Bread and Circuses is how to run things.
And this is why no one takes video gamers seriously. See you in Diablo 3.
The auction house doesn't bother me at all. I'm more worried about not being able to play at the beach cabin (no internet).
Seriously. We're being "abused" by having the option to use, or not use, a real money auction house. How can we possibly bear this terrible burden placed upon us?!
It does affect my gameplay because now people can just buy their toons, gear, gold, exp, etc...I just realized that this won't be on the PvP or Hardcore servers so actually I rescind my statements. However, if this was on the PvP or Hardcore serves this drastically alters and affects everyone's gameplay which would "abuse" the regular players.
Selling items isn't a big deal. I made my way through Fresno State doing it but the implementation of this system is a make or break deal for the game.
3G/4G tether?
