Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

what's the point of nerfing when AH is gone?

Longevity. A large portion of D3 players play specifically to max out loot and once they have maxed it out they no longer have reason to play.

Its easier to make a game designed around manipulating the brains reward system with loot then it is to create fun gameplay.

Not saying the game isn't fun.....its just by closing the environment they have limited D3 game mode possibilities and IMO the play modes they currently have are very limited.

If I were the D3 director I'd put most of my focus on game modes. Tower Defense, None stop mobs, Time Challenge, PVP, DoTA, Team VS Team, custom map creation ect.

My secondary focus would be on statistics. When in a multiplayer game its would calculate tons of stuff like damage dealt, mitigated damage, Kills, and give out cool titles when completing a rift like Slayer for the person who killed the most, Do you even lift for the tank, fragile don't break for the least damage taken.

.....but its far easier to limit gear to focus on the loot grind.

Developer says you should be getting 33% more legendaries over all from kadala. Chance is now 10%.

Unfortunately the higher costs make it more susceptible to 'cold streaks'. Over time it should average out to be more, but it's going to feel terrible when you get nothing 25 tries in a row. That being said, I've had plenty of 1000 shard streaks before the change without a single legendary. Dumped about 400 today and got 3 legendaries.
So they increase cost by a factor of 5, but drop rate is increased by only 1.33? How is that logical? It seems that this was meant only to hurt VC accumulation, as others have pointed out. Isn't the Blood Shard limit still only 500, too? So you can only gamble 8 gloves or 3 weapons at a time now...

D2 had 99 levels(?), you'll already get stuck around 85 and took forever times forever to get 99. but we got paragon. d3 is already getting boring with no real upgrades dropping.

Drop rate was 1.5%. Shard cost and rate was increased by 5x which puts the rate to 7.5%. A 33% bonus (1.33) was applied on top of that to get to 10%.

And once you hit 99 you can just go get Median XL and then the fun is limitless.

D3 would never really get boring if they allowed for custom stuff or spent their time developing game modes instead of just maintaining loot and skill balance. And allowed for some competitive aspects of the game.....I mean look at the popularity of LOL and Dota which is caused 100% by the competitive aspects of those games.

Yeap. And PVP, the one aspect that would probably keep me and my friends playing this game, was even promised as one of the features before launch.

As I said the nerf went into effect YESTERDAY.
Veiled Crystals are now the rarest mat in the game by a ratio of about 2:1 if you only pick up yellows. You will run out of them quick, and faster than any other mat you have.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14579148051

If you look at equalized drop rates, Arcane Dust and Reusable Parts outnumber Veiled Crystals by about 4:1 or 5:1.
The reason you have so many right now is because pre-patch they were the most common crafting material. They are now the rarest. The pain will set-in once you start rolling gear.

omg, drop rate blows..........first it was gold issue for me, then i can get mats at all. :(

Can't agree more about feature set improvement. I don't need WoW like refinement or balance of play. I'd love some statistics and damage meters rather than a general feeling. I'd love to see those game modes you spoke of @stevedave. Those sound great!

I got about 100 yellow mats in ~30 minutes or so. Make sure you don't waste rerolls on average gear, I know a lot of people do that.

We won't see anything new until the next expansion, assuming that exists.
These in-between patches are being created by 1 person, which explains why they're slow. And buggy. And imbalanced.

Blizz will bring out the big guns for the next expansion, hopefully add something worthwhile, then charge us another $40.

Content-wise ROS is disappointing. Adventure Mode and Rifts aren't that interesting.
Game modes would be great. Blizz needs to realize there are OTHER fun ways to mindlessly slaughter demons...

Rifts/bounties are way better than running act 3 over and over again though.

But was that worth 40 bucks?

Its relative. I've put at least another 200 hours into since the release so to me it was worth it. Should it have been 20 bucks yes. Should most of what they did been there since launch yes. Could they have done better yes. Should they have done better yes. Should we expect more for 40 bucks yes.

The biggest reason Diablo 3 just doesn't feel right is the difference between would could be done and what has been done.

But was that worth 40 bucks?

I've paid a total of $60 for RoS now (just got collectors upgrade for extra slots) and yes, it has been worth it. I put almost 40 or so hours into it in one weekend (start of season 1). I've probably put in over 300 hours since RoS.

They could have added Rifts in a non-ROS patch (for free).
It's a nice feature. It's not worthy of being an expansion-defining feature, which it is now.

It's a dungeon randomizer. It doesn't add anything to gameplay other than remove some repitition which was Blizzard's fault in the first place.

I agree with this; so much unrealized potential.

That said, I also have put a ton of hours into D3 RoS and had great fun doing it. Easily worth 40 bucks. Hell, all it really takes to get me playing the game again is a fresh start along with a few new legendaries and some skill revamps/reworks, because it opens up new builds to try.

This would be a nice feature to have and its fun competition. ;)

I played D2 for well over 6 years. I never bought D3. I played someone else's game for for a couple hours before proclaiming it "not DIABLO" Yes, I was one of those old hardcore D2 types that cursed Jay Wilson and Blizzard for ruining "my" game.

If they ever put player trading and the economy aspect of the game that goes with it back in the game then I may once again give Blizzard some of my money and give the game a real try. Is there any talk of this happening at some point in the future?

New hotfix to multiplayer Trials keystones.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14579008081#2

Greater Rifts

The Greater Rift keystone reward from completing the Realm of Trials in multiplayer games will be increased
2 Player groups will receive a key equal to their last wave completed minus four
Ex. If you completed 20 waves, your group will receive a level 16 keystone
3 Player groups will receive a key equal to their last wave completed minus five
Ex. If you completed 20 waves, your group will receive a level 15 keystone
4 Player groups will receive a key equal to their last weave completed minus six
Ex. If you completed 20 waves, your group will receive a level 14 keystone

Likewise with gloves, but they're all gladiator's gauntlets or whatever the other most common one is.

I personally liked the 5 shard cost, I didn't mind salvaging or selling the extras. It only took a few seconds.

Their reasoning was that it was a quality of life buff because players will no longer have to make multiple trips back and forth from Kadala to the Blacksmith while spending shards...except that now we have no materials from Kadala so we have to make far more trips back to town to salvage, which takes a shitload more time than the 1 second it took to walk the 10 yards from Kadala to the Blacksmith. Idiots.

Anyone else experience the "salvage all" tool doesn't always work now? I'll click it and sometimes random yellows and blues will still be in my bags.

We've identified a bug that prevents account-bound Rare items from being broken down when players use the Salvage All option at the Blacksmith. We are looking to fix this bug at a future date, but don't have an ETA to share at this time.

Thank you all for the reports, and good hunting out there!

Gambling shoulders has been a blast...15 Invoker shoulders and 11 Homing Pads all within the last 10 or so hours

Blizzard slips up again.

5000 shards spent

Kadala 2.1 = 24 legendaries
Kadala 2.1.1 = 14 legendaries

From this thread...http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/14609910878

Pre-patch
5000/5=1000
24(legendaries)/1000(chances) = 2.4%

Post-patch
5000/25=200
14(legs)/200(chances) = 7%

Blizzard said the chance to get a leg would go up, but never mentioned you should get more legendaries per bloodshard ;)

atleast from a legendary perspective, i like the new kadala changes, she has been pretty good to my first seasonal character which is a 3 day old monk.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/WildAce-1546/hero/53647338

Can stomp T6 already.

Kadala has given me full Sunwooko set, string of ears, like 3 depth diggers, crudest boots, and a lot of inna's and other set stuff.

i think one pants buying spree i did with about 360 shards gave me 5 legendarys, 2 black thorns, depth diggers, hammer jammers, and that other monk set with the dash/lightning damage pants.

she has been rocking the legendarys.

but as for mats i have not had too much issue getting them but it was nice to have spares to melt, but ill take the extra legends over yellows to melt.
