Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Craft Aughild's first for the 15% Elite boost. Farming the mats is easy enough that I got bored and made four or five more bracers the other day just looking for a better set.

For getting the white items, do Battlefields of Eternity in Act 5 (or whatever it is called) and then back backwards into the Abandoned Camp. There are a bunch of clickable pile of armor and the map is small and linear. Once you run through, just reset and do it again. Took me just a few minutes to get the Ascended Bracers.

I like Asheara's when the Followers come out, and it let's me be a bit more stupid with positioning, however it lacks the extra damage punch that Aughild's has.

Thats what im planning. Ive found that using rift if forward and the mat farming community i should be able to farm materials at a pretty high rate, the only binding thing being the yellow salvage mats you need. I need to link my WD here and have people give some advice but i cant access the account from here at work.

Ashearas would be nice aside from the fact my followers aside from my enchantress have horrible gear. i was never focused on soloing until recently, didnt see the point cause i couldnt clear fast enough

I played through on Master level from level 60-70 and I can't a decent weapon for my Barbarian, single hand or two-handed. Went through 2 different Acts in B&R and my damn enchantress is only 4000 dps behind him. Kept getting sidekick drops but nothing good for my Barb. Frustrating!!

The last few times I've played with my friend, on average he gets around 5-6 legs in a couple hours of play, and I've gotten zero. It's like I'm his good luck charm, because he doesn't seem to get nearly as many when he plays solo.

Thanks for the set chest though Pure :D

I think I am done until tiered rifts...lol I burned myself out.

I have almost a fully re-geared Barbarian(missing one Earth piece of the set) and would be able to do T6, he was a fully geared WW barb until they nerfed everything WW. But he was maxed out WW wise...

Then I played my crusader just for a little bit, and got extremely lucky and he is fully geared as a Blessed Shield crusader to do T6 after like 40 hours...lol

And lately I have been trying to play my witch doctor, but I have had 2 leg drops in 15 t1-t3 rift runs and I lost all want to keep playing him really...

I keep telling myself that and the game just keeps pulling me back in. No good drops in about a week on my crusader so I do a rift with my DH and get the cindercoat I've been wanting. So I hop back on my crusader to farm some mats for cain's and aughild and first Magdha kill I get my first Gyrfalcon to go with my plinko board. Now I have the desire to further work on my DH but also test out a new build and play style on the crusader.

Never thought I would be in this situation when D3 launched.

I hear ya...

My WD is missing an RoRG and he's fully geared for pets (I got mask of jeram and the entire set of Zuni, but I want to wear some aughilds).

I hit a new low point gambling last night. 900 shards and zero Legendary items. Then I opened 25+ caches and got zero as well. I suppose this makes up for gambling a good Mask of Jeram, Quetzalcoatl, 2x Hwoj Wraps, and Tasker and Theo in the span of 48 hours over the weekend.

I wish I had your luck. 2200+ shards no idea how many caches, maybe 50, I've never gotten a legendary from them or gambling.

I still play D3 and everything, but this game really makes me take stock in how much of my life I am really just wasting. This game has no skill, no level of competition.....it is just a mindless grind. Aghhh.... yet I still play.

This just brings to mind an old saying "Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted." :)

I was with you until the last part. The game plateaus really quickly, and gets pretty boring. Searching for another game to play now. :(

Guess that depends on a per person basis. Was I really enjoying it? Or was I psychologically addicted to the carrot dangling in front of me? Little of both I guess for me. I do get enjoyment out of the mechanics of obliterating hordes of demons. I just have to go to other games every few days so I don't get exhausted.

Blackthorne legs are the bane of my existence. That and terrible Slorak rolls.

God, man, i feel your pain there.

I saw set legs on the ground when I was on my Barbarian, i was like, THIS WAS IT!!

Identified it

Quite possibly the worst roll on a set of Blackthorn leggings in the history of Diablo 3. I couldn't believe it.

:(

At least my username is appropriate :p

Making slow progress now... its crawling...

kadala sold me my 4th pair of magefist. This one had 19% fire on it but had to sac attack speed for crit chance of 9.5% (which took a ton of FS). All for +2% fire +1.1% dps gain.

My t5 build is now comfortably running t5 groups, but even my t4 build can run some t6 bounties solo for xp runs.

With the grind, I've noticed I've been playing sloppy, killed in stupid ways which make you go why'd I do that?

Oh well, at least with nice weather here I've been also putting some time into spring tune up of the car.

Well, I can't find anything it seems. I have found zero plans to farm Mats for.

Only legendaries that I find are junk. The only way for me to change up the game is to work a different clase (Wizard hit wall, then DH, then Crusader, now I might get my monk from 60-70 but that grind SUCKS!).

Running rifts and not getting anything (even ran one and didn't get any shards) is just a huge let down. Takes the thrill completely out of the game. With BOA and no trading they need to give more rewarding (higher drop) and loot tables for farming.

A simple example: When you kill diablo he his a %10 change to drop a set piece for your current class. Therefore if you are looking for Tal's set you can focus your farming on that run.

Right now you hit a very hard wall in about 4-5 hours of farming/crafting/gambling.

Not to mention I still have lvl 60 gear that is immpossible to find upgrades for because of the attack speed (Tal's chest, witching hour, Inna's pants, etc).

Might give the game a hard break until tiered rifts.

That update is supposedly right around the corner, might not be much of a break honestly. Hey, tomorrow is Tuesday, maintenance day!

Huh? Pretty sure shards are a guaranteed drop from the rift guardian.

You do need to be within a certain range to get drops from the guardian, though.

I'm thinking tiered rifts will be part of the 2.1 update which I think they are planning on doing a PTR on. If they do anything tomorrow it'll be 2.05 with the cache drop changes for Torment 1+.

I hope they make some skill element changes as well in 2.05, although if they do I'm half expecting them to break my fire Demon Hunter.

I'll be surprised if we see 2.0.5 before the summer, quite honestly. They can hotfix any sort of overpowered element in the game within 24 hours, but something like allowing Torment caches to drop Torment items always takes them months to fix, even though it's one of those "how did you guys overlook this?!" things in the game.

I'm disappointed with how poor some of the execution has been on Blizzard's part, although I can't say I'm surprised. Rifts, with their promise of random monster sets and dungeons, were a great idea, yet in practice I find that I get the same few maps 90% of the time and often they are terribly boring as we try to find monsters to fight. The few rifts you do get that swarm you with elites in mystery settings are awesome fun and show the true potential, but whatever they use to randomize things fucking sucks at doing it.

Tiered rifts and ladders should be good fun...but fun enough to bring back players? My friends list is all but empty already, and while attrition is expected, I can't help but think that it's because of how badly they screwed up the reward structure (I.E. increased difficulty does not equal increased rewards).

Good notes on rifts. Some rifts are amazing fun, multiple elite packs at the same time. Good monster density. Many are mediocre or just boring. It should not be like that and the fun rifts should be the norm.

Tiered rifts, yes.

Ladders, no. Use certain game elements in regards to ladders (tiered rifts, speed runs, etc.). Don't arbitrially force people to start new toons by dangling exclusive loot (that probably never drops) in front of them. That is artificially creating replay value.

How is it artificial? A Constantly changing environment/competitive set up is real replay value i dont see your point in the slightest.

So instead of creating new things to do, find, and explore with my toons I have dumped hours into. Here is the same content walled off, start over and oh here is a few shiney toys that will drop at about the rate of winning the lottery. Once they do drop they will be garbage any way.

This game is so close but ladders is NOT what it needs.

How do you know this isnt coming in the future? They arent going to just drop in content patches like an MMO does. The content updates will come in the expansions just like Adventure Mode and the addition to the campaign did.

Until the next expansion updates like ladder are what your going to get, anything else is extremely unrealistic expectations for a non-sub non micro transaction model.

Honestly, how much time do you have played? I have around 350 hours on my Wizard and I have nearly every legendary plan. Most of them are shit, if that makes you feel any better. But adding something like a 10% chance to drop class sets to a boss would be ridiculous. People would have full class sets in less than a day.

I agree that the rewards are lacking for running higher difficulties, but this isn't a game where you can put in 20-30 hours and be "done". Blizzard is never going to make it that way.

They need to buff Ubers or change up the reward since the Hellfire ring sucks so badly @ 70. Making that a worthwhile use of time would be great. Also, I'd love to see gambling with gold or some other money sink. I have 20 million gold and nothing to buy.

Patch tomorrow most likely. Datamined patch notes below. Tons of class changes. Crusaders getting buffed. No surprise there. No more movement speed penalty for 2handers. More community events like 100% increased legendary drop event, etc.

Holy fuck! Glad I didn't offer to eat my boots in my last post! I've got 2 different Crusaders and both of them are going to get huge buffs from these changes! :D

My Blessed Shield Crusader is going to be nuts using Fervor and Towering Shield, not to mention the buff to the skill damage...(15% IAS from Fervor, 15% reduced cooldowns, 45% reduced Shield Glare cooldown, 20% Blessed Shield skill damage, and a straight damage buff to BS itself? That's what I'm talkin' about!). Edit: damage buff to initial BS hit, but a nerf to the Shattering Throw rune from 333% to 170%...will have to test with new passives to really see; better for single target though.

Not sure if the Akarat's Champion changes can be considered nerfs or not; the skill is just completely different. As it was, nobody used anything but Rally, but now it's a 35% damage buff + mega wrath regen skill. Prophet may end up being the de facto HC choice, since the innate "NDE" element of the skill has now been moved only to that rune; I never liked triggering it anyway, but the safety net was nice once or twice! Without Rally the class would have been completely horrible up until now, but the across-the-board buffs look to smooth out Crusader combat, rather than relying on becoming a cooldown bomb every 20 seconds or so.

Fist of the Heavens changes are kind of all over the map, but it will likely be a tad less powerful now (better damage for the initial explosion, less damage from the bolts). Blessed Hammer got a straight up buff all around, with an interesting mega buff to the Icebound rune that I don't believe I'd ever looked at before (chance to explode for 380% on impact, up from 75%).

The generators all got nice buffs, both from damage buffs and the passive reworks. Speaking of passive reworks, nearly every passive looks like an awesome choice now: the way it should be! The worthless "increased block amount (not %) when 4 enemies are close" passive has been changed to the Sword & Board "gain 6 Wrath on block", Fanaticism makes it's return to Diablo with a 15% IAS buff to generators, and Crusaders now have their own NDE-esque passive to choose. The only lacking passive is still Iron Maiden, which seems to be giving Blizz the most trouble balance-wise: 50% increased thorns...yay? It's half the Barb passive, which also has 30% increased armor. Ah, well, can't win 'em all! :D

Looks like these proposed class changes will lead me to start gearing an alt. probably crusader since he is 70 already. Kind of hit a brick wall with my dot wd right now. Really need a soj and jade pieces to drop but all I get is blackthorns and Zuni pieces. Guess I could get a pet doctor set going too

They did. Have you seen the level 70 Hellfire rings? They require a different plan, and the ubers require an entirely different set of keys from their level 60 counterparts. There is also a new fourth boss fight... Diablo in the shadow world. And he summons other bosses, as opposed to the usual shadow clones. It's fun... or super death if you're not ready for it.

Also, 20M being a lot of cash? You kidding? It's not uncommon for me to have to spend 2M+ rerolling a single item (and by item, I mean legendaries only. I'm far past the point of having any rares on my main). And that isn't including if I need to create gems to reroll a ring or amulet. I easily spend 10M+ just rerolling a ring. If that isn't a massive money sink, I don't know what is. Either you're extremely lucky, or I'm extremely unlucky (Or you never reroll anything).

Looking forward to the patch. Especially improvements to Caches. I will hopefully, finally, get an INT Trifecta Ring of Royal Grandeur (as opposed to the STR one that the game decided to give me). Also looking forward to the boosts to the drop rates in general. Working on JH set with T4 WD shared loot Rift parties. But it's still super rare to see even a single JH piece drop in 4-6 hours of play (even with 4 WD's in a single game).

I have 300+ on my wizard and 75+ on my DH.

My point was that if they are going to stick with BoA they should to give us more FOCUSED farming for what we are looking for. What the drop rate or anything like that should be I don't know. The fact that you can't trade and are subject to the RNG is just stupid once you hit the gear wall (which generally means you are smoking T1 and can do T2). For my wizard I need a lvl 70 tals chest piece as any other chest piece I find is not an upgrade to my lvl 60 because of the attack speed on Tals.

Who cares if someone farms a complete set in some short amount of time? I don't get people with this game, first it was all rage against the AH which was just a good replacement for spamming the trade chat channel. Now we have no way to get the gear we want unless the RNG gods decide to give it to us and you are concerned how fast someone else gets it? It doesn't matter if you trade what you find for what you need, you would have still farmed it.

Still playing this game because of the carrot on the stick, but looking forward to tiered rifts.

The problem with the hellfire rings is they aren't an SOJ or a RROG. Sucks but those are the BIS rings by far. SOJ for 30% elite damage + 20% elemental damage is insane, and the RROG is godly for obvious reasons.

Mind, you have to have been lucky enough to actually find either of them...

I have yet to find either. I havent found a good leg amulet or ring in several hundred hours of play

I've got around 150 hours in RoS and no SoJ, no RoRG and none of the elemental rings/amulets like Julia's cameo. The grind on the jewelry is ridiculous, plain and simple. It is often what sets apart T2 and T4. If I had a RoRG on my crusader I could easily do T4 instead of T3. After 100+ act 1 caches I said screw it and am looking forward to this patch fixing that.

Generally speaking for a lot of builds you are correct. There isn't much reason to pursue Hellfire's at this point, short of fighting Ubers, and getting an achievement. But unless the Ubers start giving guaranteed legendary drops, it's unlikely that most will spend the time to farm keys. I've actually gotten all the elements to make the ring, but I haven't bothered yet, since I want to keep the option open to make it on another class instead of on my WD... which as you mention doesn't have any ring space.

I've gotten both. About 5-6 RoRG and 4 SoJ's. I'm also a prolific player. I would say that you'd have to farm about 70-100 caches to get an RoRG pre 2.0.5. Why do I have so many? I played over 50 hours across 6 days to attempt to get an INT trifecta ring, as I mentioned in a previous post. I managed to get those rings as well as over 2000 rift tokens, and still didn't get it.
Hopefully with the new boosts it won't be nearly as painful, especially for those of us willing to farm in T levels as opposed to Master and below. Getting a trifecta RRoG is almost a req, since basically it will be taking one of your ring slots forever. I'm trying to grind it out now and never do it again. Everyone that got a Trifecta in one of their first caches (and by one of their first, I mean, first 100) totally drives me nuts.

SoJ's on the other hand are pure luck. I wouldn't say it's any more or less difficult to get than any other non-torment item. Of course getting one with the stats you want is an entirely different bag of worms. Like most pieces of gear with elemental damage, prepare to need more than one to get the stats you want, and of course be prepared for it to have less than optimal rolls.

With all this stuff, it's just about grinding it out. For a while, I never thought I'd make it above T2. But then you start getting the adequate gear, or you farm legendary crafting mats, or you do whatever your class has to do to make it to the next level. Some weeks I won't even see a single drop I need, then the following week I'll get a game change ("a" being 1).
Really D3 comes down to 2 things: 1) Knowing your class inside and out, how you're trying to build it, what the 'SPECIFIC' upgrades are (dump all your shards into one equipment type until you get exactly what you're looking for, and not just trying to get 'a' legendary that has higher 'stats' than what you're currently wearing), where the upgrades are (rifts, crafting, caches, shards, whatever). 2) Time. Lots of time. Grinding. Then grinding some more. Doing whatever run you can do quickly and efficiently and for as long as possible. This comes with knowing your character and your gear level and not bothering with any T level that you die often in, or that takes an inordinate amount of time. If you're not getting to a rift boss and killing it in 10-12 minutes, then you're probably in a T level that's too high (or you got unlucky and had 3-4 Pandemonium Fortress maps in a row).

I've been out of the loop for a while. Whats all this about tiered rifts? Improved caches?

I think someone mentioned tiered rifts in this thread earlier? Maybe not?

Essentially if i do a T3 rift, after i complete it i can open another more difficult rift, i think it also has an improved loot chance?

Im curious how this is all structured though, if i start at T3 and open the next tier is it T4? Or something inbetween? If that were the case it would make the most sense if there is increased magic find with every new open to blow your way through norm up to whatever Torment you can handle
