I won't buy from 3rd party sites.. bought gold for wow once from a 3rd party site and now I'm still getting spammed by them s few times a week several years after I stopped playing. The tricky bastards even use a different email address each time so it ain't easy to filter them into spam.

I think he was trying to say that when a developer is not as established as Blizzard, they actually innovate and try new things, strive to impress; basically try to make cool shit. Their downtime was already like 5 minutes. Now they're trying for 0. Meanwhile, Blizzard still has all-day downtime for maintenance which doesn't even come with a patch.
Same ol stuff, really, which has been said a million times in this thread by players, reviewers, and even that same guy in a previous interview.
It's kinda sad that he went from StarCraft and Diablo I & II, to a Facebook game?
Good read but it sounds like he's trying to be too diplomatic about it, which comes off as mostly fluff then.

IMO, its pointless to buy items or gold in a ARPG anyway. Whats the point of playing the game? These kinds of games are made to promote treasure hunt and lottery systems.
If you can just buy your items, I don't see the point in playing it. That would be like going to a casino and paying the pit boss for the winning spin on the roulette wheel. :/
Putting in a AH has taken the mystique and soul away from this game.

yes and no. Any game with popularity will have a way to buy items Diablo 2 has hundreds of sites you can items from and so does PoE. Diablo 3 just put that in game which does proliferate it.
They could make all gear account bound which would make it very hard to buy things but people will still find a way.
anyone who has earned a Zod Rune in Diablo 2 like I have knows that it is far better to spend 1 dollar vs 1000+ hours.......I didn't know I could buy a Zod rune until after I spend a couple years of my life earning one. Especially if your an adult with an adult job money is far less valuable than time.

This. It's one thing to go out and buy a fully geared character, or buy ALL your gear. However, if one piece is holding you back and you just can't find it, or something like a runeword is missing that last rune...I've got more money than time as I age. It does take something away from the game, admittedly. But if it saves me 1,000 hours and I personally feel that $1 or $10 or whatever gives me value for the X additional hours I will play, more power to you. (Note: Don't agree with this for competitive games, if it's even available for any).
Like say paying to unlock items in BF3?
Not sure if BF3 is what you'd consider competitive.

I can imagine people doing this close to launch to get an edge over people who haven't paid or had the time to grind out the unlocks.

What do you truly pay to unlock in BF3? If you're referring to Premium, I didn't purchase it for quite some time and never felt it gave any type of advantage over non-premium, just different guns that weren't substantially different than anything currently in the game, at least in terms of effectiveness. (Sorry, OT)
With D3 if there was a ladder and you purchased items to get to the top there, I would feel unethical about that. Paying $2 for an item that would take me 1,000 to grind? I feel smarter.

Inflation really doesn't matter, its all relative. Items are still worth how much time it takes to find them. So if all prices start going up, you can also sell decent items for higher amounts too. Crap is still cheap and it may spread a bit more. Still though, if you can't find upgrades for under a billion, then you either don't know how to look, or are so well gears you don't need any more upgrades.
You can unlock new guns and gear for the guns. They make a small bit of difference nothing huge. But guns like the JNG-90 are more awesome then the entry level guns.
I brought up BF3 because its the only game I play that can be considered competitive and selling upgrades in games like BF3 has a way larger impact then games like D3 where you aren't fighting each other.
That is why they waited before allowing you to buy upgrades in BF3 so that way nobody had a huge advantage from the start. Its mostly used for new players so they don't have to spend hours just to catch up with everyone else. But buying the Jet and helicopter upgrades make a pretty big difference I'm told.
O yeah they can be a bitch. I'm so highly geared in SC and play cautiously in HC that I sometimes forget the early days of getting my ass handed to me by ubers.
I could do ubers on MP6 on HC and it would be a blast....but I have a major chance of dying. MP4 is pretty safe.
Yeah.. we were on mp9.. Died a bunch, but eventually got through them & I have my 1st hellfire ring thanks to another member here's help.

This only holds true if you actually find items to sell at the inflated price.
inflation does matter if you are farming gold, because it'll take more gold to buy the same item post inflation.

The only uber I actually don't really like doing is SK and Maghda. Others are fairly easy/quick at MP10.
I wouldn't even wanna attempt ubers on HC haha.
Depends on the class. I'm guessing you are Barb or possibly a critical mass wizard. Because Kuul is a complete dickhead to everyone except Barbs and possibly CM lock wizards.
For me I think Magna and King are way easier than Kool and Breaker. Kools Bubble and Breaker picking my ass up then slamming me down into Tornadoes and Falling rocks makes me shit bricks all the time......Unless I'm playing my barb who is immune to the bubble.
They aren't that bad in HC on MP4. I have yet to pop while fighting them.

On another note.. Sokahr the Keywarden was not in Dahlgur Oasis just now.. Got my nephalam up & went through all of it 3 times & could not find him.. I thought he was guaranteed to spawn (not guaranteed to drop the key of course) on all inferno levels.
He spawns every time. They all do. You didn't look hard enough. Check the edges of the map, even where the small one room house thing is. He can spawn there. I've seen him spawn in the unlikeliest of places. He might also spawn where the southeastern edge of the map has a very narrow corridor formed by the natural rock formation. The area that often has a few of those poison-ball-plants-on-stems. Same for the area that's the northwestern edge.
Possible expansion announcement at Gamescom in August.

Pretty exciting.
Regardless of what anyone thinks of this game, an expansion can only make it better. An additional act, hundreds of new items, new skills, runes and possibly new mechanics and character classes... just remember what Lord of Destruction did for D2.

He's there. Just have to check every nook and cranny because he hides in one sometimes.
I checked every nook & cranny... There was no un-explored portion of the map. And then after I checked everything I did it again including walking around the edges staying to the outside to be sure I didnt miss anything & then walking circles around every mass in the middle. I cleared every other mob on the oasis including 14 elite packs (counted the notifications afterwards). I was moving pretty quickly as I was only on mp3 so I even went through the notifications to be sure he didnt get mixed into another elite pack where I didnt notice.
That would make me very happy.. Also good for anyone playing right now as it would give a chance to make sure our toons are topped out & ready for whatever the expansion throws at us.

I think it's unlikely they'll announce the expansion so close to the console launch. I think they'll probably just announce something as changing as MP and Infernal Machines.
Good point. Probably unveil the Mystic mechanics. The Mystic was already confirmed in the qna to come back at some point.

Thats what I'm thinking, it would be worth putting in the mystic for consoles at launch too.
They're saving their big game announcement for blizzcon this year.
In that case it may be some rare bug. I farmed Dahlgur Oasis dozens of times when leveling my Monk, and I always found him. Although there were several times where I had to explore every nook and cranny as well because he was tucked away at the edge, Including a small deadend path in the south.

When leveling and experimenting with my second char, I got really lucky with two drops. With that and the rest of my reserves I could buy new amulets for my Monk and WD, and a new helmet for my WD. I think I exhausted my luck for a long time to come.
It's the first time I see the Diabro3 site giving my Monk MP 9 as optimal level. WD remains at MP8, but DPS/EHP increased.
EDIT: A friend on another forum tried it out as well. His Witch Doctor scored a MP10!

Probably just a bug then. It's not that bad if it happens only once. If you notice it more you could try posting it on the D3 forums.

I'm a CM Wiz easiest class to play (for me at least). If SB grabs someone, we usually just keep that person up there so it can't do anything else.
I wouldn't touch Ubers on HC.
Yeah, my friend's barb scored MP10 on that site. His barb is pretty nicely geared too.

I changed some stuff and now I'm scoring mp5 on the site but I'm shredding through mp9
Finally checked out my toons on DiaBRO
My DH it says MP5 which is surprising to me that its that high (Paragon level 8)
My Barb it says it MP6 which is about right if I am paying attention. (Paragon level 15).. It did remind me that I need new bracers though.. It ranks them just above vendor trash.
