Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Looked at the Price per million last night at it was at .64 per million on auction house and .55 from gold botters. 3 weeks ago it was something like 1.25 and 1.00. Pretty soon gold botters may be out of a job.

As early as last week, it was 1.04$ per million on the AH (I have bought some millions and that's the going price). If it decrease like that, it's a good thing for us and a bad thing for botters.

Sounds like Pay-To-Win is getting cheaper every day!

Owait...

Alright, not necessarily the most valuable contribution to the thread but "good for us and bad for botters" is only true if you are buying off of the RMAH. And not selling on the RMAH.

On one hand it's great for players who buy gold because the prices are so low, but a problem for players who stick with gold only. Right now, the good stuff is in the 8 figure range and the only way to get there in a reasonable amount of time is to sell a lot of items of high-to-very high value as well. I personally never had a huge issue with it since high value stuff drops somewhat regularly, but that will only become rarer and rarer as time goes on. I wonder where the market will end up at this rate.

How is the game for new players? Is the auction house accessible to people who haven't been trading since its inception?

Different for everyone. You probably won't need AH until late act 1-act2 inferno, or you could be one of those guys who have legendaries fall like mana from the heavens.

I don't get the loots but I still enjoy playing.

They seemed to have nerfed any CM build into the ground. The latest PTR notes nerfed WW,Spectral blades, and meteor

My archon build is doable at MP2, maybe 3 after a few trinket upgrades, but I'm not seeing many higher MP builds because any spamming ability available by CM is now not spammable.

I wonder what the next build wizards will turn to so blizz can nerf them.

I never felt very comfortable using those spells to proc CM, but yeah that's quite a blow for people who did use em.

And yeah, Archon loses its viability quickly after MP 2-3. It depends too heavily on killing speed to be useful. There's a reddit discussion thread on the state of Archon and people are voicing similar concerns. Is it destined to be a MP 0-3 build for the vast majority or will it be adjusted for the changing landscape? I'm starting to mess around with other builds to see what may be good at all levels of play.

Hit 41 tonight on my HC Barb. Level 24ish to 41 has been exclusively Act 3 farming. I've found a lot of stuff along the way and accumulated a lot of gold. I'm waiting for the patch before I spend though.

I have level 60 of every class, Paragon 10 wizard. I am done playing until next year. So bored and tired of crap drops at this point. Not the game's fault I'm quitting now, I have a damn lot of time into the game.

Yeah lvling the paragon feels so lame.. not like you find better gear exactly and im almost 20 even if thats nothing its still just another lvl that makes no difference almost..

So one of my buddies wants to give D3 a go again and naturally he chose me to play with him because I can't say no to some multiplayer. :) Anyway I have given up on the Demon Hunter as I've been wearing almost the same gear for much of the 300 hours I put into her and started playing a minty fresh Wizard. I hit 60 last night after a 25 hour solo grind marathon.

Basically since I just have "hand me downs" from the Demon Hunter to wear my stats aren't optimal. My resists vary from 592 - 702. With Prismatic Armor I can get to 830 - 982 resists. I only have 11k dps though. and nothing on the DH to sell as it's all pretty crappy. I solo'd all of Act 1 as it was a cake walk and face tanked The Butcher eating his charges and stood in the fire for kicks.. The beginning of Act 2 is pretty easy also, but I run across Fast Electrified pack mobs that 2 kill me in about 0.5 seconds.

What do I need to get my resists to so I can live longer than 0.5 secs? My damage reduction against level 60 mobs is 70.34% yet I'm getting melee'd from 100 - 0 in about 1/2 second with 38,990 hp. This is with prismatic armor on, and Blur. These mobs have the Fast affix so even though I have Teleport it's pretty pointless as are any types of slows.

What spec would you run as a beginner Wizard that's short on dps. Thx!

I'd say the old Blizzard/Hydra/Piercing Orb (Shock Pulse) build is pretty safe to start on. As for the Blizzard and Hydra runes, I prefer Stark Winter for Blizzard but not sure about Hydra. Arcane Hydra is bursty and has aoe, but Venom might turn out more dps. The rest of the skills should be Energy Armor, Diamond Skin and I suppose Magic Weapon. As for passives, be sure to include Cold Blooded. Your resists seem fine, just find ways to up your dps without compromising too much survivability.

Some packs are going to be problematic for a while though, such as the ones that can close distance quickly. I went back to that build not long ago out of curiosity and was actually surprised by how defensive and distant I had to play with it without CM procs spamming all the time. It doesn't rely on specialized gearing though, so it's ok.

Yeah, there is a difficulty gap between act 1 and act 2. I was dying a lot intitially at Inferno act II.

Your health is good, your resists are good for act 2 as well. But even if you would have the highest resists or health possible, a character would still die because it can't kill enemy packs fast enough. And those Elite/Rare packs hit really hard.

Yoshiyuki above me posted a great build that would serve you best in the current situation. Personally I would go for Arcane Hydra for act 2, as many enemies seem more mobile than in other acts and Venom Hydra might not reach its full potential. The "simulacrum" skill could possibly be useful as well. I'm still using it for my character, especially the one which gives you 6 duplicates. It distracts the enemies and allows you a few extra shots.

Other than that I would recommend:

- Saving up for a good wand with at least 750 dps, with Life on Hit, increased attack speed and if possible a socket and some intelligence or Lifesteal.
- The wand would entirely be perfect if you can combine it with a good source. (A source which adds some nice damage as a stat, intelligence, increases crit. hit chance, etc.)
- Life regeneration or Life on Hit as a stat can definitely help your character surviving. Try to focus on one of these two stats, or finding a balance between the two. (if using life regeneration, use the galvanizing ward passive skill)
- Make sure to have boots with 12% movement speed as it will make kiting easier.
- Stats like intelligence, critical hit chance (preferably at least 25%), attack speed and critical hit damage (at least 100%) will all raise your dps dramatically. For Act 2 I personally only started to feel comfortable with at least 30k-35k dps.

Thx going to try as much of that as I can today and tonight. It's like everything is so easy then I run across one that says fast and I get instagibbed. I can actually stand in Desecration for 4 or 5 secs and poison I can go to sleep in. Latest instagib pack says Fast, Avenger, Vortex, Desecrator. Maybe I should cut on my Templar's taunt as I'm dead before he gets to 90%. :)

Problem is you are just too under spec'd for ACT II with your Wizard. Probably the worst character to spec up for in Inferno. I have a Wiz with 49K dps, 50K life and 5.2k armor and still can't stomp roll in ACT II. What helped me complete the act was 12% movement speed, diamond skin and energy armor.

If you want too, hit me up, I have a bunch of good gear I could donate since its just sitting in my stash b/c rares rarely sell anymore.

I run a 15k Health wizard and I find life regen to be my most important stat. If you are only having problems with fast then your doing pretty good for your first run though act 2.

Frost Nova, blizzard, Hydra Kiting works pretty good against fast. Make sure you have at least 12% movement speed.

I want the new patch to come out. It'll make a ton of improvements.

From playing TL2, i realize that i miss playing with gear. You can't really play with gear too much in D3... i miss the cube, unique gems, the ability to add sockets, shit like that. I hope the expansion adds these things in.

Anyone still using two 2-handers after they fixed that bug? My buddy has both his 2-handers stacked in his main hand. Pretty hilarious looking to boot!

Well took the baby Wizard to Inferno Act 3 Ghom. I guess I hit the enrage timer as the room started to get pea soup thick after a long time of face tanking him. Couldn't see where to teleport to after it did that. Well there were open spots on the floor but some crap like stairs in the way that I couldn't see from the fog. Got him to 10% a few times but I'll just hunt for more gear before I go again.

Time to take a nap and rejuvenate. :)

Ghom is a serious gear check :) U can always just stack AR and health re-gen and then tank him with 5k DPS :) Doesn't matter if he enrages or not then.

Someone on the BNet forums said to wait till 1.0.5 hits to roll unidentified items. What did I miss in the patch notes that says improve item rolls will improve?

I can't imagine they are going to reroll items. It doesn't work like that, items roll on drop, not identify.

This. The changes should only affect items that are being dropped after the patch. It was the same with the old legendaries before one of the previous patches upgraded the stats of new legendaries as well.

Congrats on getting so far, you've made a lot of progress. :)

Yeah, Ghom really is a gear check, it definitely shows what you would at least need to progress in the next area's as they can be tough. You need to be able to kill monsters quickly, or you'll get overwhelmed.

I felt comfortable for Act 3 with around 45-50k health, at least 45-50k dps, at least 1000 life regeneration (or a few hundred life on hit) and around 700-800 AR with Prismatic Armor. If you use Archon against Elite packs (maybe after first weakening them a bit with Hydra) your AR would jump above 1000 which definitely makes a difference.

Strangely enough I found the gap between Act 3 and 4 less than the gap between Act 1 and 2. For Act 4 you need to up AR a bit to 850-900/1000 (Prismatic), get a minimum of 50k health, 1200 life regeneration and 60-70k dps to be generally comfortable (You can do this all with less, but it could be slightly harder. If you have for example less health, the room for error is very small)

Be careful though for Heralds of Pestilence, Hellflyers and especially elite/rare phasebeasts. For some reason these monsters hit insanely hard, even with for example Blur and Physical/Fire/Poison resistances above 1000) I found Elite Phasebeasts actually harder than most of the stuff you face in Act 4.

Probably just because the Identification time is going to be smaller.....I have like 3 pages of un identified items in my inventory. Its going to save me like a whole minute.

Forgive me if this has already ben asked/explained, but do we know what Moster Power are going to drop what iLvl items?

As I understand it, drops will be based on monsters iLvl now. How do we know which monsters will drop which iLvls?

Starting from Monster Power 1, all monsters in all Acts will be level 63. (They can still drop lower level items, but at least the affixes will be based on lvl 63 rules) In theory this should mean a better chance for good/awesome loot. For example a level 60 amulet with level 63 (higher/better) stats.

I'm not entirely sure but for the later Acts monsters won't drop items below level 58 anymore.

Did you just do a ninja edit? I could've swore that I clicked the quote button and then I was suddenly reading something else, either that or I'm losing my mind in this cube that I'm stuck in for most of the day

So farming A1 with MP1 will only give say, 10% MF bonus. But farming A3 with MP1 will give maybe a 50% MF bonus?

Sorry about that. I edited my post after realizing I misread your question.

Each MP level gives a GF/MF bonus. It is 25% GF/MF with MP level 1, and then it goes up 25% with each level until 250% at MP level 10. It doesn't increase with later Acts, only with higher MP levels.

The best thing is that this bonus doesn't have a cap. In theory you could have 625% GF/MF at MP 10. (300% Paragon stats + 75% NV + 250% MP bonus)

So does setting monster power 1 make things more difficult?

The current Inferno difficulty will be 25% lower in the new 1.0.5 version of the game. (Although some skills from characters will also be somewhat weakened) This will be the new 'standard" Inferno difficulty which still follows the older rules.

From MP level 1 the game will follow the "new" rules. (All monsters being lvl 63, 25% GF/MF bonus, etc.) MP level 2 should still be a bit below current Inferno and MP 3 should be just a bit above current Inferno.

In theory MP 1 should be easier than what we currently have with Inferno. However, because all monsters are now level 63 (even in Act 1 and 2) there is a chance they'll hit harder as well. I can't really tell if that makes it more difficult or not.

The fact that they have had to make so many bandaid fixes to loot and Inferno difficulty just shows how poorly thought out D3 end game was. In retrospect this game was nowhere near ready for release.

this game is absolute trash.

Diablo game with very little to no randomized environments? Talk about a POS game. I'm surprised people still play this shit. Better off wasting time and money on the lottery.
