Do we have any information on the PVP? looked like WoW arena to me, how will that not be competitive?
There won't be any ladder system, no pvp gear, no rewards to pvp.

Cool. Thanks for the infos! I like this because there was nothing more stupid in WoW arena than losing to a team which outgeared the fuck out of you, and losing 5 wins worth of points. There won't be any ladder system, no pvp gear, no rewards to pvp.
then whats the point of pvp?
Nephalem Valor is one of the major new systems in Diablo III and it kicks in at level 60. Keep in mind that this is still in testing and we’re still working out the details. Here’s how it currently works internally: Rare and Champion packs already have great loot on them. By killing a Rare or Champion pack, not only do you get their loot, but you’ll also receive a buff granting you increased magic find and gold find. However, if you change a skill, skill rune, passive, or leave the game, the buff disappears. As an extra reward, if you kill a boss while this buff is active, you’ll receive extra loot drops from that boss.
The exact amount of magic find and gold find provided by the buff is still being reviewed, as is the amount of extra loot you get from a boss while the buff is active. We’re also playing around with whether or not the buff stacks, what the duration should be, and whether or not it should persist through death. We want to make sure the buff is strong enough to make staying in your current game more rewarding than creating a new game. At the same time, if the buff is too strong, it risks making shorter play sessions feel not worthwhile.
We expect this system will encourage players to stick with a skill build of their choice, select an area of the game they enjoy, and sweep it for rare and champion packs on their way to a boss, finishing off a run with a boss that’ll be worth killing. If you wanted a shorter play session you could be done at that point, but if you have more time, the path of least resistance would ideally be to stay in the same game and make your way towards the next boss.
For those that played open beta. Is it worth shelling out the money? Or should I not waste my time? I enjoyed diablo 2 back in the day... but that was a long time ago.
Damnit blizzard, that sounds just like a direct port from the WoW arena system.
You'll still get trolled by teams who have 10x the gear you do because they won't include that in the equation. Rabble.
there are rewards to pvp.
i literally just said gear is a part of the hidden ranking which determines who you get matched with
I don't think this is true, other than probably achievements and maybe banner stuff.
Don't forget the chicks. Chicks love high arena rating.
My reading comprehension fail then.
I figured there'd be teams and when a new team gets formed it starts out at 0 and you work your way up. If there's a hidden ranking which when a team is formed looks at combined gear levels and assigned the appropriate ranking, now that it something that sounds fun.
Is there going to be dueling without an arena?
Currently there's no in game dueling and I don't think they have any plans to implement dueling in the future.
youre just saying things now.
Jay Wilson has said many times that he wants to add a dueling feature, he just will not implement hostile toggles.
The person was specifically asking if we could implement duels so they have something to do before the PvP patch arrives. And so I said ‘no plans for duels’, which out of context is quite misleading. What I should have said was ‘no plans for any PvP before the PvP patch’.
We’re open to the idea of custom PvP matches, which would allow for duels in the arenas. There are a lot of decisions before we can get there, but on the design philosophy front we don’t have anything against practice duels or other custom matches (1v4?), as long as they can’t be used for progression. It’ll just come down to implementation and what we’re able to pull off in a timely manner.
And what initial PvP rewards did WoW have? Absolutely nothing. Just good ole fashion fun at Tauren Mill. When the "fun" aspect wears off, you can bet your binky Blizzard will introduce various PvP rewards and even scenarios. Its either that or constantly add new content, which I don't see happening being a free to play game.

Wrong, he says they might allow for duels in the arenas but he has no plans to currently allow dueling in the actual game. Of course, all things are subject to change.
Out of curiosity, do you guys plan on stacking non-combat stats, or go for higher damage while progressing? I'm on the fence of stacking MF, +Exp, or +gold items. +Exp per kill would be nice to level other classes a bit quicker, and then shifting to +%Exp at a certain point, and +gold will help pwrlvl the BS and may surpass MF early on from buying magic items at the shops. Thinking about it, I'm learning towards +gold

I think I'll give priority to +magic find and +gold stats and take my sweet time leveling. Gold is probably the most important since you need it to level your crafting, as well as increase stash size. Later on +magic find and +exp may be more useful, but I guess it depends how much gold is needed overall.

That stash size is going to be a problem. It's shared across all characters - just like your gold. There's going to be some money management strategies that need to take place.

The inventory size however, is quite large. Make lots of mules.
Stash size might be one of the later things I upgrade just because of mules. It's unfortunate you can't just create another account real quick to open up eight more characters slots though, like in D2. I had a couple accounts just for muling.![]()

I kinda want to get this but I played an hour or so during the beta weekend as one of the Mage characters and that was the first time I've ever had my index finger go numb from so much clicking (and I thought Batman: AC was bad). Are any of the characters less click intensive?

I don't mean to underestimate you, but you might not be playing properly. Most of the time, you can just hold down the mouse buttons to auto cast spells or attack. You can also just move around by holding down the mouse button. I'm saying this because on more than one occasion, I've seen people click from point A to point B repeatedly just to move around the world.

It's called APM spamming, Diablo style![]()
