Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Yeah, one really annoying thing is the auto-aim the bots have. Like the example here has, those mace guys that bring down that giant hammer on you. If you actually attempt to dodge it, it follows you and still hits you.... This is true for most of the AI classes. I feels like its extremely difficult to dodge spear chuckers as opposed to D2. Freaking auto-bot aim! :p

how bad is the hacking problem? I saw a vid on youtube of it happening live (hillarious I must say but the reality of it must suck for the person getting hacked)

To all you Inferno Wizards out there (paging Intel_Hydralisk & Skizzy):

Right now in my Act 3 Siegebreaker farming build, I'm at 5800 armor, low 300's on resist 26k hp and 44k dps. I can usually clear Siegebreaker with a 5 stack in just under an hour.

My wand is a 925 dps 15% IAS and off hand is a source 65-235dmg with 67 INT, 70 VIT, 5600 extra health for globes, and increase Blizzard for 2 seconds.

I was considering trying to piece together an inferno melee wizard build posted here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5589541421?page=1

Problem is, it can be expensive. I don't want to dump all my gold into a build just to find out it's not viable in act 3 and act 4. However, it does look like a lot more fun than simply kiting (not to mention allowing me to actually work in tight areas).

You think this melee build could work for a wizard?

I'm starting to think I'm the only wizzard who loves hp! I'm at 50k and want more.

That and I must have the lowest DPS in the world apparently...

Ok so I just got to Lv60 and I'm now at Act 3 Hell. Did a quick search and saw a bunch of weapons with ridiculous DPS but cost a shit load of gold as well. Should I farm gold to buy them or I can get those weapons in Inferno?

I like vitality too, but I'm unsure where the balancing point is when used with force armor. My dps *and* health is even lower than your because I have 24k with glass cannon XD. I noticed that Izual's screen-wide freeze barely put a dent in my health while people were telling horror stories of getting one-shot by it. It's great. Stuck on diablo for now though. Gotta keep farming...

Force armor does make it tricky to balance the amount of HP. I don't want to go much lower, as I can reliably survive an oppressor charge right now. Coop Izual was extremely funny when my DH buddy died every freeze, while I survived just fine.

I could probably inflate my dps numbers quite easily, but I've found a more effective method of farming I am going to stick with for the present moment. Waiting to see how much they nerf attack speed as well.

The first time I killed Diablo I didn't know that you could prevent him from teleporting. If you don't come near the edge or wall of anything he won't teleport. Obviously, the fight is much easier if he is just walking around. Thank you whoever posted that nugget of knowledge!

I've been farming Act 4 for days and never seen a 1h drop over 780 dps. The best 2h I've found was 1050 dps.

If I was in your situation, I'd buy a discount weapon now and wait to see what happens in 1.0.3. You don't have to have a 900 dps one hand for $$$ when you can buy a perfectly capable 750 dps weapon for $. Get some resist gear; the prices have fallen massively.

Thanks for the tip, I'm just wondering if the drop rates and gold will be better in Inferno. I only have about 200k to use for now so my budget is tight on purchasing new gears. I don't think my stats with 35k HP, 5k Armor and 8K DPS ain't that bad for a Barb but I definitely need to beef up my resistance since I lose lot of HP just for one enemy hit, it's good to know the price went down.

the account hacking is from popular gaming sites/forums being compromised

The drop rates are going to be improved in 1.0.3, but the gold isn't really any better than late Hell. You might want to spend some time farming Act 3 with the valor buff at 60 before moving on.

nice of you to speak with such authority when you have as little clue as anyone else how all the hacks have been happening.

The latest patch seems to have done something with the drops already.
I was getting a lot of rare and higher level drops (24-31) when I played my lvl 22 Barbarian yesterday.

Finally got Belial Inferno down on my wiz... took me like a week of farming the AH and just learning the phases. I started with 77 Mythic Health potions I had farmed up from Act I (Sword of the Stranger) and finished with 8 remaining, using one per attempt. I was stuck on phase three forever because I suck at explosions.

Had 46K dps buffed and 30K health, probably spent about a million on the various pieces of gear I upgraded for the boss, but also had a blue off hand source weapon 100-300-ish damage drop which helped enormously.

Used Magic Weapon:Force/Archon:Improved/Energy Armor:Force/Familiar:Sparkflint and Shock Pulse:piercing/Venom Hydra plus passives were Glass Cannon/Galvanizing/Arcane Dynamo.

Looking forward to clearing Act III Inferno this weekend!

I am a Monk, not a Wizard. :p And IIRC, Intel_Hydralisk is a DH. Unless you were just calling us wizards for beating Inferno, then I honestly don't know to your question-- don't know wizards well enough. :p

I think I just assumed that you guys know all the classes. :D

btw... stuck on Diablo as of two days ago. After rage quitting after he caged me up in the second phase (when I didn't even see a shadow appear on the ground!) I decided to just farm continuously. My gear is significantly better now after a few days of farming, but I don't think I want to try until I can severely overpower him.

EDIT: ok, after I made this post I decided I should try. Though I didn't overpower him, I did take him down in 15 minutes. Dropped one yellow that was pretty mediocre for end game (405 armor pants with 120 dex & int and some other stat).

I put on all the fire resist/ all resist gear I had. Fire resist at 980 and armor around 9500 put both fire and physical attacks to 76.5% reduced. dps all the way down to 21.1k and health 19.4k. I actually got caught up in his clench in the first phase early and lived with about 2% of life left.

Feels damn good! Now I can take a break from this game (probably not).

its what a Chinese gold farmer says

http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/upxr8/interview_with_a_diablo_3_chinese_gold_farmer/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NUQTATy5dc

more believable to me than session spoofing or Blizzard being compromised

Thanks for sharing that link

Can't say I'm surprised by this
account hacking on Blizzard forum that was big issue a week or so ago - your computers are not being hacked, they hack FANSITES AND TEST ALL EMAIL AND PASSWORD COMBOS IN GAME (keep your D3 pass different than anything) - process is called 'comboing' - programs can create 'combo lists' with data that is hacked from other sites

Its so common for people to use the same password and email across all their online forum accounts. And these smaller fan site have crappy security making them easy targets.

People need to learn how to use different passwords.

you'll commonly see sub 700DPS items in the AH really cheap which will be more than enough to breeze through hell mode use the max buyout filter then sort by DPS then if there's a ton available THEN pic an important stat to you. I use the filters a ton and can quickly get me the best I can afford

That is the biggest load of crap ever. I was pretty upset that Blizzard had the audacity to blame it on gold buyers/sellers as well.

Blizzard probably used some of the buckets of money they made to hire this guy. :D

Goddamn, the interviewer may be the dumbest man alive. Some amazing insights from the gold farmer, though. I still don't understand his motivation, though. He could be making millions a year (roughly $6mil with 100% uptime) off this.

"Diablo 2 Sucks"

Ok. For those of you who haven't bought or played this game yet. Stop right there and save your money for a better game.
Did you like Diablo 1? If so, then Reinstall it and play it again, because thats basically ALL you'll be doing with the 2nd version.
They keep the same graphics and put in some new classes, with different skill progression. A few more creatures, more levels of course, and a storyline.
I tell you what. If it didn't take them 2 years to make a clone of the first game. Then I wouldn't be flaming them.
Some quick BAD points.
Graphics 640x480 only. Get real. Why the #&@! did I buy my Geforce2 then?
Battle.net always down and unstable. Sure glad they had the stress tests!!
You need over 64 megs of ram, otherwise your S.O.L. because the game will chop out on you, especially in large battles (Thank god I have 320 megs!)
I'm done complaining because its given me a headache.
I am so disappointed that I paid 55 dollars for this piece of sh** game, that after 3 days I was already sick to death of playing because I finished it.

I chuckled a bit ;)

Also, there's an entirely different thread going on about this topic. It's located in General Gaming.

^^ Hahaha one of the first things I read this morning. I played D2 vanilla during launch and remember the 3-5k pings. Some young guns who are just playing D3 now have no idea what we had to go through just to play.

@jolli - I don't know many DH's who've added HP/res all, but I have. I "only" have 27K hp, but with 380res all I can actually take one hit in Act2 and Act3. That said, I only have 1200 dex (not 1800 or whatever those other DH's have), so I'm only doing 28K without SS (35K if I recall with it). I only just purchased by first rare jewelry (13% ias, 70/70 ammy). Seriously I am severely undergeared compared to most haha.

I played D2 vanilla during launch and remember no pings because you could play offline.

Back in my day, we sat around drinking coke and rolling dice!
Getting blisters from paper and pencils.

AND WE LIKED IT!:D

Myself and three friends bought this game to play. Only one of our group has the game still installed.

Going back to Titan's Quest until Torchlight 2 comes out.

Can anyone help me out? I am a lvl 18 wizard and I am having a bit of trouble in Act II at the desert. These lizards keep jumping at me and do a lot of damage, and i can't kill them from a distance because they run fast and jump at me.

What spells should I be using?

Just keep looking in the AH. Some people sell their stuff cheap just to get rid of it. I got a rare 747 2H bow for 8500. I could easily sell it for 100k.

Right now I'm farming in Act 3. Found a spot with lots of gold drops and equipped myself with increase gold find. Playing in nightmare so it's a quick run through, and I earn about 100k/hr. If I had more gold find, I could probably hit 300k/hr. Nethelm Valor 3-4 stacks each run helps too.

Well, if it doesn't have much else for stats, a level 60 747 dps 2h bow really isn't worth much. Drops of weapons in the 500-900ish dps range are fairly common in A3 and A4 inferno.

It's a solid bow. Has 100-300 Fire damage, 188 Dex, 18 IAS, socketed with a Emerald for 45 Critical Damage.

^^ Yeah I was gonna say. I got a 850 bow for 90k about 2 weeks ago, and I sold that to payf for a 1038 bow about 1.5 days later (which cost 500K). 500K wasn't really a good deal either though. Sub 1k DPS bows really need to have attractive stats, or massive dex boosts to justify their cost :p

The one thing I would say is that unless it's an xbow (not bow), you generally want IAS off the weapon so that your PER HIT damage is getting upgraded substantially.

This is ridiculous, I've tried 3 days in a row and their phone queue is always "full, and unable to take your call, please try again later" then hangs up on me. I'm trying to call in to get the refund under the 30-day satisfaction guarantee they posted about. Does anyone know of some other way to contact their billing department? I'm using option 1 for payment/subscription issues...

EDIT: Hm, found an email... I hope the heck it works.

I don't think the melee build can work out just on principle. I've never tried it though.

The key for a wizard is to get just enough defensive stats to make use of force armor without getting too much. For example, if things are hitting you for 200% of your hp and 1 shotting you, then you don't have enough defense to make use of force armor. If you're getting hit for 35-135% of your HP in 1 shot, then force armor is working beautifully. Getting anymore defense at this point is wasted unless you start reducing dmg below the 35% threshold... Between 135% and 200%, you should look to getting more defense but force armor just saved you from getting 1 shot.

The numbers to work with are a target of 128k and 170k damage (those are the most common dmg numbers for mobs in A3 and A4). Some will hit north of 225k, but those are usually the big slow melee swings. So calculate your EHP to deal with those.

I've had a mixed relationship with diamond skin. I honestly think the absorption amount is far too low for inferno. The skill is great while getting to Inferno but quickly becomes obviously short handed compared to blanket invulnerabilities or skills that scale (i.e. every other class's dmg absorption/avoidance skill).

However with all that said, I have no idea what the new patch will imply for itemization tactics since they're going to retune inferno. These numbers may mean nothing soon.

.

I remember my first day playing D2 Vanilla I played 7 player LAN for 36 hours strait......however I was in highschool then and had friends. Now If Diablo 3 Had LAN I'd be playing a 1 player game.......because I'm a loser with no real friends.
