Diablo 3 - Beta thread

You lucky bastards. I want in sooooooooooooooo gawd damn bad. D2 was my life in middle school.
 
did you guys get an invite from the FB contest or from opt-in?
 
if you're unsure if you got the email, just login to your battle.net account. the email is just a notification. when you're selected, your account gets granted access to the beta.
 
I got in yesterday. Played through as a Barbarian. I probably won't play through a lot, don't want to get burned out on he first part of the game. I might play around with the other classes, but I like the simplicity of the Barb.
 
Would it be obvious if I got an invite? I have to check bnet on my phone since I'm at work, so it makes it harder to dig around for it.
 
Diablo?.......It was but a fading memory when Skyrim was unleashed upon the world.

i dont think you need to check email at all just check your battlenet account. if they send anything in email it is a serial number you can add on battlenet. i only got this because i got it through PR. most likely just check your battlenet account DO NOT USE ANY PHISHING EMAILS TURDS. or we will remove your [h] status.
 
Yeah, the email is just a notification. When I received my email, all I had to do was login to Battle.net and Diablo 3 beta was already there in my list of games.
 
50 invite a friend passes went out to current testers. If any of you happen to be one of the lucky .00000000000001 percent, keep me in mind. PM's with beta keys are appreciated. There's almost no chance anyone got one, 50 people is practically no one.
 
Is the entire game going to be this linear? The dungeons are basically one way hallways with a few turns.

I doubt it.

What we are playing now is like some glorified tech demo. I say thank Blizzard for even letting us in on the action.

No doubt the final Diablo product will be on par or above Blizzard standards.
 
I think most of the fun is going to be on the back-end of the game (Hell/Inferno difficulty) so I'm not too eager to get into the beta at this point. It really sounds like its going to be exciting, but perhaps it might still be on the easy side if they intend all types of builds to be viable on some level when soloing.

WoW yeah but you can add bnet2 to that list since it completely ruined the SC2 custom map scene.

I just finished the beta and I'll say it, it sucks. Combat is meh, not as fast paced as Diablo 2. Areas are waaaaay smaller than Diablo 2 and normally a straight shot to your objective. It's completely fucking linear. The game is all about pushing forward in those linear hallways and completing the quests. Skipping quests is not an option in this game as you will not be able to explore (if you call walking down a straight hallway exploring) without completing them. Voice acting is lame and I'm not a fan of my character speaking in games like this anyway. Someone told me that they retconed the Dark Wanderer from Diablo 2 and said that he was one of King Leoric's sons (haven't verified, sounds retarded).

Here's to hoping the final game doesn't suck this much. I'm actually pretty bummed because Diablo 2 is one of my all time favorite games.
 
Haven't got into the diablo 3 beta, but I did get my Path of Exile beta invite this morning. Hopefully it is as good as it looks.
 
I played the D3 beta for a month straight until Skyrim completely took over. lol
 
Looks like lots of beta invites were sent out, though I didn't receive an email. I just checked my Bnet account and there it was! Anyone looking for players send a msg on over.
 
it might have been the way it was but NOW activision is calling the shots and the buzzard employees are just dumb ass followers.
they make no decisions and have 0 input.

look at wow, diablo will be just as bad

When is the last time you played Diablo 2? That game is slow as molasses until you have your high level skills with some significant synergies. Throughout most of normal difficulty you are stuck with single target abilities that you can't even spam due to mana limitations.
 
I've been having a blast in the beta... since I knew what I was getting involved with, its not disappointing at all. I'm unsure why there's so much nostalgia over D2 since its hard enough to have an updated game & use an addon to make it go to higher resolutions. As far as hack & slash RPGs go, this one presents itself well.

I definitely wish the texture detailing could be bumped up a lot for higher end systems. That's my main complaint.
