Developer showdown..

Am I the only one paying attention to the vote totals? I really don't think there's any facebook funny-business going on; Zynga winning with 7200 votes? Come on, if Zynga starts doing anything weird with facebook we'll know, they'll landslide with a 99.9% victory and 972,000 votes lol :p

Blizzard vs Bioware - good match up and a hard one to call.

I think Zynga may go all the way though, even beating the almighty Valve.

I don't see how anyone could vote for Ubisoft, what a shit studio.

I have a short memory, but cherish my time spent with Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. I used to believe Ubi was one of the better developers.

If we're talking about game developers that actually release games, I'd say BioWare. If this were circa 1998, I'd vote Blizzard.

Uhh, what? I understand that it's cool to hate MMORPGs, but that's been Blizzard's baby for a few years now. They didn't roll over and shut down their development of shit, they dedicated it to one project. And it's not like Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 aren't on the horizon.

Are you kidding? Blizzard beat Nintendo?

Seriously, I don't think by combining starcraft with the Diablo series could you beat the LoZ series. Then Nintendo has Metroid, Donkey Kong and Mario to combat the Warcraft series.

No contest here for me, Nintendo should of made it to the finals ezcakes

Pretty tough having to pick sides on these companies in the final rounds. I'll just pass. I hope Zynga doesn't win though.

Not to mention Zynga is advertising this contest EVERYWHERE.

I guess winning a contest even they know they don't deserve to win is that important?

I've never even heard of Zynga... The final round should be Valve vs Blizzard no ifs ands or buts.

Kiddy facebook games > One of the most advanced digital distribution applications ever created with millions of concurrent users a day and multiple highly memorable game franchises

Diablo, WC3, and WoW are all that Blizzard has to go show for the past 10 years. One of which, I felt, sucked and the other sucks your life.

Now BioWare's last 10 years is impeccable: Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: KOToR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect 2.

I rest my case.

Valve have taken the lead, it's very close though - only a few hundred votes in it

Farmville is a game where you can farm with your friends!

Nice try, Zynga, you know I have no friends. -_-

The strength of their games is encapsulated in their longevity. So many people still play Diablo 2 and Starcraft a decade+ later, and I don't even need to mention WoW's playerbase. It's not even the same category of games really. They share similarities in settings, but what I'm talking about is multiplayer games (Blizzard) versus single player games (Bioware). Bioware's games are great and memorable, but I'm not playing BG or KotOR constantly for years and years after their release. I might pop them in every few years for a shot of nostalgia, but it's nothing like the type of entertainment I get out of a Blizzard game.

Frankly, Nintendo is a joke now. The rose tinted filter of nostalgia is the only thing that people can ever defend it with anymore. Let's face uncomfortable facts, shall we? Nintendo is fucking horrible now. They don't make games, they make toys for undersexed housebound wives and 8 year olds. The only games they still make are pretty much just re-releases of the same games they've made for the past 20 years.

Justice done, Valve made it to the final by the skin of their teeth.

Bioware disposed of Blizzard in the other semi.

Valve are now beating Bioware in the final.

I'm really not surprised that Valve are coming out on top, they have never made a bad game and are great devs.

keep it updated :)

I cant check it at work, glad to see valve winning!

I can rest in peace now. I hope Bioware takes it, but I'll be happy with Valve too. Blizzard and Zynga got knocked off. That's all that matters.

Well its two amazing developers as far as I can see. Valve have made some of the best gaming experiences for me which I still contibue to follow - Half Life series, Left 4 Dead series, Portal series, Team Fortress etc. hard to beat that level of quality.

But then there is Bioware - Baldurs Gate is one of the best RPGs ever made, their innovation with Neverwinter NIghts allowed me to experienced dungeonmastered games and run my own for a year - 450+ hours of amazing gaming and now some incredible rpg moments in Dragon Age.

Which is better? Hmm. Win-win either way, can't call it!

Forgot to update

The winner....

Valve

Valve 50.3% (13147)

BioWare 49.7% (12988)

Just 159 votes in it!

Personally I'm happy Valve have won, over the years I've got more entertainment out of their games than any other deleveloper

wow was so damn close in the end, it would have been a win win situation either way.

How the hell do these casual browser gamers even know the developer who makes their games, let alone care to vote for something like this? With that said, i'm surprised they made it as far as they did. I sense a rigged battle(facebook has advertising in the site).

Anyways Round 6 will look something like this Valve > Bioware

:D

Pretty epic stuff of how close they were in the votes.

Kojima vs Team Ico what a bitching choice to have to make :(.
meh to Kojima
MGS was one of the very best games ever but then he got too eccentric-Japanese in his games
my vote is for Valve
