Destiny - Discussion Thread

I don't think Ghost's voice is bad, just a little out of place at times. Cortana was so well done though, I don't think much will ever compare for an AI voice.

I have no idea I just play games on my weekend tried it for about 10 minutes only play on the weekends due to eyestrain from LCD monitors along with work using a flicker screen terminal at work.

I'm sure it's 500 million good though =) If Microsoft didn't use the Bungie guys from the last Halo 4 it will just one up Microsoft.

I bet it's better then Killzone Team Deathmatch though =) flanking guys on that game is the biggest joke... spawn camp joke.
 
This is a cool game. I'm glad I have a PS4. I'm really kind of surprised Bungie isn't bringing this to the PC as well because I could easily see it having a nice life there, too.
 
I wasn't originally going to get the game, but now that I've played a couple hours. Hopefully I can get an xbox one code and see how that one performs. I was going to wait for a PC version to come out but I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy it in September.

There is a big halo influence but I don't think its a bad thing. It feels like halo with coop/mmo traits, which early on is fun and engaging.
 
So what's everyone's favorite class for now?

I've played all three and enjoy hunter the most up to level 8.
 
I might actually pick up an Xbox One for this game and all of the media features that come with Xbox One. Is it true I can switch from gaming to my direct tv box with just a simple voice command?

A couple commands, but yeah. The Kinect works really well, most of the time. Even if you tell it to "Go Home" whatever you were watching will keep playing in a small centered window until you launch another application. I haven't tried any of the cable features since I don't have cable but the voice commands are really nice. The only annoying command is "Xbox On" which seems to work less often then the rest of them.

Yes I am enjoying this. It is a very fun game.
I have to use the clear motion on my TV to make it playable, but I don't feel any lag, so its fine.
I think I'm keeping my pre-order, but am cry at this not having a PC version. It's begging for one and I would be much better with a mouse.
 
I'm playing on PS4 and PS3 what a difference honestly after playing on PS4 the PS3 version is still playable but shit compared to PS4.

Will be playing the beta next week on Xbox One and then playing the full game on Xbox One larger friend base and prefer that controller for shooters.

Played the alpha to it is a very fun game so far

I think I'm going to get it for the xbox one as well. Hopefully I can manage to get a beta code for it. I too prefer the xbox one controller.
 
hahahaha, so I purchase an Xbox One, come home and install it. Go online to redeem my code and find out beta for Xbox One starts on the 23rd. WTF......... I guess it's my fault for not researching more :(

Yeah, Sony has the rights to all of the "firsts" for Destiny (Beta, future DLC, etc).
 
I am actually enjoying this game, it has a cross feel of Halo and Borderlands to me. Just tried out MP and that is more like Halo, but fun nonetheless, aside from using a controller in so long.
 
This game is just so much better than Titanfall. How many people even play that nowadays? Wasn't as big of a hit as Microsoft had hoped, lol.

Crazy just how much is going on in this game. Haven't had so much fun on a console game in a long time!
 
The problem with Titanfall is it's a shallow game..Hey I didn't even play it!!!
I watched a Twitch stream of Titanfall and I knew it wasn't going to be all that.. Doesn't matter how much Game Informer lied to you =)

I agree. A nice mix of both with its own fresh spin on everything. The third person Tower area kind of reminds me of KOTOR in some ways superficially.


I really wish I could use a KBM for this. I'd be level 12 instead of 5 right now.

I got as far as passing the tutorial section and then moved to a new house. Need to call my ISP for setup - 50Mb internet here I come!

I am glad to see that a lot of people are liking the beta so far!
 
I read a rumor about the game coming to PC in March 2015. If that turns out to be true, I guess I'll be buying this one twice.

Pretty damned polished for a beta. This thing is more polished than a lot of finals I've played.

Same here. I'll trade in the console version towards the PC version.
 
I played a bit of the beta yesterday. I don't know maybe you guys are seeing something I'm not but it just felt like more halo. Story seems like the same old same old. The AI villains didn't feel anymore interesting or intelligent than Halo one. Graphically it looks fine I suppose. Am I missing something?

I think considering how short the beta is that a final opinion really isn't possible. We only have 1 MP mode , 5 story line missions so that's really nothing compared to what will be out at release.

I think if you are on the fence you should at least consider renting it. You should experience the other parts of the game first and not just the first 3-4 hours of it. Its going to be a huge sprawling game but its not a leveling competition. You'll be able to hit level 20 really fast but after that the meat of the game really begins.
 
Just read that the Xbone won't be 1080p for the beta. Hope they can get to that before launch.

Bungie said that the retail version will run at 1080p/30 thanks to the freeing up of system resources originally reserved for Kinect.
 
Does anyone have a PS4 beta code they don't need? I'd love to try the beta but don't want to pre-order just for beta access.
 
Anyone have an extra xbox one beta code? I preordered it today but I guess they stopped a couple of days ago for the beta codes.
 
Apparently, Destiny will be undergoing maintenance until Wednesday.
The Destiny beta, which opened last week for PlayStation gamers, will be closed for today and tomorrow as Bungie performs maintenance.

That sucks! Though, at least it'll be open to Xbox owners then as well.

It's pretty good so far and I can see myself spending hours just tooling around the world.
 
Damn I forgot about the down time.....So I guess when I get home tomorrow for work it will be offline but should be up on Wednesday for my regular gaming marathon.
Pre ordered it though Amazon cause Gamestop treats their workers like shiot.... I work with about 4 ex: Gamestop workers =)
They don't hang onto they turnover rate is though the roof for Gamestop lets keep the workers fresh like our Wall of X-box 360 games =)

And people said the 10% extra resources wouldnt make a difference...PS4 version also locked 30? If thats the case im getting it on the 1 if i even decide to get it. XBox Live > Sony.

Is this using dedicated servers? I would assume so
 
If it's anything like sniper elite, ps4 is the better option still.

But whatever floats your boat. The game is a blast to play. Something Titanfall failed miserably at.

What about sniper elite made the ps4 version better? Not that it matters i bought it on PC anyways

It's locked to 30 FPS on all platforms. So just get the game on the platform of your choice :). This game would be perfect for cross-platform multiplayer :(...

It would make sense that an open world game of this type would handle peering on dedicated servers.
