I don't play it as often as I did during Forsaken going for Dregen but I love Gambit.. in moderation.
I think if you play enough, some of the things like invader spawns start to be memorized and you can better counter them. Also the age old "let them burn their invade before we trigger the damage phase" is critical. Like it was mentioned, trying to conduct a damage phase while being invaded is a waste of time and very frustrating.
Ultimately, its far easier with a full 4-stack so you can communicate.
My loadouts vary depending on if I want to focus 100% on invading or not but I usually always have a sniper. I feel like nothing can deal with invaders faster, especially if you get a bead on them the second they spawn in. Plus, they can be useful for the PvE portions. Pick off some priority targets then I'll run in and clean up with Recluse.
Heavy is Hammerhead unless my roll is going to be purely PvE then Wendigo comes out.
Then the biggest help to Gambit and one of its biggest problems.. Taken Armaments. Gambit made easy.
