It's being rerouted. I called TigerDirect and they contacted UPS . It's on it's way back to them before I received it.

12/21/2010 9:29 A.M. THE SHIPPER HAS REQUESTED A DELIVERY INTERCEPT FOR THIS PACKAGE / RETURN TO SENDER PENDING

THIS was the proverbial straw:

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...12ahotfix.aspx

NO WAY.

I give up, I'm going to pay the extra dough and go for a GTX-570 once TigerDirect credits my card back.

looks like the link leads to a hotfix.. not sure what the problem is tho.

ok.....so the hotfix made you want to return the card then ?

more power to you, but doesnt make much sense w/o an explination

That is the link. It looks identical to what I posted.

And it is the Hotfix to add some support for the 6900 series cards to 10.2. They launched a product with THAT kind of lame support? Pass!

Plus anyway I turned it the GTX-570 looks to be the superior product. It will likely cost me $80 more, but I'm already looking at spending a lot more than the average person would. I'm planning on blowing some bucks during the Steam sale as well. A couple of games anyway, so I can get my feet wet.

Bottom line is that this is the [H]ard forum, not the limp dick forum. You gotta be some kind of an "enthusiast" to browse here, and likely a full blown loony.

Definition of loony: Your heater fails when its under 20 degrees F outside and your first thought is: "Hmmm, no better excuse to try for some higher overclocks".

So they updated the drivers to make them better and you returned the card makes sense

nVidias' fermi drivers are a complete nightmare right now. Have fun.

Regardless of nV's drivers, a driver update to a new product made you cancel your already shipped order? Have you gone mad?

they update the drivers before you even receive your card and you send it back before you get it? i can't say i'd send it back myself.

is it just me or has amd been rapidly updating their drivers? and yes.. how dare they!

...and the lamest excuse to return a video card goes to ... :p

Seriously dude, why even post about this?

What happens if you drop the packaged driver disc? You'll need to download the updated drivers!

Happens to me all the time. Oh AMD, always making me download their updated drivers. :p

Based on this as well as your previous posts, AMD might be better off losing you as a customer.

Kyle, I figure if I'm going to spend this kind of money I'd rather have the stronger product. And that's the GTX-570.

I don't see a 6970 in YOUR specs...

And I haven't had anything but ATI cards for the past decade. Time for a change.

Insert witty ridicule for OP here---->

A beta driver at release is not unusual for either company. Hell, most initial reviews are carried out with beta/hotfix drivers. Still not sure why AMD has a different name for their beta drivers, but....

Thanks for telling us of your monumental, life changing decision Alaska Wolf, we will all be able to sleep at night now.

Dear God this has gotten old. Nvidia drivers suck, so do AMD. just say it and call it a day. and the OP sending his card back because they added a hotfix? on a just released card?

to eddieck it seems that the Fermi cards have some issue keeping the cpu loaded. apparently its pretty sporadic only showing up here and there. (much like AMD GSOD). so of course its a bitch to fix.

to Makeroflostsouls. I don't think event the Nvidia fans know what he is complaining about. you have a brand new product there are likely to be a few hot fixes as they work out the bugs. and that is likely true of the 570GTX as well. (see above) the good news is the performance of your new card will only get better.

More info please, running 2 480's in SLI Surround @ 3240 x 1920 playing WoW (dx11 enabled), Batman AA, Dirt 2 and TF2. Have yet to experience any crashes.

Thanks for the update, if we need any more info ,we will look you up on Twitter
