A snippet from a preview off io9.com

"Dead Space isn't immersive because there's no HUD or next to no cutscenes: it's immersive because the controls have been tested and massaged so nicely that the difference between what you want to do and what the character onscreen is doing disappears. I know plenty of survival horror fans who believe that the closer to powerless the main character is, the more nightmarish and terrifying the game can be. But Dead Space, like Romero's Living Dead movies, taps into the nightmare that you could survive if you could be on your guard every single second and never, ever make a mistake...but you won't, because you can't."

Has me very excited for this game.

Well... wtf... I haven't seen any threads talking about people playing this lately...

How is it!?

I can't wait for this game to come out. I just don't know what platform to buy it on. PC with headphones or LCD with Surround Sound. Don't really know which one would be better for this type of game.

technoob but that idea is true... the less powerful you are you know that if you are spotted you are going to have to run for it or really fight for your life is more nerve wrecking then knowing you can deal with whatever runs at you.

Try Penumbra: Black Plague ;).

The reviews I have read is that Dead Space actually fails as a horror game :(... Just that made me very disappointing. It´s a good action game they say though but it´s not horror. Don´t know if it´s because it´s to easy or there is to many enemies and to much gore hard to tell. In Penumbra you rarely ever see anyone but you hear them all the time driving you nuts and make you shit your pants when you actually encounter some lol.

Resident Evil 4 is another title that fell into the action trap. I guess today with all the demographics junk noone really dares to really make a horror game as they should be. Penumbra got away with it because it´s being indie and on a lower budget I presume.

Is this title not out yet? Is the clock in my head a week ahead of schedule?!

no my friend/ Few more days until its release.

didnt even know what this was until about 2 weeks ago. It got a really good rating on IGN and im in for a scare so im gonna pick it up.

So who all is picking this up? I've gone from no interest months ago to wanting to pick this up first day now.

yeah i want to get it but there are so many good games coming out that i might wait for a price drop

Sigh... too many extremely good games coming in the next few weeks.. AND i have to get the macbook pro. Bank account is gonna be 0 soon haha.

I've heard about this game and I'll probably get it AFTER Fallout 3 and Fable 2 and on top that next month has Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead. I should start saving in May just for all the holiday releases.

I have watched a few videos and read some reviews and I think this is just the kind of game I need.

EA = DRM = a $50 plastic disc that becomes useless after a small number of installs. I've also read that the PC controls are complete balls.

At first I was tempted to buy it on PS3, but then I decided to just say fuck it. I refuse to support EA's bullshit on any platform.

I'll probably buy it for one of the consoles around the holidays. Too many other games coming out shortly so I won't be getting it right away.
