dead rising impressions

No, the clown shows up in Wonderland Plaza after Otis says the ride there is going out of control on like the first day.

Ok, I guess that's something I'll have to try on another play through. I remember when that call came in from Otis, but at that point I was so annoyed with him that I was just ignoring his messages.

The cons in the center come back. Even after you destroy the hummer. But now I just mix coffee with orange juice, run to the picnic area. That way they can't run you over and the roof of the picnic area is too low for the guy to shoot you. A few shots with the shotgun and they are dead.

I then took the chance to rack up 2500 kills with the hummer.

And yes. That damn mini-chainsaw is the best weapon you can get in the regular game.

For the clown I kept him at a distance with the rifle. That way you triggered him to blow up a balloon, you shoot the balloon causing him to gag. Then fill him with a few rounds. Repeat till he's dead.

Where did you find coffee? And what does the Coffee and OJ combine to make? I've made Spitfire, which is a fun novelty, but not all that useful in game, as well as Nectar and Untouchable, neither of which seem to have much noticable effect. I mean, Nectar seems to be no better than OJ alone, and Untouchable seemed to keep me safe from a few Zombie whacks, but it didn't seem to last long at all.

The coffee is in the security room for a while, then later it will disappear. A other location of the coffee mix is in the Northern section of the mall on the scaffolding right after the entrance (Fountain) on the right side.

Mix coffee and OJ and you get 3x moving speed.

Another thing I am doing this time around is giving all the suvivors katana's, mini saws or a shotgun. Since the weapons don't break or run out of ammo for them it makes them like pack-mules. When you get to the roof, take the weapons away and the level of ammo will be the same as when you gave it to them.

Thats a good idea. Will have to remember it.

So is that Coffee, or the Coffee Creamer, because I've seen the jugs of creamer (looks like chocolate milk). Love the idea of using the survivors as mules, too bad there are none to save when the Spec Ops Machine Guns become available :)

I unlocked the achievement for killing 10,000 Zombies this afternoon. I took the car from the parking lot, drove into the maintenance tunnels, turn right go all the way to the end, turn around come all the way back, then go pick up the truck and do a full loop, then out to get the car again. That path basically lets you continuously run over tons of Zombies and never leaves you without a vehicle. I'd say that I was at about 1,600 killed when I started, and I made probably 8 loops like I just described and got the 10,000 killed achievement.

Challenging yes. I am about ready to give up on the game after 20 or 30 minutes. The first shoot out where you try to save brad is driving me nuts. I just can't seem to kill him. Anyone got any ideas they would like to share?
Go in the courtyard, outside, before night hopefully. Stock up on guns from the police officer zombies.

Get a couple gallons of O.J. because it replenishes your health. Go to brad, get to the place where the gunner is, and climb up on the ledge with him. Shoot him from a distance with the aiming feature, and run when he gets near you.

I wouldn't even bother with the cop pistols. Get the SMG from the ledge above the door to the wearhouse in Paradise Plaza. It's in the same place it was in the Demo, and it respawns.

That SMG is definately one of the most effective weapons you can get in this game. It really helps out with some boss fights, and is good for clearing a crowd when you need to get somewhere.

I just earned the "Snuff Shot J" achievement. It's an incredibly small window of time that you have to earn it. Something like 15 minutes of game time, which is about 1 minute of real time.

"Snuff Shot J" is for snapping a photograph of Jessie after she turns into a Zombie. That happens just prior to Midnight on the 3rd day. You have until about 12:15 to snap the photo. If the Spec Ops dudes have started their attack, it's too late, she will already be gone. She is in the hallway behind the monitor room of the security room, right next to where you save games.

Anyone been having problems with their 360 playing this game? The folks at Arstechnica make it sound like this game is really pushing the XBOX 360 pretty hard, and quite a few people are talking about it killing (or at least freezing) their system. Any problems from you guys? I just ordered this game a few days ago.

Better yet, go straight to the gun store and grab a riffle or two. And a shotgun. Snipe him from across the level.

Snuff Shot J, yeah, I got that both times I played through. I guess "B" is near where you get the key to the doors.

Funny thing. I went to take a pic of her corpse and I got an erotica shot. Then I noticed you can see up her skirt if you move just right, so I did and snagged 1000pp. Funny how she is dead and it still gives erotica points.

Nah, it's the ClownSaws (MiniSaws). Every boss I came up against went down in less than 10 seconds...minus the snipers, I had to take the Quickstep to catch them and slice them up) and Isabella (ridding the hog). Make it a point to have it for every boss fight.

Thinking about how the game is set up, once you have a time-table you will know what will happen when.

Anyone have problems with the women hanging from the pink statue? Or the old lady on top of the giant soccer ball? They are surrounded by so many zombies that I can't get them out.

I freakin' forgot to use the Vietnam Vet guys key. What does it do?

And now I am stuck. I am in the control room and the SpecOps guys are around and I have just a bat and a bucket. I have 45 minutes (7 hours) till the game is over. I'll let it wind down when I wake up.

Man, what a let down. This game is way more frustrating than it is fun, and just gets downright boring after a while.

In recent news... the game dead rising was banned for sexual content.

How?

I hate to sound like a jerk, but I didn't think the boss battles were all that hard. 90% of the time, it's a matter of just finding the right place to stand, and then shooting away. I killed Carlito my first time through while taking practically no damage using only the pistol.

Here's my advice:
1. Ignore all scoops, with the exception of the one that gives you the shortcut. Try the fancy stuff once you're higher level, and can tolerate a bit more punishment.
2. The first thing to do in every new game, after raiding Paradise Plaza for the katana and SMG, is make a beeline for the gun shop. Grab at least a shotgun and sniper rifle, and as much else as you can carry. It is much easier to raid the place BEFORE Cletus and the survivors show up.
3. If you are feeling especially brave, go into the maintenance tunnel and grab the key from there. It's not a bad time to learn to drive. You should be able to grab the guns and the key with plenty of time to finish Case 1.
4. Shotguns are your friends in melee boss fights. Some fights that seem difficult become trivial with them. SMGs and sniper rifles are better for ranged battles.
5. Cover is everything in ranged combat. Frank leans to the right when shooting, so stand ever so slightly to the right-center of hard cover, and shoot from there.

Because some people enjoy different types of games. While you or I might look at the game as a challenge, other people may look at it as a chore. They just want to be able to go straight into unlimited mode and kick the crap out of zombies without worrying about time limits and redoing boss fights 15 times.

There is nothing wrong with either view, and people are certainly entitled to their opinions. Personally I wish the game gave us two save slots, but one which you could only use to save right before a boss fight and one for regular saves. I hate having to run across the entire mall 15 times just to redo a boss fight.

Its frustraing because of the save system, enemies that randomly respawn, the survivors whose AI seems to have been pulled from a 2600 game, aiming, etc. The fighting gets boring because even though theres tons of weapons you can use, only maybe 8 of them are the least bit effective.

I think maybe I just set my hopes too high, this was the 360 game I was looking forward to and I feel a little dissapointed in what it turned in to.

I thought that there was a set number of zombies in the game. :(

All the AI in the game sucks... 'cept the zombies!

The NPC AI is actually dumber than that of the zombies...escoring these tards has to be the most frustrating thing ever.

"Hey, I've made it through a pack of thousands of zombies and I'm home free! OH SHIT, I SEE A PENNY BACK THERE!"

*NPC runs back into the living sea of zombies to get torn to shreds (Without bothering to swing the weapon I just gave him, no less...I guess he intended to beat the zombies through non-violent resistance).

Yeah, oh man I feel the pain of dumb NPC's. They will have a clear path then stop to shoot zombies, and then get over-powered by the ones coming from the back.

**Damn, forgot to read the books.

I just realized what I did wrong when I was on the first trip through. At 12pm I was on the roof waiting, NOT directly on the helipad. So I got ending C. This time I was on the pad and got I guess B.

There are lots of small details that build up to near frustrating levels with this game. The fact that there isnt an easier difficulty setting, how it's a chore to unlock infinity mode, and infiniti mode is also restricted as well since your health drops every 2 minutes. The enemies respawning is also frustrating, as this town has a set population. If they respawned in a dynamic manner, it would be more interesting. However, they seem to respawn in the same location with the same type of zombie each time. With every detail combined together, it really has become a chore and not a game. People have said it before, and I also feel that the minute a game starts frustrating me, is the minute that the game is no longer a game. However, this game is so unique that it is worth it with me still giving it a rating of 8 out of 10.

Purchased it and I tried to give the game a fair chance - Honestly I thought the game sucked.

I only played until I got to Carlito shoot out in the food court but nothing between that justified $20 let alone $63.25.

The saving is just ridiculas. The text is super small and you need to be a fast reader or you miss a lot of what is going on. The phone or radio rings at the worst time and it rings over and over with the same message even if you previously answered that call. The loading constantly is very frustrating and well...I think that was enough to justify me returning this. Luckly they sold me the last shelf copy as new so I was able to do a return since that is how I received the game.

1. You were hanging up before the call ended. That's why you kept getting the same call.
2. The loading only occurs when you go from one area to the next... and it only lasts like six seconds?

Has anyone else got a glitch where no matter what you do the helicopter pilot doesnt see you on the helipad? I've tried everything and no matter what I do I get the same bullshit ending where he doesnt see me on the helipad. This is ridiculous.

Where are you standing? You can't be on the roof, you gotta be on the pad, not on the steps to the pad... on the pad.

Oh, can you ever ride the tank?

What?!

That really sucks. I have been way to busy at work as of late but was really looking forward to just running around in infiniti mode where I didn't have to mess with stupid boss battles and have some fun. I don't want to have to worry about health other then building it back up because I got hit.

how do you find out how to use your new attacks. like when you level up I just got judo throw. but I have no idea how to use my new attacks.

Press start, go to stats or character info or whatever, and there will be a skills subsection. :) Rewards are random; I haven't gotten judo throw yet. I got the all important jump kick move though.

I hit level 50 two nights ago, so I've got all of the special moves now. However I find that I still rely almost exclusively on jump kick. Some of the others are very powerful, but they are more of a novelty than anything.

Jump kick = most important move ever. I beat Brock SOLELY with the jump kick. It was pretty awesome.

good question, I bought it the same day it came out and I find myself asking that question offen.

it feels like GTA with zombies really. so if you like gta u would like this.

You going to run it on a hdtv, monitor via vga, or through svideo? If yes then yea I would say this game is worth getting. If you have a normal tv and the system is connected via rca then no it is not worth getting.

I beat the game with the small fuzzy text, it wasn't that horrible. Just made some things hard to read.

And s-video has the same resolution limit as RCA (composite), so I don't know why you'd say it would be that much different - I mean, s-video provides better image quality, but not a resolution increase. The text would be just as hard to read.

The jump kick is so badass.

Indeed it is. I used the Jump Kick to beat the final boss. Took me probably 6 tries before I finally realized how to get the most out of it.

I waited until he tried to block one of my punches.... then kept punching through his defense for about 2 minutes til he died. I figured I glitched every other boss to kill him... why stop with this one? ;)

edit: until the 2nd time through when I got the 3 books for the mini chainsaw. Then fighting the bosses was like like playing on easy mode :)

Steve hooked it up via svideo and said it was much beter. I haven't tried it myself. Reading the text on 4 different normal tvs from sitting back and none of my friends could really make it out without getting closer to the tv where it was still a bitch. It is not something I would recomend.

It's been a long time since I played a game like this (finish the game, start over, finish the game.. start over... etc).

Still haven't gotten the Mega Buster.

Just curious did they give you a mode in the end with no time limit, you get to explore everything and just kill at your own pace? I hate time limits and this game sounds like its all about time limits.
