I have a random question: is anyone out there still using DDR or has everyone moved on? Currently, I'm trying to squeeze the most out of my current setup and planning to jump to 4 gigs, but with the new DDR2/3 RAM sets, DDR is hard to come by. I was just curious to see how many people are still using DDR versus the newer versions. Also, where could I find a cheap set of 2-3-2-5 2 x 1gb sticks?

No option for multiple choices?? I have several systems and use a variety of RAM types. My main is on DDR2 (8GB FTW), I've got a DDR P4 system, and couple of old PC100 SDRAM systems.

Same here. DDR3 is pretty much the only kind of RAM that isn't used by at least one of my PCs.

i keep my old systems. i still have a AXP with ddr3200 in it on standby.

I'm currently using SDR, DDR and DDR2. If I ever put my DOS system back together I'll also be using 72 pin SIMMs. I also have some 30 pin SIMMs laying around somewhere.

My machine runs DDR3 (2GB), the wife's is DDR2 (4GB), the HTPC is also DDR2 (1GB).

My main machine and server both have 8gb of DDR2 each. My 2 laptops each have 4gb DDR2. I am working on a I7 build and just got 12gb of DDR3.

My "rebuild-every-few-weeks-experimental-server" is a socket 478/P44 3.0 with 1.5gb of DDR and my wife's PC is a C2D/AGP/2GB DDR. Her laptop is a P4 3.0/w 1.2gb of DDR.

My new work laptop is 4gb of DDR2 plus everything in my sig is DDR2.

All my DDR2 was purchased this year, so I don't expect to have anything DDR3 until about 2010, maybe 2011. :p

Still use DDR. In fact, I just ordered 4GB from newegg to breathe some life into a couple old machines. Personally, I'm still not done with 939 and don't plan to be for at least another year. I've thought about it a lot and there is just no reason for me to upgrade my entire platform right now. Maybe when/if games start to show some signs of becoming CPU limited with an opty 165 at 1650x1080, I'll take the leap. Hopefully AMD will still be competitive then...

S939 lives on :p

I would look at ebay for some memory with lifetime warranty. I jsut picked up 2GB of G.skill PC 4000 for my old S939 setup. Of course it was not cheap but I do see deals on there, the good stuff is still expensive though.

i've been out of the loop for a while it seems cuz i was in staples the other day and all they had was ddr2 available. made me feel like i'd been living in the the last century since i hadn't heard anything about ddr2 until i went looking for some more ram... hopefully, that won't happen again ;)

Wow, DDR2 has been around since 2004. We've had DDR3 for almost two years now.

Well two out of the three desktop machines I'm running use DDR3 DIMMs. The other one uses DD2 FB-DIMMs.

My main machine uses the FB-DIMMs so I voted "other."
