DC Vault

Okay, I've gotten some points on the board for RC5-72, but is it always this slow to update the stats? It seems to only update once a day, and this is all I can find for my stats on their server:
http://stats.distributed.net/participant/psummary.php?project_id=8&id=471263

I also can't seem to get my points for it (or F@H for that matter) to show up on my free-DC page: http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=usermain&name=Jathanis I'm using the number 471263 from the above link in the stats tool page, but it doesn't seem to be retrieving anything... Any ideas? (Moar patience?!) :D

yes.. rc-5 only updates once a day.. at 23:59 UTC time..

did you add your self to the team yet?

as for the Free-DC thing.. thats odd.. no clue why its doing that..

I did, and dnet is finally showing me as contributing points to the team with EricE & metallicafan today - guess I'll just wait until tomorrow to see if it's just a problem/lag with free-DC... :( Then I'll go bug Bok!

well i finally made the move to the p95 SoB client.. wishing i had done it sooner.. one of my cores is doing 8924207 jEMs/s thats 2.1 million jEM/s more then it was doing with the standard client.. and another core is doing 6181706 jEMs/s.. i have 2 of the standard clients going still so i can finish up the entire test packet on each of those..

Congrats metallicafan on 1 MILLION BOINC pernts!

That's a hell of a lot of crunching - Rock on [H] commando!

Next up, sirmonkey! 200K to go... Should be easier with the 10K ppd you're putting up in GPUgrid, right? :D

Thanks guys. I guess I didnt even realize I made it past. Saw it was coming up a couple weeks ago and then kind of forgot about it. Hopefully the second million wont take me as long as the first one. :D

Nice going on the 5 mil Razor! Any more word on Aqua going to the Vault? I switched back from Aqua to the GRID for now.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the stats to be updated for SoB Sieve?

Also, do I have to join a team or when I joined SoB is that enough?

both above questions are why i dont run SoB sieve.. good luck to ya..

we should be in 9th place on W@H later today.. only a 1000 points short..

We moved up in W@H. Thoughts on next steps? I'll be able to add another quad next week, but it'd take a committed effort to stay ahead of the Cows. I'm thinking we add a little cushion to keep our current spot, and then I'll leave 2 cores on it and go back to BOINC.

i dont think we will have a problem staying where we are in W@H.. ill leave my x2 6400+ on it.. since W@H seems to be the one DC project that cpu actually gets decent points on..

and ill keep kickin ass on SoB for as long as i can.. some day next week i need to reseat my heatsink though on my 940.. temps just seem out of wack.. cant keep them under 55C which is extremely high compared to what i usually run..

I am going to keep working on Enigma until we reach 9k for it.

Then i'll be fighting sirmonkey to try and hold him off in SoB.

Yep. We are getting pretty close. I think I'm going to stay on Enigma until we hit 250K. that would get us into like 36 or so place in Engima. Then I think that I will head back over to ABC@home and work on getting that one to 9K. ABC is the last BOINC project in the Math section that we dont have 9K Vault points in.

According to Free-DC, we'll be passing 6 teams in the next 3-4 days, then the next one is 8+ out. I'm sure I have enough WU in queue to see me that far (3 days, not 8), but I have no idea what's next... I'll probably do some Docking since that's both the lowest BOINC project I have and the second lowest Bio/Med project we have.

I really think we're going to have to figure out a strategy to get the 8K pernts we need to get to #11 - the last 3K have been pretty slow going!

yeah it does seem like it has slowed down but at least we keep gaining points for the most part.Usually we can do about 100 points an update.

I think we have gotten to the point where we cannot make quick points.

We have 13 projects that are 9k.
We have 14 projects that are 8k.
We have 4 projects that are 7k.
We have 0 projects that are 6k.
We have 3 projects that are 5k.
We have 2 projects that are 4k.
We have 0 projects that are 3k.
We have 0 projects that are 2k.
We have 1 projects that are 1k.

Since the 1k is SoB sieve and the 4ks are PSP maybe we should work on the other 5k or 7k projects.

5k projects: Eon, Muon, GIMPS
7k projects: EulerNet, OGR-27, SoB, Majestic12

After Enigma I am going to work on SoB but other than that what is listed above are good options. None of them are boinc but these are the projects we could gain the most points in easily.

Edit: Only 3 of the 8k projects are under 8500 points.

We are just too [H]ard.

So what you're saying is I should be doing less RC5 and more OGR? :D But you're right about where to focus, if we could just get the 3 5K projects up to 9K, that would easily move us into the next spot. Question is, how are Eon, Moun, and GIMPS to run?

Eon isn't too bad just a seperate client.
GIMPS is the same as Eon maybe slightly better yet long WUs like weeks sometimes.
I have never tried Muon.

It's going to be really tough to make progress in Eon unless we all jump on it. That's why I stopped. There's talk of removing it from the Vault.

Muon might be worth a push. I've never run it.

I'm going to put my new quad on GIMPS. It has various WU sizes, so you can either run the small ones or the month-long ones. I think there's a lot of points to be made here.

We can still make decent progress on some of the higher-point projects. For example, we just got to 8K in Cosmo and there's still a lot of dead teams above us. Getting to 9K would be nice.

Edit: PSP Proth/PRP uses LLRnet just like NPLB. It's very easy to run. If we did a push, we should be able to overtake some of the teams above us in 2-3 months. Most of the teams are inactive, but they might restart if they see us coming. It's possible to "dump" a lot of points at once in this project by running offline, so that's an option. If we were able to overtake 4 teams, that's 1.5K pernts (which still puts us at only 6K pernts in the project).

PSP sounds like a good idea and since its llrnet it is pretty simple to set up.

I'll work on some PSP after Enigma and SoB.

I just decided to switch from NPLB to SoB/PSP sieve. My first reserved range should be done on Thursday. I'm using the Bartistrator batch file from here and it seems to be working nicely. That page also has some nice Free-DC style Eulernet stats.

Tonight = MOAR D

Tell me how your SoB sieveing experience goes. I completed 2 sets of 100g and am now working on 1000g. Both blocks are completed yet I am not sure if I am getting points.

Do you only get points when you actually find a factor?

Good luck to you. :)

I think I'm going to stop all my BOINC for a while and go back to the Chimp Challenge for a few weeks...

Nah, not really... Seriously, I have a day or two of Enigma left which should let us overtake the four or five easy threats above us, then I'm moving my quad and two duals over for a big push in Docking - hopefully we can get that up to 9K as well. Then I'll switch all my RC5 over to OGR to see if I can't help get that 7500 mark up a bit...

After Engima I will hop over and help you out on Docking. :)

I fired up my 4850 tonight to give tr0ach some help with Milkyway. We have lost some ground there as of late. I cant run the card full time but I'll churn out a few WUs.

I might join in the Docking push. Aqua aborted most of my queued WUs, so I'm just completing what I have and then I'll move on.

BTW, I got some Lattice work today. I don't know if it's all gone by now or not. I've started leaving it active on my BOINC machines so that I pick up some work when it's available.

I just added about 30k PPD to the WCG

[H] Commandos!

Also added a 9800GT to GPUgrid

Wow! Thats great. Welcome to the Horde. The GRID teams seem to the gaining steam!

Sazan how'd the new build go?

Razor, I finished my sieve, and I have two log files that look like this:

Code:
06/23/09 14:02:00 sr2sieve 1.7.15 started: 991 <= n <= 49999997, 70136300000000000 <= p <= 70136375000000000
06/25/09 01:59:15 sr2sieve 1.7.15 stopped: at p=70136375000000000 because range is complete.
06/25/09 01:59:15 Found factors for 0 terms in 129445.771 sec. (expected about 0.05)

I don't have a fact.txt. Since I found no factors, I assume there's nothing to submit. Do I just go to the reservation tool, edit my reserved range, and say Factors Found = 0 and I'm finished?

It looks like you only got points for SoB sieve when you actually found a factor. Is that how it works?

Sazan how'd the new build go?

You can read about my issues in this thread, but now that everything is resolved I'll start a new build thread with pics, assuming I get F@H working today.

Edit: found the answers to my sieve questions here. Just started a second range of 500G.

Sazan, For getting points you only recieve points when you find a factor. If you already have a name under the normal SoB then the points will correctly go to the team. As seen here.

I dont like that if you do alot of work and don't find any factors you don't get points. Oh well it seems that the points are more chance than anything else.

Edit:: I'd also like to say thanks to all the members who are holding a single project afloat. I know for one I am happy that we have mfl0p for OGR-27. :) And to all the others keep up the good work :)

Thanks, Eric. I created a SoB account to go with my PSP account even though I have no SoB points, so I should be good if I ever find a factor.

QFT :D Keep crunching, folks.

Well, the HD on my quad box has been teetering on the edge for a while, and my wonderful electric company chose today to replace my meter with no warning, so now I can't boot into Windows... Meaning half my BOINC and all my F@H is downing for as long as it takes me to reinstall XP to a new HD

Wish me luck!

edit: well, that only took 5-1/2 hours... but I managed to reseat my heatsink while I was at it and dropped my full load temps on core 0 (my hottest) from the low 70s to the high 50s... Time for some OC fun!

Good work Jathanis. Cooler temps are always a bonus to a rebuild! :)

Looks like we made it to 9K Vault points in Enigma. Nice work fellas! It looks like there is a couple more teams that we can easily jump there so Im going to keep a few cores on it for the weekend. Then I'll move onto Docking completely. Got my account setup and one dual core on it now.

Seems kind of lame that you only get points in SOB sieve if you get lucky enough to find a factor. Its kind of based on luck more than how much processing you do. Oh well.

Hello everyone, thought I would drop a quick note that I will be back from vaction on about July 7th.
Happy crunching.

Have a good vacation man. Where you headed?

You leaving your boxen crunch while your gone or powering them down?

^ What he said - hope you have a relaxing week!

I just added about 30k PPD to the WCG

Damn, you just mowed my entire year's work in WCG (30,116) in a day with those PPD numbers!

And since I totally missed this with my boxen troubles & flaming posts, welcome to the Commando fun - where we have plenty of "team spirit"! :D I managed to swap my low profile work computer out for the tower case of an employee who left, and it has an empty PCI-E slot just sitting there... gotta find a cheap CUDA card to throw in there for GPUgrid, as I still can't bring myself to pull my home GPUs off of F@H.

Actually my PPD just took a huge hit, my Phenom II quadcore borg (at 3.8ghz) just had a mobo die so it'll be down for a little over a week. BUT! i'm making up for that by having a 9800GTX come in the mail to replace my 9800GT.

I'm putting the 9800GT into my fathers box hes currently building which I will of course make him run WCG and GPU grid :D. He's gettin a Phenom II dual core, which I plan on putting a few extra hundred MHz on for the [H]orde. Should provide about 8k PPD more in WCG and another 5 thousand or so more BOINC points for GPUGrid

what the heck.. you already killed a motherboard with the phenom II on it? damn am i the only one that hasnt had any bad luck "yet" with motherboards? well besides the pos m2n-sli deluxe board's ive rma'ed 5 times now..

No its a friends computer. Michael (friend) lost his twin brother's (david) phone, so David grabbed his compy and pulled it from the wall while it was on and ran with it haha.

Apparently that killed the motherboard. I personally thought it was hilarious... until I realized that my top producing computer will be down for like 14 days....

Edit: I just decided to put my e6300 onto Docking, we seem to be a bit behind there! Just splitting work 50/50 for now with WCG. I told WCG to stop fetching work so it'll work through these 10 or so left and then go 100% into docking. I'll probably put 20k BOINC pernts into docking before going back to WCG.

ha ha!!! most likely the noob brother of his dropped the computer.. :p

does the system turn on at all? if it does tell him to pull the cmos battery and reset the bios.. it might of just corrupted the bios..

He just wanted to RMA it since it came with a dead ethernet port anyways...

Still trying to finish off the SoB Sieve and working on SoB trying to hold of sirmonkey

I think by the end of this week I will be adding moar D! Hopefully a new i7 rig! :)

right now im having to deal with insanely high temps on my phenom II 940.. so ive had to run 2 or 3 threads on the p95 client to keep it under 56C so that i dont overheat the PWM's/mosfets..
