Right, but we moved up to #14 because BONIC.BE got a goose egg on OGR-27. It will get corrected and we'll be back to 15 where we actually belong.

Well, maybe BOINC.BE really has zero in OGR-27 and did earn that 9000 point drop.

I was thinking that, but neither " Belgian MoOo Farm" or "BOINC.BE" show up on distributed.net, so ...

On another note, I finally get to join the Quad core fun, thanks to Sunin! Once I install the Q6600, should I only use 3 of the 4 cores for BOINC, and leave the 4th core to manage my 2 9600GSOs? I noticed that running BOINC on both cores of my 2180 showed about a 50% drop in ppd on GPU0, but only running one core with BOINC has gained me almost 2K ppd - does this seem normal?

Make sure you have your Core Priority set to "slightly higher" in the GPU client configuration. That way the GPUs will get the 1% or so of the CPU they need, but BOINC will use the rest. I run all sorts of stuff at 100% on my CPUs while folding, and I haven't had any problems.

Well there goes our OGR-27 points as well.

edit:: Seems like many have lost OGR-27. Ars lost the top spot because of it for the time being.

Thanks for the tip - I thought I had done that, but maybe the client for my GPU0 borked itself, I'll double check it when I get home...

just so everyone knows SIMAP is back up and running.. so if you dont have it set to get projects.. do it now..

also for anyone running the phenom II 940 or thinking about it for boinc the current stats for my 940 @ 3.4ghz

Benchmark Results:
number of CPU's: 4
3411 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
7325 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

basicly comparing this to my dual core BE-2350 @ 3.05 ghz.. it does 3500 more integer MIPS per CPU.. seems the floating point isnt much different..

just thought id let yall know.. i figure at about 3.8ghz it will do some where near the 9000 integer MIPS range if i compare it to the jump in stats when i went from 2.1 to 3.05ghz on my be-2350..

Hey tr0ach if you see this I am going to be working hard at trying to stay with you on SoB. Theres alot of dead weight above us on the project and we could gain alot of easy points.
:)

Thanks Sazan - that was the key. One of my two instances of F@H was reset to lowest possible, now I'm back to 2X F@H GPU & 2 cores of BOINC!

And 1500 pernts from my next free year of GenMay! :D

That's about half a 940BE @ 3.4. I'll be there about 2 more days before I throw everything at wieferich@home. I want everything on blast when we pass rechenkraft and crunchers inc, so they think twice about getting frisky :) Then I'll come back to SOB/GIMPS with what should be 3 quads by then. Giving me 16 cores. That's teh last damn thing I'm buying until these new graphics cards come out, *blows dust out of wallet* :) . I Don't care what place I'm in, I just try to make myself useful.

Installed BOINC and setup primegrid. Looks like I'm rocking away here. 9th member to our primegrid team. Have my sig rig devoted to it. Will look at some of the other BOINC projects in the future. Is there any other specific BOINC project I should look at to devote 1 or 2 cores to? I'm open to suggestions.

Right now Genetic Life (which was just added) is where you can make the biggest impact. The main site is here.

I repeat for everyone else. Genetic Life has been added.

BOINC.BE is a bit higher in Genetic Life than we are, and knocked us back down to #15. Its good to see the Calvary coming. :D

Genetic Life is not friendly to AMD chips. I would point them at another project and leave this one to Intel rigs. It runs fine but when it comes time to validate and get credit you get screwed bad. Example, some of the wu's done on my Phenom II 810 would claim 320 points but if the wingman was using Intel I would get granted 27. Maybe that's not the norm but it's enough to sour me on running my AMD stuff on this project.

I just started my E6400 on Genlife to verify the issue.

Are you sure about this? Every unit that I've completed has not had a wing man and I've been granted the claimed credit every time on the BE-2400 I've got going.

I'm going to stop running PSP-PRP on two of my machines so that I can get back into BOINC, and hopefully make better progess on GIMPS. I also switched temporarily from EON to W@H to give us an extra boost past Rechenkraft and Crunchers.

None of my task seem to have wingman.
I am still trying to fight a new bandwidth cap imposed in my area. I might not be running at full power while I trying and keep up with my idiotic ISP way of communication.

I'm up to 11k pts already, my average keeps going up, but right now is at 1k. Had about 45 minutes of down time this afternoon after it couldn't connect to the server and then waited 1 hour.

Seems like you caught the bug! After the first taste you want to see how how your RAC can go and just keep adding more and more computers! At this rate you could over take me in PrimeGrid very quickly. I'll have to come back after we have a good score on GenLife. If only I had the money to buy an i7. haha.

There are small and large GenLife wu's. The small ones don't have a wingman and match up with Intel evenly. The large one's do have a wingman and you get screwed if you match an AMD chip against an Intel. Check out this wu and you will see what I am referring to.

Yeah I know what you mean in regards to the bug. About 3 years ago I had 5-6 computers going in a little studio apartment running off of a diskless linux distro running F@H. I'm glad I wasn't paying the power back then. Made it to the top 75 on the team and then the gpu cores started coming out and I couldn't keep up.

The i7 sure helps right now, and makes the other 2 spare computers I have right now look like pocket calculators(p4 xeon and amd 2800+). There is no good place to set those up in my current apartment, and the p4 xeon set-up is LOUD.

What do they base the granted credit off of? A lot of mine they grant me 1 point less then claimed. Just curious. Most of my wu's are only 4-5 points.

If your looking for big points fast with PrimeGrid, and have a 64bit OS, you should run the AP26 Search. With my X4 810 I do 4 wu's in ~12 mins and get 13.6 points per wu. Where else can you get more then 1 point per min per wu?

Not really looking for big points fast. I did add the AP26 to my PrimeGrid projects. Don't know if I unselected it last night or if it was never selected. I should add more LRRs, since it would be cool to find a prime.

its based off your actual benchmark score for your cpu.. if you go to advanced then cpu benchmark it will run a benchmark and tell you the actual stats its basing the points on your cpu..

It should also be noted that not every project scores work this way, as you'll see if you move between projects. SHA-1 Collision and FreeHAL for example have set scores per unit.

right.. but the majority of them base it off the stats.. though for some reason my granted points seem to be double what my requested points are with my 940 where as its the opposite for my x2 6400+..

FreeHAL now allows contributers to set the number of simultaneous work units to be downloaded and ran. MAX 25 !!
The FreeHAL rules clearly say that a contributer is allowed 25 units per physical computer with the extra allowance of an additional 25 units per physical computer that must be run on a virtual machine.
Total allowed per computer is 50.
25 for computer +25 for a virtual machine on that same computer.
Violators of these rules will have there points reduced.
The Admin of FreeHAL has published a list of yesterdays violations and they have until tomorrow to reduce their max download limit to 25 or they will receive a penalty of -30% of total points each day until they comply with the rules.
Nice to see no one from our team on that list.:)

Great, they had enough trouble keeping people with work before, now they're potentially increasing the work production by a factor of 25.

In the latest update, GeneticLife@Home was moved from Physical to Biological. It caused a shake-up in the rankings of those two categories, but overall points didn't change. It looks like more teams are starting to crank on GenLife, but we're still making nice progress.

Only 1386.73 points behind the ninjas.

According to my stats, if we maintain the same rate of progress as the last week (highly unlikely, but anyway) we will overtake the following teams soon:

Team Ninja - 1.2 days
Crunchers Inc - 29.7 days
TeAm AnandTech - 31.4 days

Top 10 here we come! :p

We need to cut down those second two. Our production will be fine until May 5, but it should be making a HUGE drop around there. :p
