Too many cool projects, not nearly enough "D".

If anyone is running Windows 32bit we could use some help in the SZTAKI Desktop Grid project.
I have one 32 bit OS and SZTAKI hates the PC its running on.
I have only been able to complete some of the little units, but it seems they are not giving those out anymore.
I check everyday but only get the large units which do not seem to run very well on my system.
Thanks everyone.

I've been desperately trying to post some points on both SZTAKI and Sudoku, but both large WU's are fighting ever core in my meager farm... Here at work, I have a SZTAKI WU with almost 11 hours of run time still at 5%, and one of my machines at home has almost double that in run time only at 15%. But since this is a holiday weekend, I can leave my work box on, and I'm going to suspend everything but SZTAKI to try and finish the two WU in the queue. Depending on how the progress goes by next Tuesday, I may just dump it and move on to something else. 17 current projects on 3 CPUs (one Celeron, one Pentium 4 HT, and one Pentium dual core) is stretching things a bit thin until I can afford moar "D" :D

Similarly, I have a few Sudoku WUs running, but the one on my 1.4 GHz lappy at home errored out after 16 hours, so I got none of the 121 pernts requested... That Lappy is going to all SHA-1 and other small WUs this weekend! Need a damn quad core to anchor this farm...

Go try some climateprediction and get back to me about big WU's. I've still got one on every single box from the day we started this. 7 Hour estimate for SZTAKI vs. 300 Hours for climateprediction. :D

Thanks Jathanis for all your work.
Let me know if the SZTAKI's ever finish. Your getting the same type of long work time and no percentage movement I am (was).
Maybe I just didn't have enough patience but after 24 hours I think it out to move a little.
I did notice after a long run time on them if you shut down and reboot the system, start the project again that sometimes it will show another 5%-10% jump but then sticks there for good.
Let me know how it turns out.

I haven't had to much trouble with the Sudoku's so maybe that one error you got was just a bad unit.

Yeah I'd love to through an i7 in my mix! I'm saving the pennies up..Hope maybe in the next 2-3 months I can start building one.

I noticed that as I work on the climateprediction's and get lets say 15% done that I get a small score for that amount of work without getting it all done.
So I just do a little of one here and there and I get credit as I go.
Try selecting the climate project after some time has been put in and do the manual update on it.
It usually took a few days for me to see the credit in DC-Free but it shows up.

Thanks alan, I keep looking at the lower score there and bugs me I can't do anything about it.:D

I hear you on that. Pretty much anything under 5000 points annoys me at this point. I was attacking Docking and Rectilinear but if I can actually complete some work on SZTAKI now, I'll stick there a bit. And actually, that unit I thought errored out was just a really small unit. :D

And Mr Flibble, I see you guys are on malariacontrol.net. How the hell do you go about getting an invite?

Yea, I've got 14000 points on nothing complete. I'd just like to get them done and out of contention for CPU time. The resource share of 25 isn't helping though I'm sure. :D

There's no work on malaria right now. We didn't need an invite when our team was made so I don't know about getting one.

Needs an invite AND no work? This calls for a campaign to get it kicked out. :D

Yeah I noticed that we were a little low in the Sudoku project as well so I started a couple units last night. I was slightly surprised to see an estimated 37 hour WU time! :D I guess you know that you have a big WU when the deadline is 11/11/2009. :D

I've been putting a lot of resources towards ABC lately. I think i will slowly switch a few cores over to sudoku to give us a bump there.

Heck yeah! We're tearing that project up.:)

Well I tried to snag a cheap GTX280 off of buy.com but I just got a email canceling the order. :( I was hoping to add some more 'D' to the RC5 project. I guess I'll have to watch for another deal. Man $200 for a 280 would have been a steal.

But yeah we are doing well in that project. Looks like we are in the Top 20 of daily team output. Good work guys.

i have my gpu running rc5 wish i could run the cpu client as well but it refuses to let me run it..

Try having them BOTH on the same box at the same time. I had 4 projects running concurrently on a quad. GPUGrid, WCG, CPDN and SZTAKI. I've got 6.4.2 on it for running the GPU and the scheduler is AFU on it. I completed a last GPU unit and chose not to get any more until I get this mess cleaned up. Right now it is working 8 WU concurrently, 5 active and 3 cycling in every 2 hours. I've got 1 CPDN with 4 hours left to completion and 3 SZTAKI's that have been running for 3+ days.

One of the SZTAKI's has 3 days/5hrs on it @45% and says it only has 4 more hours to go. The other two have between 1 and 2 days active on them and both say they'll finish at a little over 3 days. But they're only at 20 and 25%.... They've got until the 26th to finish and so far show almost 3500pts between the 3 so far. I'll be pissed if I lose all those days and points. I think I'll not run any more until I upgrade to 6.6.x and see if they run any better.

Alright, I'm starting to finish some SZTAKI units. there's 7 sitting there pending validation, so we should see some movement soon.

And nomad, you should've seen my poor E6400 when I was starting teams and helping get Razor's teams going. Just taking a unit or two from each, I had over two screen fulls of units waiting to run. And that includes CPDN, SZTAKI, Sudoku and a giant CPU SETI unit. :D

Should be another great update for SZTAKI, we're going to fly through a LOT of dead weight on the next update, somewhere in the 730's based on what's on the board now. And I've got close to 900 more points pending. :D

im already spread to thin as it is.. got 1 system doing sha1, WCG, seti.. this one doing WCG sha1 RC5 and had to shut off 4 of my other systems to save power..

I just noticed a couple commando's signed up for Dimes, but without a single measurement. Client trouble? Just hate the client? The measurements should start rolling in after a couple minutes. :D

I let it run for an hour before shutting it down, my three boxen are pretty heavily loaded at the moment. :(

I could never get it to register. I kept getting internal error from the server.
I'll try again here in a day or so. Does it show me as a registered user?

Somethings not right then. I'm getting about 1000 measurements per day per box, so you should have gotten something in that time.

The reason I've been so big on Dimes since we started this is that the whole time I've ran it, it only takes between 1% and 3% of a single CPU core. And that's on everything from a Pentium 3 up to a Core2.

I just restarted it, I will leave it running overnight and see what happens.

I can't say whats going on with registration recently, I've been on Dimes since Feb 2008. I don't get anything for you via user search. And on our team page, Tobit and tr0ach are the only new names since I started.

Did anyone not expect tr0ach to be there? :D

Dunno what is going on with DIMES, Alan. It's been running for 11 hours now and I've got countless nodes on my graph. However, I still have no score.

Nice, look out Alan, here I come. :p

Yep, that is my more common online identity now. The second e is my middle initial. :)
Ok, just checking..It's pretty early in the morning here and it would be easy for me to make a mistake like that so I thought I better check.

I was doin' a little thinking lately  With the heat generated from my 24/7 folders and my two brain cells thinking helps cuts down on my heating bill. I was thinking about some kind of motto for the mighty [H]orde. You know, like "Siemper Fidelis", "Scouts honor" or "How're you doin", something short and to the point.

I realize it has to be in what's called a "two minute sound bite", it's got to be discriptive and in the case of politicians, semi truthful (at least 30% truth with 70% bullhocky) :p

Not bein' an author of two minute sound bites (they pay the political campaign managers big bucks for that ) I've been in kind of a quandry, would one of you smart authors and poets out there please help me out (Like Mr relic to name only one ;)). How do you say something about a bunch of different humans ( race, sexual preferences, backgrounds, nationallities, lifestyles, egos, intelligence, etc) all in one harmonious group, all doing something worthwhile for humanity with expensive high tech equipment, joking and "smacking around" without anyone getting upset, helping each other without the "what are you a dumba$$ for asking that simple question" insinuation d: and getting some "up to the minute", first rate and trurthfull advice about anything to do with computers or DCing .

Some of the creative [H]orde members please chime in :p
