DC Vault

23 more spots to go in the next month to reach the goal of Top 50 by Valentines day.

I think we are on pace. Keep up the good work guys. I have a little more D on the way. :)

its probably going to slow down now that i only have 2 systems running boinc.. had to shut the other ones down.. trying to get the electrical bill down 20% from last month so we can get some money back from PG&E..

Well, I finally got my 750 watt PSU back from newegg, and for the first time since the middle of December, both video cards in my main rig are folding! I've been limping along with a 300 watt unit running a single GPU F@H with no CPU whatsoever... And I now have the dual cores running Boinc, so hopefully that will help offset Sirmonkey's (hopefully temp) setback!

Of course, in a move sure to make Kendrak feel better, I forgot that I was totally out of thermal paste, and since I had to remove the heatsink to get the new PSU in, I had to reinstall the heatsink with no new thermal paste, just the old stuff I could scrape up and smear back on... I had to back my 1.8GHz dual core down from 3.2 to 2.4 until I can pick up a tube tomorrow, but at least it's back up and running! Is that as bad as a hard drive screw? I think so! DC [H]ot & [H]ard! (The cores are between 67 and 70 at full load, so this will only run like this until after work tomorrow)

Now I can actually sleep well for the first time in a month, knowing my full machine is folding/DCing away... :D

I think I am spread about as thin as I can be without loosing usefulness. I don't have a whole lot to offer computer wise. I do still need to borg my girlfriend's laptop, but that wont add a whole lot. Everyone's effort has been great thus far though. Keep it up!

Has anyone figured out how to get an invitation to Malariacontrol.net? It seems by the rules it has to be something pretty easy to get an account for:

Project eligibility is governed by the following guidelines:

The project must:

* be active
* accept new members and teams immediately upon registration
* have parsable team stats
* have team stats that are updated regularly
* provide a client program which runs on a local PC

I would be willing to try to get that started, but I fear one of the best avenues would be posting a question on the DC-Vault forums. It may come down to having it removed from the Vault if it isn't accepting new teams. Does anyone have an account with a few posts at the DC-Vault? I wouldn't want my first bit of posting to be causing that kind of trouble.

I haven't found out yet, but I'll admit that I didn't spend a lot of time or effort looking thus far. My take is that as long as there's still projects that we haven't done that are open, I don't really have time to beg for the right to do anyone's work.

But this does leave anyone the opportunity to step up and be the "malariacontrol guy." :D

For those of you interested in crunching RC5-72, distributed.net currently has CUDA clients in public beta testing. The clients are currently available for Win32 and Linux amd64. Find them on the beta page here.

They also have a 64-bit native Windows client for both RC5-72 and OGR.

I need moar hardware, rawr!

Razor has been running the CUDA client for a little while now with great results. He's got some more info right here.

I should really move my GPU efforts over to a DC-Vault listed project.

Awesome, sorry if it was old news. I just switched to the 64-bit Windows client here for my OGR-26 effort that is running along side my ATI GPU2 FAH client on my E6600. I donut have any NVIDIA cards at the moment, soon though. :D

18 points for our Seventeen or Bust debut. That was a bit anti-climatic.

But we jumped up another spot to #72! And welcome tr0ach again, whoever you are. :D

LOL! 18 points thats funny!

I'm sure next one will be better.

Joined the Distributed.net HardOCP team

Should see a nice 1,341,947 Gnode OGR26 jump and a few RC5-72 blocks added

I also emailed staff about the slashdude being inactive. Will update when I get a reply. I've been with Dnet about 10 years :D

Razor, how is the CUDA client and CPU utilization? Does it use very little like the FAH client? Thinking of purchasing some "D" just for OGR-26 and RC5-72.

RC5-72 it uses about 10% where FAH is more like less than 5%.
GPUGRID uses a lot 40-60% but there working on it.
GPU-Seti is uses about 20-25% depending on the unit that is being crunched.

I don't see any drag on cpu projects when I start up RC5-72 on 2xGTX 260's so I would say you shouldn't have any problems with that.

Wow! What a jump that was for the team.
Thats great, thanks for joining in, and thanks for contacting the admins, you should pull a lot more weight with them than my little pointing self.

Yeah, I just checked myself. On OGR-26, I was expecting to be in the #2 spot right behind Mr. Razor but nope, now I'm in third. :D Thanks man!

I been running around the house screaming Thats Wicked!!!
Thats a ton of points, holy cow!

Great, thanks. Thinking of a Q6600 for OGR-26 with something cheap like a 9800 GT for RC5-72.

Im getting about 245 million keys per second (4,900 Blocks per day) on a 8800GS running about 1600 on the SPs.

Its taking about 20% of one of my 2.4GHz X2 cores. I run a BOINC client on the other core. Works pretty good.

Another GMT day is over and we've moved up 136 spots to 1,505th place with RC5-72 and 1 spot with OGR-26 to 48th place.

So how many keys per second does the GPU client for RC5-72 do?

ill check it out with my 8800GT since im not really running anything on it due to the electricity bill.. i never relized how much an 8800GT w/ 1.1v mod at 760/1900/1025 wh0res electricity..

you guys are using the distributed.net client right? because i cant seem to get it to use my 8800GT.. just uses my 2nd core on my processor.. and also how the hell do i join the team?

cool.. thanks.. guess its waiting time now.. doing some ogr what ever project..

ok changed it to the RC5-72 one.. now how do i get it to use my gpu?

You have to download the BETA CUDA client from

http://www.distributed.net/download/prerelease.php

to use the GPU... and GPU will only crunch RC5-72, not OGR

Note that the current beta expires in a few days, they will update the website with a new beta soon.

btw im averaging about 346 million keys a second 8800GT @ 790/1825/1020.. shaders seem to not make a difference so im trying to see how high i can take my gpu before my system locks up..

thank you.. i found it at the exact same time i had refreshed this page.. but when i saw the 28 days thing i figured it had ended already..

#67

We're still on the rise, and there's still plenty of easy climbing to go. Congrats to all the Commando's (and all the WCGer's who are aiding in our rise as well. :D)

I've had to take a short break from running OGR-26 as I had a FAH WU in progress on the same box that I wanted to finish before the deadline. I will resume OGR-26 once this completes (14h 27m). I really like these two dnetc projects and their respective clients so I'm giving serious thought to building a dedicated dnetc box in a couple weeks.

Up two more places to #65. A little red this morning, but nobody's perfect, right? :D

And AWESOME work on OGR-26 mfl0p!

Yeah, I am SO glad he is now with us as he was the only one who turned in work yesterday on the project. I have since resumed operations on OGR-26 again, sorry for having to take that break.

I also had cpu's full of projects yesterday.
I should be able to turn some OGR-26 in today.

If anyone is running Windows 32bit we could use some help in the SZTAKI Desktop Grid project.
I have one 32 bit OS and SZTAKI hates the PC its running on.
I have only been able to complete some of the little units, but it seems they are not giving those out anymore.
I check everyday but only get the large units which do not seem to run very well on my system.
Thanks everyone.

I had the same thing going on last time I tried running a little SZTAKI on my main rig. Just about every unit would give a computational error or wouldn't progress any. FWIW, the machine in question is an E6400 with a light overclock and 2GB RAM. I'm trying the AMD rig right now.

You guys are really climbing up the DC Vault list. Congrats. I am starting to get nervous up here in the #35 spot. The Pirate Fleet is a small team so I expect you guys to push by us without to much fanfare.

The SZTAKI project has had a wave of bad wu's that's probably the cause of the problems your having.

Don't worry they'll all fall one by one to the [H]orde. But we'll try to make it as painless as possible. :D

I had one unit crap out, but other than that, its been so far so good with SZTAKI on the three boxes I have it running on currently.

Thanks alan, I keep looking at the lower score there and bugs me I can't do anything about it.:D

I been knocking out MilkyWay and Sudoku untill they are closer to 5k in the Vault then I'll focus in on a different projects that we need a bump in.
Been trying to get EulerNet servers to take my time I've put in but sometimes there servers are down and they update there stat page every couple of days instead of daily so I can't tell if I'm making any progress.
