DC Vault

Okay, I'm a bit lost on the ATI thing - I followed the (lousy) readme directions, and am not getting any love. And since I can't read German, the only bonus I've seen so far is being able to run 4XAA on Guild Wars...

I've installed the 9.1 Catalyst drivers, but I keep getting blue screens! Off to try the 8.12 drivers...

EDIT: Okay, the 8.12s seemed to fix the problem! Six WUs in, each ranging from 80-86 sec of runtime - my RAC went from 5 to 50 in about 10 min!

EDIT #2: Anyone know how to get it to DL more than 1 or 2 WUs at a time? Or is that just my current luck of the draw?

Jathanis, mine keeps 6-10 tasks in the queue. Try bumping up the # of days of work to get in the BOINC client. I think mine is set to 1 or 2 instead of the default .25. Since MilkyWay is the only BOINC project I run on that machine, I rolled back to the recommended 6.4.7 version, but I didn't really see any difference from the latest version, other than the CPU time numbers.

I already have it at 2 days, but I also have a full queue of ABC from the 9K run we were doing on that, so that may be the problem - ABC is now set to no new work, so hopefully as my queue clears, it'll fix itself. I'll try to have some patience and check again in the morning...

I have never been able to run Milkyway ATI along with another BOINC project. The ATI app ends up stalling out and waiting for the other project to finish. I had to switch to running just non-Boinc projects with it.

arg.. some one make me stop playing anno 1404.. my eon outputs gone to shit because of that game.. damn games addicting..

jathanis set it to 5 days.. give it a day or so once it figures out the exact amount of time it takes per WU.. it will start downloading more WU's.. usually takes 12-24 hours depending on if you let it run the entire time for it to figure out the exact time per WU..

Yeah Flibble is right. Suspend the ABC project and watch what happens. ;) It doesnt have anything to do with your queue.

Thanks guys - I started to figure that out this morning, after 2 ABC WUs finished, I suddenly started getting 5-6 queued Milkyway units at a time. Now hopefully when I move this on to another BOINC CPU project, it'll hold!

That would be great 2 people working at the same thing really speeds things up. :)

Thats only my short list for finishing up math and misc however.

heres my full list:
ABC - 9001, done for now
NQueens - 9000 even, done for now
Yoyo - 8440
Cosmology - 8258
Spinhenge - 8807
uFluids - 9049, done
Genlife - 8812
Poem - 8461
Okay, I've added the scores as of Thursday, 7/30 @ 7:30 PST. I was thinking that maybe we should push the projects on this list to say 9050 instead of 9K, so it doesn't drop right back under as soon as we stop, starting with NQueens. That said, pick where you want to go next, as 2 of my 3 machines are just wrapping up the ABC run and never even started NQueens, so I have 6 cores wait for direction!

Quick analysis:
Yoyo: now, rank 67, 9K = rank 42, +545K BOINC pernts needed
POEM: now, rank 88, 9K = rank 55, +375K BOINC pernts needed
Cosmology: now, rank 159, 9K = rank 90, +650K BOINC pernts needed
Spinhenge: now, rank 221, 9K = rank 185, +54K BOINC pernts needed
Genlife: now, rank 32, 9K = rank 26, +47K BOINC pernts needed

That said, Cosmology, and Spinhenge look like they have the most dead weight close above us, but I think Yoyo might take a team effort (but we can all get all 4 badges!). Might I suggest Spinhenge next for a couple hundred easy Vault Points, followed by Genlife, then Cosmo?

sounds good to me.. once i get EON passed the team above us ill move over to spinhenge for a couple weeks..

I'm shutting down the farm for the weekend because Im going to be out of town. When I get back on Sunday Im going to stay on ABC for a little while longer to make sure we can keep that one above 9K.

I agree with the push for dead weight first. I just created the list in no specific order.

I will keep pushing at NQueens until 9050 and then start working spinghenge.

ABC: Done
uFluids; Done
NQueens: In Progress
Spinhenge: Next Up
Genlife
Cosmology
POEM
Yoyo

Thats how I will plan to run my machines. And we should definitely try and make a team effort if possible for yoyo. :)

Edit: Jeez Jathanis, Your gonna pass me soon for combined points. That ATI card is putting out alot of points. My i7 cannot keep up!

well the eon server seems to be on crack again today.. so im going to run genlife and poem for the rest of the day.. finally redid my overclock on my 940 so its running at 3.53ghz with the HT and NB at 1800mhz instead of 1600mhz.. stupid motherboard and its beta bios that im forced to use..

For BOINC CPU projects, I'm currently running NQueens, Genlife, Spinhenge, and Poem, plus Sztaki. I'll probably try to hit a couple of the projects where my points are low, like uFluids and ABC, but I'm spread a little thin right now. I'll stop Sztaki once I get to 50K.

SIMAPS back up and running guys.. get the projects while you can..

Project status
Calculation of SIMAP updates is currently running.
The current workunits calculate the similarities and domains of approx. 275.000 new sequences from public databases imported in July 2009.
After these calculations are finished, next workunits are expected around September 1st.

its going to be very very short with only 275k WU's..

Nqueens has passed 9050 for points. I am going to move onto Spinghenge and work on getting it to 9050 as well. :)

We're now a measly 9.5k back from Anantech, we've pulled about 2k points in over a week. Impressive!

I'm now running spinhenge to get that to 9k

Hey Shlomo what computers do you run for Boinc? You can try and keep up with me until we get 9k on spinhenge. :p

I've got all three sig rigs that will be running it by tomorrow morning - think you can catch me? :D

You have a good head start on me. I don't know though my i7 may be able to do it. :p

You may make me take my p4s that are working on Eon to do it.

edit:: Yup P4s are on spinhenge now. :)

Ohhh . . . a challenge. Good stuff there!

// Grabs Guinness and watches closely. :D

Sorry guys mt production has slipped here the last 2-3 days.
I have been fending off network and computer attacks.
They appear to have gotten my IP address from the IRC channel that I run.
This morning I made the decision that DC'ing was first priority and the IRC channel had to go by the wayside in order to protect my IP address.
So my IP address has been changed and I have removed my IRC channel files off my systems so they I may not by habit click on it and login to the channel and give them knowledge of my IP again.

So..I should be back up to full strength now with no more interruptions of confused routers and PC's antivirus and firewall CPU usage destroying my DC'ing output.

to bad you cant blame IRC because IRC does not show your ip address.. all you can see is a vhost that looks like this.. dp-9B7E2C0B.hsd1.ca.comcast.net unless you have a shitty isp that actually shows your ip address which i dont ever remember yours doing.. most likely it was just a random port scanning.. happens more often then you think.. all you need to do is uncheck respond to WAN ping in your router.. or it will say respond to internet ping.. some routers have it worded differently..

edit razorfxii@dp-75DADE1.midco.net <-- that is your vhost on irc.. theres no possible way anyone could get your ip address from that..

seriously.. you really need to learn how IRC works before you actually go and blame it on something it cant cause or do..

Thats funny coming from the guy that I suspect is doing it.

dude seriously.. if you are going to start that crap again ill just quit all of this and leave.. because its no sweat off my back..

because ya know its just so easy for me to call your isp and ask for Razor_FX_II's ip address.. it doesnt work like that.. this is what happens when people dont understand the internet.. they accuse everything except them selves..

Jathanis, I am comming closer! haha. I am behind you in both RAC and Points by one position. Granted I am 12k in points behind. I givin' her all shes got but it might not be enough. I may have to see if I can leave my i7 on tonight. I usually turn it off to sleep but I need the points.

Oh what competition does. :)

Actually, it's a hell of a lot easier to do than that, doesn't require a phone call or email and takes a whole second or two depending on how fast you type and how "complicated" the name is. No, I'm not going to tell anyone how to do it either.

yeah i know.. but the amount of time it takes and even me having to ever put that much effort into doing something like thats not worth my time anymore.. back in high school.. it was a different story..

/last post from me in this thread..

sirmonkey, don't go. Why let 1 person turn you off from folding for the best team? Just ignore things and move on, and keep folding for the cure!!!!
TEAM 33 FTW

Well, I'm going out of town this weekend for 4 days, so my work computer goes off tomorrow @ 4:30, and won't be back on until Tuesday moning - that'll be 2 less cores for you to tackle, even though they're only old Pentium D cores... I'll just be leaving my two Core processors going, so you should make some headway!

Off to think of another computer to Borg before the weekend...

Yeah I am going to be out this weekend as well. Going to Mid-Ohio for he IndyCar and La-Mans Race. Should be awesome. I am going to leave everything up, however if anything shuts down I am screwed. haha.

I actually get better Milkyway numbers when I'm gone, as the computer my ATI card is installed in is downstairs in the family room - after I go to work, wife/daughter log in to their side, which makes the BOINC client shift the WU from GPU to CPU, then error out. So when at work, I lose 2-10 hours/day of progress, but when I'm gone for the weekend, I get kick-ass scores (like the back to back 69K days I did this past weekend). But same as you, I'm assuming no crashes or power outages! :(

Damn it, me and my big mouth! :D So what does that i7 put up without the help from the P4s?!

Might just have to leave the work computer on over the weekend if I can rig it... That or settle for second place! ;) At least I'm still up on Razor... (Damn, there goes my big mouth again)

Nice going guys. Looks like we are still gaining some good Vault points. We will be in the Top 10 before you know it.

I moved my Nvidia GPU back over to GPUGRID. Didnt seem like I was getting much credit on Aqua and it looks like Razor,tr0ach, and Sazan have that project under control! :D

Hey you guys running Milkyway - Anyone running it on a 64 bit OS? Im running Vista 64, 64 bit drivers, 64 bit BOINC and the 64 bit MW GPU app. I've only been running it at nights (its gets pretty hot during the day) and it seems to run fine for a couple nights and then it blue screens the next night.

As of right now the i7 is putting out 330 for RAC and both the p4s are putting out about 40 for RAC. Not that much but every bit counts. I have you beat for RAC for now.

Lets see if I can catch you for total points. :p

Edit: Really I can't even get my entire farm up and running with decent a RAC because we are so close to 9k for the project. I am going to switch soon most likely, that is if I don't plan on beating you in points first haha.
