Jathanis, I just saw that sale price in the latest Newegg email. I think I'll go ahead and order the HIS.

Watch out guys just finished my new i7!

Damn, guess I have to order that 4850 too - I was starting to catch up to you on total BOINC points, and now you'll be off and running... Oh, yeah, congrats as well! :D

Edit: Well, one 4850 on it's way!

Don't worry too much Janthanis. I don't always work on boinc projects. You'll have a small window to pass me... maybe :p

I don't think I'd looked at the BOINC combined point rankings before. I don't know if anybody has enough D to catch the top two.
Hey, I'd only need 4 more 4850s on Milkyway (after I get the one I ordered in), and I could catch Tr0ach in like 10 months...

Realistically, I hope I can get that 50K RAC in Milkyway up and running next week, and aim for the top 10, although I think top 5 is going to be a bit tougher. I just wish some of the Bio Science projects had ATI support like MW!

Aqua has work - there small work units this time (15 minute cuda, 60 minute cpu)

DistrRTgen has been dead to the world for over a week now. Has anyone heard anything?

etothe3ric, nice machine, now overclock it! :D

Yea I was looking at these the other day too. tr0ach and Razor are kicking some ass. Both are about ready to break into the Top 1000 in combined BOINC. Well done guys!

I'm working on a huge Aqua unit. We are talking 150 hours+. Its approaching half done. I hope its worth some serious points. :D

I finally found my first PSP Sieve factor. :D

My ATI card should arrive tomorrow.

Are we on page 100 yet?

Well, congrats to Wheresatom on starting the most epic thread of the past year. :D

interesting way to keep track of the entire team stats for all the projects.. but i dont think i could spare thinning out my small farm of cpu's for multiple projects..
Looking back at the first page, I came across this post, #6 overall I think, and almost sprayed Diet Coke all over my monitors! Epic Thread indeed, Wheresatom!

Great work SazanEyes on PSP Sieve.
My Sieving has not been very productive lately so I'm glad you're having the luck.
Theres still 1 more team we can easily get in front of then the hill gets pretty steep.

That was a great update SazanEyes!

My i7 is still low of RAC because I was at the drag races this weekend.

Richmond Virginia for the Pro Mods and Englishtown New Jersey for Nostalgia Funny Cars.

What a wonderful weekend it was.

I plan to keep trying to get all of the Bonic projects over 9k.
Working on: ABC@Home
Next up: NQueens and Yoyo

lol if it wasnt for this thread i wouldnt have all the computers i have now running dc-vault projects.. nor would my electricity bill be over 300 dollars a month.. :p

its wheresatom's fault i bought a phenom II 940.. i hate you wheresatom!!! :p

/me looks around his room at all the laptops and old computers running.. dang you i hate you even more wheresatom!!!!! :p

Sounds like a plan - I'm wrapping up my first 10K on Leiden, and will start switching my systems to match you over the next few days...

And don't forget POEM, we only have 8450 in there

That would be great 2 people working at the same thing really speeds things up. :)

Thats only my short list for finishing up math and misc however.

heres my full list:
ABC
NQueens
Yoyo
Cosmology
Spinhenge
uFluids
Genlife
Poem

im going back and forth between EON and genlife and poem.. when the EON servers arent sending work then i run genlife and poem..

You guys are putting pressure on me in PrimeGrid. I don't think The Pirate Fleet can stay ahead of you for much longer.

lol we all know you guys will figure out something to make sure you stay ahead of us.. lol just wish we had more people working with us on DC-vault.. we would kick some ass if we had 2-3 more people..

I just wish I had more firepower to throw at it. Maintaining borgs and babysitting the guys who own them is the biggest hassle in the world.

Yeah we probably only have about 10 guys on here that do more that 5 projects. Most stay with F@H or WCG. Its pretty amazing with what few people we have we are 11th on the vault. I would like to tip my hat to all of you.

if newegg wasnt such douches and just sent the damn hardware my cousin ordered to him instead of playing these useless games they are playing we would have 1 more person to kick ass on milkyway since he has 2 4890's but newegg lost his order for his motherboard and processor and refuses to send it without some stupid statement.. ive pretty much lost respect for newegg after having to spend 4 months dealing with this crap..

The 4850 is installed and running MilkyWay. I installed the latest ATI 9.7 drivers for XP (32-bit), grabbed the GPU app here, followed the readme and renamed my DLLs, and it seems to be working. I did get a VPU recovery when I first started up, but it seems to still be crunching. How many Milkyway tasks does it run simultaneously? All 12 of mine seem to be running. I'll have to do some research at the MilkyWay message board.

Okay, since you're a bit over 24 hours ahead of me with the 4850, let me know what kind of overclocking you can get out of that bad boy! :D

OK, I rolled back to the 8.12 drivers as suggested, and it's much more stable running MilkyWay. I also figured out how to control the number of tasks that run at once, and some of the "quirks" with the latest version of BOINC. I'm not pushing too hard now because I need to finish running W@H on this machine.

When I had the 9.7 drivers installed, I saw the Overdrive stuff in the Catalyst control center, but it was grayed out. With 8.12, I just installed the plain drivers. I guess RivaTuner will work with this card?

Yeah when I had anything newer than the 8.12s installed I got constant VPU recoveries. It seemed like it would run ok until I moved the mouse then it when straight to a VPU recovery. I havent had that problem with the 8.12s but I do get a blue screen every once in a while. The last two nights my rig has blue screened while running Milkyway. :(

Rivartuner works fine with ATI cards. If the OverDrive options are greyed out then you might have to check the "Enable ATI Overdrive" checkbox.

I just bumped the core clock to 701 with RivaTuner, and the temps hardly moved. I'm currently running three Milkyway tasks, and GPU % usage dropped from the 70-80s to 50-60s.

edit: Now running at 750 MHz core, and I tried adjusting the wait factor for MilkyWay, but I'm still at about 50% GPU usage. I think I need to add more tasks. I tried 800MHz but it was not happy. Temps are not an issue at all -- my max temp is shader core at about 73 C. The fan is on auto and is relatively quiet, currently at 820RPM. I'm reading old reviews where the card would hit 80-85C at stock speeds with the stock cooler, so I think I'm safe.

edit 2: I changed my cmdline to "n5 w0.7" and I'm averaging around 70% utilization, but it varies. I tried pushing the clock to 775, but it had issues. So far 750 seems stable, with memory untouched at 1000MHz. Shader core temp is about 75 C, and the fan has ramped up a bit, but it still much quieter than the dual 8800GS cards with 100% fans on the other side of the desk.

Once W@H finishes and frees up the CPU, I might add more tasks. I think I've added 5K points to MilkyWay tonight just playing around.

I tried the 9.7 and had hiccups happen so I went back to 9.5 which run very good for me.
The overdrive is grayed out because it is locked- there is a little pad lock looking thing in the overdrive window - click it to unlock it.

I use this command line in my ap_info file: <cmdline>n2 f5</cmdline>
Running more than 2 per card has no effect on my output (if anything it reduces my output). I just make sure there is at least 50%-100% of a CPU core free to feed it.

Looks like I broke MilkyWay@home. Hopefully they have a fresher backup than a couple months ago (when I didn't even have an account).

The project has been running fine for quite some time now. You spend one evening with an ATI card and . . . :D:D

Got another blue screen last night though. I am wondering if the CCC might be crashing. I am going to install Rivatuner and see if not having the CCC open while running MW@Home does the trick.

On a bad note - I just finished a 150 hour Aqua WU and it didnt seem to give me any credit for it. :( Maybe there scoring sytem is just slow. I dont seem to be getting any credit for the new smaller ones Im finishing either.

ABC has now passed 9k. :)

I am gonna run my i7 on Nqueens since its so close and my other duals on yoyo.

OK, MilkyWay is back so I just fired up BOINC again. I'm trying your cmdline options, Razor, and so far they seem to be working well.

thats exactly why i dont run milkyway anymore.. had over 25k points and them boom.. the site crashed and i lost my account and all my points..

Well, it looks like they're doing daily backups now, so I only lost 4 hours worth of points, and a few extra hours when the site was down. It sucks for a server to crash, but they handled it pretty well.

BTW, thanks for the continued help with W@H. We're struggling to stay ahead of the Cows, but so far we're holding them off.

yeah milkyways server seems to crash on a regular basis which pretty much tells me they have no clue what they are doing when it comes to databases.. yup.. my x2 6400+ is still crunching away on W@H..

I crunched an Aqua unit for two weeks on my 8800GS, and got 170 points. I don't even have the energy to check their forum to find out the latest reason their points are screwed up.
