DC Vault

I have the Q9400 online now for Malariacontrol.net work so as soon as the next batch is released we should be making a wide path up the ranks in that project.

I'm gonna work on SOB with 2 clients and see what I can do. I am trying out some of the harder to set up programs other than BOINC

I finally found the (literal) missing link on the GIMPS stats site, which shows the breakdown of our team with actual member names:

http://www.mersenne.org/tmembers/
(you need to log in first for this link to work)

edit: Did anyone crunch GIMPS before late last year? If so, you can transfer your credit from your old v4 account to the new v5 stats. You just need to go to their site and link your accounts.

etothe3ric, good luck with the non-BOINC projects. There's a lot of easy points there, I think, especially in the math area.

I've cleared out the BOINC stuff for now, and I'm focusing on PSP-PRP, GIMPS, and W@H. I've also stopped crunching on my laptop for now, to give it a rest.

Yeah, I am trying to focus on the math area SazanEyes. Right now I wanna see how far I can go with SOB. I tried SOB sieve and i am at a loss for how to set it up. I may do W@H and Gimps if SOB goes well.

I searched the internet to get a more specific guide when I was trying to set it up and found this http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3501. It is very detailed and I tried to follow it step by step but my "reserved space" was not right somehow and multiplied all my numbers by a billion. the program would load up and immediately exit. I'll stick to SOB for now and see if later I wanna try and figure out SOB sieve.

The Vault stats update seemed delayed, so they might have had trouble pulling the points for the various projects. The morning update usually has more action anyway.

just out of curiousity is there anyone running an intel 45nm quad core on SoB i want to compare intels 45nm output with a single core client against my Phenom II 940 @ 3.5ghz single core client output..

oh yeah.. forgot mention.. excluding the i7.. only the c2q 45nm processors.. or even the c2d 45nm..

On my Q9400 3.5ghz I started the service with "sobsvc -p:4:1" as settings for a few minutes and looks to be a spike about a little over 14M cEMs/sec.
It may be a little higher than that since one of those 4 units is dragged out from a few days ago when I started a single thread.

I think on avarage you can expect about 1M cEMs/sec /1ghz /core
so a 3.5ghz core should produce about 3.5M cEMs/sec

Great work on Malariacontrol, Razor_FX_II. We should see another huge jump in the next Vault update. Thanks also to Mr Flibble for letting us use your account.

PRP really tries my patience, because the work takes so long and you can't really watch the progress. I've got 10 processes running across 3 machines with various queue sizes, so there should be some big point dumps eventually. (Maybe something tomorrow?)

At least GIMPS is progressing well, and I see tr0ach has joined in.

For SOB on my E8400 stock it is running at about 3.8 Million cEMs/sec per core. Your average seems pretty close.

i ran 1 client for about 5 minutes and i was seeing 5million+ cems/sec i may run it for a little bit after i stop OGR-27 on sunday..

Does SOB update its stats often? We have only moved up 1 spot and gained like 15 points since I put all my core onto it. I would easily see PrimeGrid move, slowly but it would move. Maybe i just don't have enough D to have an effect :(

SOB updates the team stats once a day. But you can see your personnal stats raise after each upload/client contact.

ill be throwing my PHII 940 on SoB on sunday.. then we will see how far we move up.. if the stats are right.. id be doing something like 20 million cems/s

We're about 2900 points below 15.

woot woot.. 16th place..

im not going anywhere with ogr-27 though.. were pretty much stuck at a stale mate..

Excellent. We've been closing in on 16 for far too long now. 15 should come quicker hopefully. :D

I've just started one box on GIMPS and another will be going as soon as the rest of the BOINC work is done on it. 2,745.098039 Vault points just isn't going to work.

Does anyone have any idea what the deal with Cosmology@Home is? I've got a huge stack of units completed as soon as they'll get around to taking them.

They been having on and off server problems. They will eventually get in and credit.

That's what I figured since a unit does manage to go here and there.

One unit every other day is killing my need for instant gratification. :D

yeah i stopped running cosmology for a while because of the server issues.. i just dont have enough systems to run a crap load of projects..

We should be able to make good steady progress in GIMPS. Adding another 1K vault points shouldn't take much more than a week, maybe?

ok officially stopped ogr-27 at 1:32 AM PST and now running SoB...

though the numbers look a bit odd.. anyone have some idea's why the numbers are so different from eachother?

ugh.. SoB is a friggin overclock killer.. 940 @ 3.5ghz 1.424v stable on every distributing computing program ive used so far.. but sob.. keeps bsoding.. so now im down to 3.4ghz 1.424v see if that fixes it..

sirmonkey1985 what affinity are you running those SOB's at and are you running something on your video card that could be taking up some time on one of the cores?
I usually set my affinity on the service to a "1" so each SOB runs across all 4 cores.
You must be in XP since in Vista I can not get SOB to show the clients when running as a service.
Looks to be like some great output though. Between you and EricE we should start seeing a nice rise in our SOB score in the vault

nothing else is running.. basicly its running like this.. core 0 100% core 1 - 3 98%(bouncing between 94-98%) but core 0 sits at 100% constant.. only time it drops is when the WU finishes.. kinda weird.. not sure why they are doing that.. and yes im using xp.. i refuse to ever use vista.. my affinity is set to -p:4:0:0:0:0

Maybe try -p:4:1 see if it makes a differance and maybe could make the system more stable?

ok switched to 4:1:1:1:1 and client 1 is still insanely higher then the others.. but now all the cores are at 100% though it cycles 98% usage on each core one at a time.. starts at core 0 98% all the rest at 100% and so on and so on..

i have a feeling that its just because of how inefficient the SoB client is.. but damnit i wish all 4 cores would do 6.5 million cems/s

Nice! I'll have to try the 5:1 config when I get a chance when theres a break between Malariacontrol.net work batches.

im making about 1.5-2 million cems/s more a second running 5 clients.. the way it spreads out it doesnt look like it is but did the math on it so its helping a tad..
