Yes just curious none the less , i ordered a MSI 570 GTX and I opened it and my brother was looking and noticed it was clearly used .. It had a gash on the top logo side and scratches on it.. has this happened to anyone before?? Just curious if newegg.com is sending out refurbished card's as new? Cause that is some B.S IMO.

As iconiK pointed out was that open box that you actually bought? I have seen instances in the past where Newegg has sent out open box stuff to people before by mistake. That was really rare though.

Let newegg make it right and return it.....

LOL Darkangelamd i am i just was wondering if this happend's alot or this is just a surprise mistake!!

Thanks for the input guy's/girls

Someone returned that card as defective, and they obviously sent it out again. RMA it, if you have to downclock it to make it work right it is going to break eventually.

When the package arrived was it in the full retail box?
Did the retail box have a UPC on the outside?
Does the UPC on the card match the box?

Was the card sealed inside the anti-static bag?

I cant accept that an open box re-do would arrive in a retail box, but I guess it could happen.
Unfortunately MSI never sends out their product with a security seal on the outside of the retail packaging or the inner box for that matter, so you'll never know.

Take pictures.
Contact newegg, they'll make it right.
but, no I've never had that happen in over 10 years ordering stuff there.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered an open box 6950 from newegg and got a gtx 460 in return. Just contact newegg via chat and they'll handle everything, even send you a prepaid label.

No brand new i payed 284$ for it! So agian anyone ever have this kinda issue with newegg sending openbox/Refurbished item's as new?

pretty sure you brought either a recertifty or open box card. cheapest 570 on newegg is 320 before MIR

so before this gets any further please link us to the card that you purchased. Also if there was a 570 for just 284 it would've been most likely in the hot deals section as that is a great price.

here is some of what the thing on slickdeals.com said

Newegg Business is running a promotion where orders over $250 can get $50 off using the code Ent50. Ent50 ends 7/20
Promo code :FBFAN50 expires 7/29/11

But its over now.

nope gotendbz1 i bought a new one slickdeals.com had a coupon code for 50$ off so yeah..
here is the link , no where does it say open box or refurbished.
http://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127552

Look at slickdeals.com and the 50$ coupon code is done.

And yes it was a great price for a "New" card but turns out i got the rare edition of being used!

yep if that the case take some picture and speak with newegg. they will most likely replace the card for you.

Thanks Gotendbz1 i am but today their phone service is closed so gotta wait till tomorrow to talk to them/ship it..

Never happened to me, but I suppose the manufacturer could have refurbished it and then sell to newegg again. Not supposed to happen unless it clearly states refurbished.

It's not unheard of. I saw a post where someone suspected their SSD had been used, there were some slight scratches on the drive. They ran some recovery software and sure enough there were files from a previous OS install. I don't think it's their general policy, but I'm sure a company that large products do sometimes slip into new inventory that shouldn't.

It has happened to me on a couple occasions. Both with motherboards.

It ticks me off, but if it works i don't get to worried about it. Newegg has always treated me right. Although i'm not an average customer either :)

I have heard in the past where things like this happen and the company usually handles it with shipping the correct new item.Just give them a call and I'm sure they will take care of it.

It has happened to me twice from Newegg, once with a mobo and once with a graphics card, they told me it must have already been like that before they recieved it. I do sorta believe them.

Either way, they made it right, on both occasions, no problems.

I've never worn a Newegg costume or been to a Newegg costumer convention. What is it like? A bunch of people cosplaying as giant eggs?

Welcome to my world. This has happened to me probably five times. Always (and only) when buying video cards from newegg.

That's a shame, I've never had a problem with Newegg. Always my go-to website.

Even their open boxed products I usually have no problem with. Call them! Complain for a new one and refuse to pay any extra shipping costs, restock fees, etc. They should take care of you.

I have ordered tons of stuff from NewEgg over the years, maybe $15,000-$20,000 worth for builds I have done for myself and others. I got one card that was DOA, a GTX 260 once upon a time that appeared to have been used previously. The eVGA packaging had no shrink wrap and the card had light scuffs/scratches on it. NewEgg promptly took care of the issue. With as big as they are and the volume I can see how accidents may happen. As long as it is rare and they make things right, I can deal with a mistake once in a while.

That was me over on SD :D

If you use the right tone of voice on the phone they will make it right PLUS give you a Newegg T-Shirt.

I've ordered plenty of parts from NewEgg over the last decade and never got anything that was used previously. Most likely just a slip up. They do have pretty exceptional customer service, so I am sure they will make it right for you.

I've received items from Newegg before that were damaged. Simply asking their CS through chat will have them ship you a free return label to ship it back.

Well Costumer service was awesome and good , they are replacing it with a new card and also sending me a free shit.. Free shipping is a given though when hiccups like this happen imo.

A free shit, huh?:eek::eek:
I would ask for toilet paper instead of free shipping!!!! j/k

Anyway, just curious, did your GPU come in the retail box when you received it?

Glad newegg took care of you......they usually do and are very quick to remedy problems.:D

it came in retail box and serials matched video card but it was just a openbox they gave me instead of new. LOL @ the toilet paper , guess someone has the run's

Sounds like an honest mistake, but I can only assume that an "open box" item should not come in retail packaging, or at least be marked accordingly to indicate it has been refurbished........?

Please Google "correct apostrophe usage" ... grammar nazi out. :p

More on topic though, I've gotten a few things from the Egg that had visible issues as well but I can't really fault them for it. I would estimate 90% of the returns they get for defective items are actually not defective at all. They test them out and if they pass all tests they likely re-sell them. I agree, it should be labelled as open box at that point. Could have been an accident, could have been that they don't have any leeway in their pricing margins to make a profit on the item at that junction and can't send a fully functioning card back to the manufacturer, I honestly don't know. All I really know is that I've purchased thousands of items from Newegg over the last 10-ish years and they pretty much rock the house in every aspect. Something bad happens every 2 years maybe, I'd rather cut them some slack and continue on.

I have never had an issue with Newegg at all. They resolved my issues fast.
