Crysis Official Discussion.

I'm on the very last boss of the game. And I'm having a difficult time. Since those little buggers keep respawning on me, I have no chance other than running the entire time. You have but a split second to line up your shot. I must of taken 8 Missile Lanuchers used all the ammo from them and the hatch STILL will not open to me to nuke. I think I'm hitting the correct place. It's the shiny blue area. I might have a bugged loading like from before but who knows... *sigh*

Does anyone know how to use the damn Tac gun? I'm on the aircraft shooting a bunch of aliens, and I can't use the damn gun. All I see on the bottom right is the symbol for infinite. I'm battling that really huge guy.

Okay I'm stuck big time. The level where you have to save the hostage inside the school. Well I did that, Psycho stays with the girl while I go crush a couple tanks. I blow up both tanks, and return to the school and...Nothing. The hostage and Psycho are just standing there, doing nothing. I completed all objectives for the level also. Nothing shows on my map, no waypoints, nothing.

So I go rummaging through half the map killing more N.Koreans than I even care to think about. Go back to the school and Psycho and the hostage are gone. But still nothing for me to do...

Buddy of mine had the exact same problem at the schoolhouse, it appears the AI breaks there sometimes, you have to either bum a savegame off someone, or restart the entire level to get the objective to kick in right

You dont go back to the school, prophet contacts you and tells you to head to the next area. I did read a bug that after killing the tanks this dont happen the fix was to just reload an earlier save and kill the tanks again.

Reloading a checkpoint doesn't work. If you run into this bug, you have to do the entire level again.

Figure I'd post my 2 cents... After playing through Crysis I'll admit I'm going to be waiting for Crysis 2! Hehe... cliff-hanger.

Anyway, I did enjoy the game, but I was not without issues... I did experience multiple crashes and lockups (of the game) and not to mention an odd initial interface issue (because of my resolution).

**SPOILER**

And because of my resolution 1680x1050 I began playing the game with "Optimized" settings which all were MEDIUM. For the first half of the game with was [rather] smooth and [quite] playable, but after being ejected from the alien mountain cavern thingy I was in the "sphere" where it was snowy and blizzardy. This brought my system to it's knees... so I had to go hit LOW for the settings for it be playable again. Grr! Stupid particles. Though it still looked good, and I'm hoping my new Q6700 CPU will remedy this issue for future playing!

Current Specs:
E6300 - 1.86/2/1066 (Technically doesn't meet 'minimum' spec;))
4096 MB DDR533 [4x 1 GB] (3.25 addressable)
evga e-GeForce 8800 GTS 320
Vista 32

Soon to be Specs:
Q6700 - 2.66/8/1066
4096 MB DDR800 [2x 2GB]
Same GFX and Vista.
Will update when new parts arrive!

How do you think Crysis will run with the system I have listed in my sig?
Deffinetely get more ram. I also run it on a 2.4ghz processor, all settings on low except physics, post-processing, and sound to medium at 1280x768 res. It's playable with FPS above 30. It does look very good for low settings. It also makes me envy those with newer PC's though. The only stutter I have is when all kinds of crazy shit is going on around me like tank battles or multiple explosions. It's from my processor trying to calcualte all the complex physics at once along with everything else.

Its gonna be rough.. you processor barely meets the minimum requirement and you are going to need more RAM IMHO. Also, with your video card, don't expect much over medium settings. In some cases, depending on your resolution, you might even dip into low settings to get everything running smoothly. Based on your signature, I would definately ensure that you don't have any unnecessary programs running in the background (also check your MSCONFIG). You might be unnecessarily loading programs like Adobe, certain logitech software (webcam stuff.. ugh), quicktime, real player, yahoo (or any modern messenger service), etc.. Those programs just suck up resources that could be used elsewhere... :(

This advice helps too. I close everything but my nostromo and razor software.

I just finished Crysis on Delta mode.

It was a BLAST !!!!!

I loved it.

It was more fun than a night with Jessica Alba (never really been with her but you know what I mean)

You dont use the tac gun until your told to.

So what do you do when she tells you to use it and the damn thing will not lock? I swear if I hear use the tac cannon one more time I am ripping my speakers out.

Please say you are kidding. Redo the whole level. Man I must have killed a couple hundred N.K.'s in that level...

Why release a bugged game?

Happened to me too what ended up working was restarting crysis and reloading from before the big thing came out of the water.

Nice upgrade, I see a 5 avg fps improvement happy gaming.

Alright guys I hate to ask but I'm tired of swimming back and forth in zero-g trying to figure out how to get out of the ship. I'm where you have to time going through the shields and at the end the 2 orange helix's (or is it helixi? :p) come together. I have tried going through one of the piston type things that launches something and died after multiple attempts. I think I have tried everything. I can't find any guides yet so I'm asking for hints or a spoiler. I just want to continue.
On another note, I should have grabbed the assault rifle and sub-machine guns rather than the mini-gun and precision rifle cause I'm out of ammo on both. Just got my trusy pistol and tons of ammo.

Thanks.

Thought I'd stick this here:

Playing Crysis with the screen resolution set at 1920x1200 with all effects switched up to very high and anti-aliasing turned on, the game is breathtaking to look at and puts consoles titles like Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 into the shade.

from http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7096891.stm

If only it was even slightly playable at those settings. Good old BBC technology section, it's like a special child that you just want to pat on the head sometimes (the rest of the time it's usually sucking off Sony and should be put down).

It is rather disheartening to see that even on the best PCs out there Crysis will struggle to reach 30fps on resolutions above 1600x1200.
Every game, including COD4, I have in my collection I can play at 1920x1200 with 4xAA, 8XAF with max detail and get a lovely smooth framerate on Vista.
But I can only get around 20-24fps on HIGH and that's with AA off.
Yet the two of the cores show about 50% and the other two cores only show 15% use. Not good.
The game feels rushed to me. I just hope future patches will improve the performance on high end PCs, otherwise I feel like I spent all that money upgrading my PC for nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game but I just wished I was able to play with all the eye candy on at high res and still have a nice smooth framerate.
Oh well :D

double your ram;)

The last cutscene with the wirlpool was way hard on my system - i was getting 5 fps I think.

It must be all that water it had to render or something.

Happened to me too what ended up working was restarting crysis and reloading from before the big thing came out of the water.

That finally worked for me as well. Restarted and loaded from the exoskeleton.

I'm playing through the game again, and I wanted to know if anyone have any suggestion on how I can use the Tac Cannon outside of the last level?

Please say you are kidding. Redo the whole level. Man I must have killed a couple hundred N.K.'s in that level...

Because if they had delayed it, you AND I would be pissed. I'd rather have a small once-an-hour bug than be waiting a few more months.

Just beat the game and man was it a blast

i played all on high (textures on med) with relatively slow but still very playable performance

only major FPS drop was when I was driving away from that giant alien thing (the 2nd last boss) on the island

game was real fun

one bug though

On the level with Strickland and defending their base before moving out in the cars. Some of the aliens were spawn but were super far away and would never come fight us, but I couldnt leave the area without failing the mission, so I had to restart the level, no big deal though.

Agreed.

Anyway, what game hasn't had bugs in it when first released? None that I can think of.

Well, maybe. but I'm stuck in the big first village. I've blown up the tanks after finding and freeing the hot asian CIA agent. Now I'm SUPPOSED to get a message getting the next waypoint, but nothing is happening. I don't know where to go. I only know that much because I thought "what the hell is going on?" and read a walkthrough. Pretty serious bug if you ask me.

I agree I am done with this game. I played COD4 for 6 straight hours and beat it, was hopeing I could do the same for Crysis. I had a bug on the hold the shore and kill coppers after you blew up the ship the choppers would disappear in 5mins if you didnt blow them up and the level would never end. Once i realized that I moved on figuring that would be the only issue, I get to the LZ chopper wants to land before the excavation site I have killed everything and everyone even most of the people in the pits and i still cant get past because the scripting is bugged. Let alone 64-bit mode doesnt work.

I am glad I got this for 30.00 @ CC because in my mind COD4 was the better game, more stable, no script bugs, didnt jar me away from the action. Let alone needing a whole clip to kill someone in crysis I spend more time picking up ammo then I do killing people. I am not impressed with the game nor was I impressed with the MP when I played it in the beta. I am very disappointed in the game, since I want to finish it and its wasting my time because of bugs that testing should have ironed out before launch.

Solitaire, Shits been shipping with windows forever never heard of a single bug:D

OT - Solitaire for the iPod has a bug.

For those that have finished, how long is the game, and how fast did you go through it? I'm usually really slow and sneak everywhere so my mileage will vary. Just wanted a general idea.

Pretty serious bug if you ask me.
Had the same issue.

Seemingly, Crysis has at least two possible script-related, game-stopping bugs that I'm aware of. Hopefully these will be addressed in the patch.

any way to take out choppers? they harrass me to no end. Im at the point where after the dome freeze and its night.i cant make it to the LZ. You take the hummer, the hind rockets you. You take the boat, the hind rockets you....

You can take it out with the RL (two hits, I believe) or the underslung grenade launcher on the AR, which takes four hits.

Yeah, the choppers are maddening. If you can't find a RL, and if you're out of AR grenades, you're pretty much screwed. You can cloak for a while, but they'll end up hovering right around your position and then randomly fire off rockets right at you. They have no trouble seeing you through any amount of water, either. The best tactic is to find solid cover, cloak to line up your shot, then switch to armor briefly before firing so you'll have energy to re-cloak. Make sure you get out of its line of sight, though, as it'll be aware of your new position after it sights you regardless of whether or not you're cloaked

so it says i can play @ 1920x1200 very high everything.. AA off... and it seems to play smooth enough.. until you get into a firefight.. its kinda hard to headshot anyway apparently i was cloaked about 10 yards away dead lined up shot (was in cloak) and apparently a bullet doesnt kill someone when it goes through their eye...

honestly strength and grab/throwing has been killing faster than shooting :p

multiplayer i dropped my settings way way way way down.. its impossible to play with any jitter... hell it takes long enough to spawn and go find some enemies... ( GET RID OF HAVING TO CLICK TO SPAWN) nuff said.... ohh ya 100P starting is annoying as well.. the game capture moves so fast.. you can win before you can even buy any good weapons... sniping is really useless.. so not cool... buy machine gun cloak in armor up spray on their spawn = win game

So... which game were you playing?

I've never seen a box I've had to click to spawn, and I've been playing power struggle religiously since the release. If you're talking about the spawn points, how is that ANY different from the battlefield series? Tell me how you can win so fast, that's really interesting because I haven't seen it, and unless you know the exact trajectory for TAC drop-shots on enemy HQ's, I simply do not see how winning before you get "good" weapons is even possible. At the least, it takes about 10 minutes into a game before such weapons are even available. Are you telling me you can't get a "good" weapon in under 10 minutes? L2P, srsly. Lastly, sniping is far from useless. Both the gauss rifle and the precision rifle do very well if you have point-and-click skills. I have no qualms with this, and am so far amazed at the hit boxes. (One time all I could see was a bit of a players arm and he was just standing there, took the shot and he went down). Well, if the most you can offer in the way of a tactical assault is to spray one of my bunkers with a machine gun, then I really don't have too much to worry about. :p

Anyway, performance wise, I run 1680x1050 with everything on High, DX9 and XP. I get a stunning performance on my system, though there are occasional bugs and glitches which can hinder things.

If you're having performance issues, try turning off DX10, putting settings on high (instead of very high) and if that still doesn't work, try uninstalling Vista. :p

I haven't bought the game yet. I thought it ran like poop on high? Very high =dx10, right?

Possibly, honestly I just hit optimal settings and it selected high for everything. I can't complain, it looks stunning and runs great!

I figured out how to get past that spot. Just go up that trail, kill a few N.K.'s and keep going until you come to a cave next to a waterfall. Enter cave and Tadda, next level...

I just use the sniper rifle. 2 or 3 rounds into the fuel cells on each "wing" and another couple into the rear rotor blades and the thing will come down.

Don't mean to thread jack but can someone capture one of the mines in the game going off with sound? I know it sounds like a crazy request but I need it to test the sounds in my game and I think the one that I am hearing is way off.

Thanks in advance! :D

how do u get out the alien cave? im at the part where he goes, those field things seem to be on timers(after mini gun pickup). I wait and go past but there isnt another tube to go through. just that giant orange tube.

I played through the first time on Delta, slow-going and stealthy most of the time. What a game, the last few battles are so intense.

Played through the second time on Easymode for fun, and realized you could grab just about any enemies in your hand and slap them around, not just the koreans. Killed a ton of the aliens barehanded, something amusing about slapping the crap out of them. :)

For the choppers I've typically used a vehicle of some kind. It takes a few moments to do it, but it allows you to save the rockets for times where you almost have to have them. Just keep firing the typical M60 machine-gun from the Hummers or APCs and it'll bring down the helicopters in 20-30 seconds. They like to move into the spots where you can't aim high enough, but if you stay moving you'll be okay.

If I don't have a vehicle, there are a few sniper targets. There are the fuel tanks or even the cockpit. I once shot through the cockpit with the sniper rifle and it immediately went down...almost like Rambo 2. I haven't been able to duplicate it, but it's possible.

Are there any cheats for this game yet? I'd like to replay it with god mode, or unlimited ammo/suite energy or something.
