It's exactly what I would call a Valve game. Valve are amazing sponsors/backers of good games by good studios (Portal, Portal 2, L4D, L4D2, et al), but I have yet to come across a source-engined game that doesn't suffer some glaring issues. It's however many years on and TF2 still sucks dick if you do anything on your computer after trying to launch it, and takes a good 30s to tab back in on 8GB of RAM. And unfortunately half the time I tab out of GO it crashes, no differently from the rest.
Doesn't Valve have complete and utter control of the reigns now? Pretty sure I saw an HPE employee post on twitter or the mailing list or something the other day saying they're not working on it any more and that it's all Valve.
Except that Hidden Path is the developer of this game and is the reason for its falling short on every level.
Funny how people will attribute shortcomings to any other developer involved but any good points about a game released by Valve are all attributable to Valve. Why are people like this.
I really wish there were more maps for Arms Race. I love the game mode (just like gun game in CS:S) but only having 4 or 5 maps is a bummer.
Do any of you guys use the new crosshair?
Playing the game through the Free weekend. Not liking it. Seems like the pace is a bit quicker than Source (have not played in 4 or more years so I might be wrong). Weapons seem to kill a bit more easily. Not liking the new HUD features (player outlines, avatars, ect.) I also don't like the menu and the buy menu. Overall the game seems a bit stale and dull. Though being a remake of a 1999 game I guess that is to be expected.
Interesting how some maps (Inferno) look almost the same as Source graphics wise where as some maps are a night and day difference (Dust).
Though for the price it isn't bad.
Pistols are all buffed from their old equivalents. A couple other pistols that aren't the deagle can now 1 shot you through a helmet at very close range. A lot of other weapons are different (for the better) as well too.
Pace really doesn't seem very different, though people are hilariously rush happy in pubs so that's probably what you're seeing. It's funny because if your team plays cautious and intelligently, it'll be like slamming into a wall for them as they charge into certain, coordinated death every round. Menu doesn't really matter to me because I have the whole thing memorized at this point and it only takes me a couple seconds to buy out.
I have been playing source lately after a 2 year haitus. I have to say as bad as that game is messed up it feels precise compared to GO. GO feels bulky and sloppy.
Anyone else get palpitations and feelings of mild euphoria when you finally get your hands on an AWP?

I try to avoid using the AWP. I get bored a lot when playing with it. I will say I enjoy playing corners with the nova a lot.
This guy gets raped by my awp.![]()

The update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted
Valve issued yesterday a new patch for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) repacking content to reduce CS:GO disk usage from 6GB to 4.8GB. The patch also implements separate sound for distant grenade explosions to make the distance easier to gauge. Sound crossfades near and distance sound between 800 and 2800 units.
BUMP.
These pro videos are so rad

Half the time the guy was shooting at the feet. Looks sloppy. Is that what passes for professional these days?
The shooting looks a bit off (like there's no kick) because it's recorded from a demo, but yes, recoil will send your shots off your crosshair in CS, which is why he's pulling down against it to compensate...
not sure what is so surprising.
