Few questions and comments for the general population and for Redbeard since he is a customer service master:
1. In General: Regardless of the fan issues, my temps in this case are incredible. As I mentioned, I have the top exhaust fan completely disconnected, the front intake connected to the mobo, and the rear 80mm or 120mm (can't remember what it is) doing its thing. Haven't tested load temps yet because I've been too busy playing with hardware, but for those wondering about cooling ability:
CPU: Currently at idle on an i7-860 at 3.5ghz (with speedstep on) with 4 cores at 25-30-32-34. Numerous degrees cooler on every core moving from my horribly cramped Antec P180. Did I mention it has more than enough room for a Thermalright Silver Arrow? Yeah, it does. Killer.
Video card: Gigabyte GTX460 SOC Edition is hovering around 27-30C with basic 2D usage.
Hard drives: I have 2 WD Caviar Black 1TBs, one which is the new 6gbps version, a 2TB Caviar Green, and an old Seagate 750GB. Everything is around 29-30C. Might move the bays cages around and see if that has any change on temps or air turbulence since they are right next to the intake.
As noted, this is with the top fan completely inactive, and the front fan set to whatever the mobo is doing. I'm curious as to how the stock Corsair fans will work once I get the fix since I had the buzzing issue. The fan controller worked, but on medium and low the buzzing and rattle was truly unbearable. If you set it to high, the sound was much more "clean," but the airflow was CRAZY. I'm more than willing to sacrifice a couple degrees in the name of silence, but I will wait to change fans until after I get the final fix from Corsair. Props to them for being proactive about it.
2. For Redbeard: What is the recommendation for the USB 3 cables if I don't have extra ports to plug them into? I have two USB 3.0 ports on my backplate but I'm already using those. Are there internal add in cards that I can plug it into directly inside the case? Right now they're just curled up in the space for other optical drives. Great feature, assuming you have the spare ports on the back, but having an internal USB 3 connector would have been nice, although I know it's not quite the industry standard. You guys are ahead of the game, so I can't fault you for that at all.
3. Any recommendations for how to best manage the cables on the non window side? I've never used a case with cable routing like this, and the interior looks flawless and I might actually buy a cathode for the first time in a decade since it's so sexy, but the wires on the back are so bundled that the side panel is actually bulging somewhat. The HDD connectors are meant to be facing the back, correct? Not 100% sure what is causing the bulging issues (that sounds weird) but I guess I can try to tape things down. Hopefully I don't have to buy "slimmer" cables or whatnot.
I think that's all for now. Installation was a breeze, aside from the optical drive bay covers being a bit stubborn and I was afraid I was going to break something, and the mentioned cable bulging. Absolutely in love with this case, and I actually look forward to tweaking things and working with it for quite a while. It is going to be a long time until a new case comes along that really challenges this one.
