in the folder you installed the program to...
ctc_contest.dat

I opened it in notepad, there was one line of text containing my email address. I would guess that it's the file. :)
Hmmm... i couldn't find the file anywhere on my machine. I'll try re-installing and see what happens. I wanna do this, because we've got to win!

problem is that lab production is going down, because people are coming in and using computers and closing the programs

plus they have to be restarted every hour, due to policy implemented by cornell, so i can't leave them on all night anyway. :(

I'm going to have to come back tomorrow and see if i can get some more started again before class. I'm down to getting the whole lab (33 computers) borged in about 10 minutes though (installing and starting on each one)

One word. COFFEE.
Heh, I don't have to overtake tonight, I'll just come back over the weekend. I have a big test Tuesday anyway, so I need to study quite a bit. Plus if everyone keeps running it and more people join, eventually this lab won't even be needed :D

Ideally we want to kill this contest early so we can get all machines back to F@H

We will probably have to stick it out a while- that other person could do more borging. The impact on fah has been minimal for me. I am running both righ now.

The F@H hit for me is minimal since I would have to drive to each borg to change it....but for others I don't know it could be more.

Meh. It looks like it's not installing properly on these machines: if i install it to a directory c:/whatever/... and i go back to My Computer, the folder isn't there. I guess i just don't have enough permissions? Lol, anyone want to .zip a working directory and email it to me? I'm dathak512 and i use Gmail. If you've got time, i think it's worth a shot!

Thanks. You rock.

give it a few minutes, almost out of my box. my mail server is a touch slow coughing these out (bigger files)

Yeah I'm not to worried about this program taking cycles away after what I found out today. I ran for 6 days without SSE boost! This program is so minimal compared to that tragedy.

Yea that SSE boost is a killer on F@H, need to do (me to) those reg edits/use flags to force SSE boost.

Man, in like 5 hours almost 100 posts for this silly little program. Bet ya never though you get this kind of reaction.

Ok, 50% of the prize to the farm, deal? I just gotta keep trying.

And were missing some big names here, their gonna laugh at a thread here breaking 100 posts by morning

Taking cycles away from F@H, yea not much but I am sure it does and would add up over the day/weeks. We got out butts kicked in the race to 100,000,000, so nothing left to do but bOrg onward and take the #1 sooner or later in F@H.

Jumping in with my 3200+ (equiv)
good luck

I expect to see you kicking some but as of tomorrow morning

Don't worry, I will hopefully add about 20 ghz this weekend to make up for it.

I'll throw in my XP 2500+ @2.4GHz overnight until I have to leave on a flight tomorrow. What an odd looking program.

ctc.zip is the file w/ embedded paths from my box

Got it from marty9876 first... so you lose! (But actually not, cause it works now;).) Thanks guys.

Moar Powa!

Well the program doesn't work on my old 120mhz 24mb ram comp. The program spits out errors like "Residue 73C has 1 instead of expected 5 sidechains." I guess my little laptop is a bit to wimpy. It'll run them and do the calculations. Finished the first one in 124 seconds. The timer is counting up on the bottom left, but I don't want to run them if it's calculating stuff wrong. I'll just have to stick to my P4s and AMDs.

-MN Scout

That's too bad MN Scout.

I wish that there was some way to download a few hundred of these little frames or whatever you want to call them (comparisons?) at a time, chew through them in a few minutes, and the upload the results... i would think it woul decrease the time for processing these things by a signifigant factor. Maybe you could even get all of the nessecary files on CD? Heh.... much less lag-time there. :)

dont normally fold, but i threw this on my main rig, another 2ghz anyway

but every 2 minutes or so the #1 guy is getting 250 jobs done while we are only doing about 100. Dont think you will be cactching him tonight.

Anybody getting communication errors? I was fine for about three hours and then all I get now is communication errors when the program tries to download new proteins.

Yeah. Mine all froze over night and are not starting back up properly. Probably a server problem on their end.

Yeah. Just checked. Their SQL server puked. I like to think we had some hand in that.

He he :D we crashed there servers. I bet they weren't expecting this many people to participate.

-MN Scout

Yea i had to reboot mine as well when i woke up.
some serious b0rg warfare going on ;)

Hah, okay, so now we just have to do this whenever number one is out-producing us! Actually that's a pretty crappy move, but that's exactly what happend last night i think, cause it sounded like he was out producing us by about 200 jobs every two minutse, so 6 000 jobs every hour. But since the servers went belly up, i think we saved our butts a little back there...:D

The servers seem like they are still down, so nobody is really moving at all. Science is losing here. F@H is atleast getting all my cycles.

From web site:

POSTED 2/18/05 10:00 AM
The Contest is temporarily unavailable due to hardware maintenance.

Come on people, maintenance my ass. Maintenance after two days, yea right....

Hurry hurry, I'm at the shop with 20 boxen ready to go!!!!

So back to that splitting up the prize.... :D

Well isn't this interesting. I wake up this morning and find you guys broke the server. Nice.
