Core i7 exprience

I am expecting a flurry of FedEx/UPS activity at my house today....
here's my build...

Core i7 920 --> from Platinum Micro
Asus P6T --> from ProVantage
Sapphire 4870X2 ---> Newegg
Mozart Tx Case ----> Newegg
Corsair Hx1000w ---> Newegg
150GB Velociraptor ---> Newegg

Still waiting on my OCZ(888-24) 6GB 1600 Kit....

But whats bugging me the most is that the new TRUE 1366 and the NH-U12P SE1366 are no where to be found....

Well...NH-U12P SE1366 is listed on
http://www.quietpcusa.com/Noctua-NH-U12P-SE1366-Ultra-Quiet-CPU-Cooler-P506C0.aspx ......but it will not ship until next friday :(

...Finally, looks like I will be able to start putting everything together. My case and power supply arrived from FrozenCPU yesterday. I must say, Lian Li makes the absolute nicest cases I have ever seen.

Big YEAH to the Lian-Li cases. I used to buy a new case almost every build never finding a case I really liked. So I finally put the money up for the Lian-Li PC-A70B and was so impressed with what I got. Chances are I won't be looking at any other cases unless they change motherboard formats to something other than ATX.

Good information here, but what is puzzling is how can these companies sell these processors early and not get in trouble? Obviously Intel shipped these out this week and most retailers have their stock, I know Newegg has alot they are just not listing them.

Picture....Can't wait to replace those paper markers with the real things...

Build Build Build!!!
Not much use sans ram. Same reason Im not building yet. I can afford a CPU, or mobo, or the ram without selling the XPS. But not all 3. :( The rest is sitting here ready for use though. I almost want to pull the server out of the closet and stuff in the new GPU while OCing the CPU to 3.0 or so. But its just not gonna happen.

EDIT2: NVM...

EDIT: Oh and does that XM thing on the sidebar let you listen to XM?

Sorry for posting the background pic again but where did you get the wallpaper?

Did you miss the link to interfacelift he posted?

What launcher is in the side bar?

AthlonXp: Can you run a test for me. If you could put your settings back to stock and use the program Handbrake to encode a DVD to iPod format at low resolution and tell me how long it takes please?

Thx

AthlonXP thanks for posting all your goodies up for us to gawk over. If you're worried about heat and upping the voltage, I know on Kyle's overclock he upped it all the way to 3.5Ghz on stock voltage. Its in his power consumption video.

I also plan on getting a i7 260 and plan overclocking to 3-3.2 because of the heat issue and wanting to keep on stock voltages.

i7 260? I think you mean i7 920 @ 2.66Ghz. ;)

my i7 is now ordered, now for board and memory...

Ok could I get a list of tests that I will run on Monday night. Today I am at work for a few hours and then heading off to the Redskins vs. Cowboys game.

will do, I am also going to setup a non hyperthreading test to see on temps. Also my thermalright adapter will finally be in on Tuesday so I will have results of that as well.

I am gonna wait til the end of the month to buy all my stuff. By then everything will be fully out and lots of people will have tested things out. I want to make sure I buy the most stable (and overclockable) configuration.

Come one Athlon, pics or it didn't happen. Us n3rds need to see some computer pr0n!

Same here, but man I am fighting the urge to buy now!

you guys are really tempting me to throw down some cash on an i7-920, x58 (probably evga) and some ddr3. I doubt i'll be replacing my 3x8800gtx setup in the immediate future. I'm hoping the i7 will give them a bit more room to breathe.

you got some pics of prebuild, I will take pictures of where it is now (using the stock heatsink), Tomorrow night I will have pics and temps up when my thermalright bracket comes in the mail.

Can you run a Crysis Bench when you get the chance? Let me know what kind of fps improvement you get, thanks.

Sure, I just installed it the other day. I can tell you by playing Crysis Warhead, UT3, COD4, and WOW that I have noticed an increase in overall system performance is better and thats with a 30 inch LCD.
