I know I don't really need to upgrade, but I'm considering it anyways. I have a DS3 and a 6400 I'm thinking about getting a 680i and another GTS, and eventually a 6600. My 6400 is running at 3.2 right now, and I can't get it any higher. This DS3, I'm stuck using the F7 bios because if I overclock I get very poor performance, not to mention my NB heastsink is around 60c. Also, does anyone know if the Scythe Infinity will fit on the EVGA 680i? I know that alot of ppl have been complaining about the 680i, but I've built a ton of systems with this board, and I haven't had a single issue with it, so I'm not worried about having any problems. Suggestions?
 
Well if you want SLI the ds-3 will not do,

yes, a scythe or tuniq will fit on it.
 
i would wait for the 6420 to come out, its got 4 megs of L2 and will be cheaper and likely a better overclocker. As for the 680i mobo's i have heard only the best things about them for the most part, only one instance where someone was very unhappy. You also realize you are gonna see no real overall benefit from upgrading ...right? you already have a very fast system.

Exactly. What would be the point of upgrading, except to make you sig look better? Your system is very similar to my LAN party box (E6400@3.2Ghz, P5B Deluxe, 2GB RAM and X1950XT), except your video card is much better. I have no problems playing any game or doing any tasks on my computer. The upgrade you're talking about would most likely not make any discernable difference (unless you're a benchmark junky). What size monitor do you have? If you have a widescreen monitor or anything running higher then 1280x1024, the best upgrade you could make for gaming would be to sell your GTS and pick up a GTX... ;)
 
I have a 19" CRT, but I maybe upgrading soon, been eying the 226bw. If anything I'd like to get rid of this DS3, and maybe get the other GTS and cpu later. It seems like the ds3 is a bit lacking in features, and I don't have much faith in bios' that feature engrish on the menus:rolleyes: I might just breakdown and get the EVGA 680i for now, and keep an eye on the GTS and cpus.

Personally, I'd look at the P5N32-E Plus whatever the heck it is with the 650i/570 chipsets. A lot cheaper than the 680i boards and has the same board/capacitors as the striker. Seems to be a good OCer too.
