That's a 5500XT for $229 which is a crazy (bad) price for that card.
that show as 5500XT for me.
i mean right now. prices have gone way up. my 5700 was $440CAN in jan/feb its now over $600...

it is and you also have to have a business account to buy from there.
Yes, appears Neweggbusiness had it mislabelled and it was corrected, AMD shop at this moment still has it listed as a 5700XT linked to the now the 5500XT which is a terrible price.

thats why i didnt suggest it, lowest i could find was a $70-80 difference.

care to share where you found a 5700 for $270?
I'm saying it's a good deal at the ~250 mark.

5700 is ~300 which is $20 away from the $280 the 5600xt often is.

egg's cheapest is $330, amazon's is $350. if it was only $300 i would have suggested he stretch by $30 but 60-80 is pushing it.
ps: the one he specifically asked about is $270 w/ monster hunter, re3 and 3 months of xbox pass

It was not too long ago a MSI 5700 version was ~$300, coupon + rebate. Deals come and go routinely and should also for the 5600XT now. When has the 2060 ever been less than $299, even the KO version? Dell were selling Visiontek 5700XT for $349, AE version $369 (both no longer available). $250 for the 5600XT is to me reasonable, when at $270+ not really.

Edit: looks like the MSI 5700 is still available with promo code and rebate for $302. Also get Resident Evil 3 with it for free, which would save someone that cost if they were going to purchase that game.

we are talking about right now not "not too long ago" and about a specific card that is being completely ignored.

In researching it, the Nvidia issue seems pretty minor in comparison to the navi black screen issues, and it seems like it was one bunk driver fixed by a following driver. Navi has had questionable drivers since the launch of the product.

You realize AMD acknowledges there were black screen issues as the issues were fixed?

If there were no issues, what did AMD fix in March?

hwunboxed polled 40% of navi users having issues, after march driver update issues were cut in half, putting AMD on par with Nvidia in terms of reported issues. As per hwunboxed, "AMD expected 20.2.2 to solve 90% of peoples issues". How can AMD make this claim if as you and the other radeon guys claim there were never driver issues?

Don't get me wrong I love my 5700xt it offers a fantastic amount of horsepower for the money but it was hard for me to recommend it to non enthusiasts until recently.
Don't get it.
First ground up new architecture in a decade. I would assume there would be teething problems. No? AMD had hiccups for sure. It wasn't like the cards launched F'ed up. They had a miss-step or two for sure. New releases, especially brand new arch's have always had probs.
But from BOTH companies looking back. That is realized by enthusiasts for sure. We are smarter then that.
Guess what RDNA2 will be more like later GCN's later releases. Smoother ya?

You and the others can keep making excuses. Random black screens ranging in frequency from once a week to almost daily are unacceptable for nearly 9 months after launch. Creating excuses for AMD does not help AMD. Fanboys do not keep AMD graphics alive. AMD needs market penetration with the casual PC market and having the issues they had with Navi does not help. Fanboys inhibit progress.

You still have it in your system after nine months or are you making stuff up?

It's been good since the March fix. Prior to that was random black screens with no real rhythm and constantly fiddling with settings like freesync, relive, overlay, hardware acceleration in different apps. I don't mind the tinkering as an enthusiast but to say it hasn't been an issue is not true imo.

I have a 5700 XT in the secondary rig and it's been a lot better since the March fix but still had two hard lock black screen since (it still doesn't like Discord, so can't run it on that system). Prior to that it would constantly black screen all the time (check post history, several times I've complained about the card), so it's an improvement but still annoying. I still wouldn't personally recommend the card.

On the other hand, my roommate has a 5600 XT and that has been a much better card; zero times has it black screened, or had any kind of problems (he has it paired with a r5 3600).

I'm guessing you disabled hw acceleration in discord?

OP here, thought I’d chime in with my current thinking.
From everything Ive read the 5600 XT (with new bios) is roughly 8% faster than a 2060. But as many have pointed out, FPS isn’t necessary the deciding factor when choosing a card. The cheapest 5600 cards (going for $250-$270) are cheap for a reason, they’re either loud or run hot, or both. If the Sapphire Pulse had a fire sale that would be a different story. As far as Ray Tracing goes - I couldn’t care less. Other than Minecraft (witch I don’t play) nothing really interests me considering the frame rate trade off. I think at this point I’ll keep rocking the 1060 and see what happens with the new releases in a few months unless I can find a deal on a used card. I appreciate everyone’s input.
