I'd err on the side of caution and report it anyway. I've done so for several compromised accounts, unfortunately.wasnt sure because im not involved and dont have the info. just saw the post.
fine, i did, i guess one of the other mods might see it first and get the ball rolling. did you guys?!I'd err on the side of caution and report it anyway. I've done so for several compromised accounts, unfortunately.
I was about to, but I just saw your reply here so I didn't.fine, i did, i guess one of the other mods might see it first and get the ball rolling. did you guys?!![]()
I checked him yesterday when reported. No changes to that account in years and the IPs check out. Surely I would ask questions however and be SURE before buying.Reported this one earlier based on lack of activity. https://hardforum.com/threads/f-s-evga-3080-ftw3-ultra-12gb.2040957/
That was handled. Yes a compromised account. No 2FA.
Were we having a real conversation about the monitor? or was that whoever had your account?Glad to be back, now with 2FA enabled , hopefully no one got scammed...
Naah man that is me, I have always been a display nerd...I was disappointed to see the fake me try to trade Iphones via PM, I'd not be caught dead with crApple products. Were we having a real conversation about the monitor? or was that whoever had your account?
It's on now, maybe add a MFA reminder banner for dummies like me...
I meant after this particular SNAFU, something less EVGA specific... Or maybe just enforce MFA at some point.
I didnt even know we had 2FA. Wish I would of enabled it awhile ago. This my precious account.....my precious..I feel like an idiot because this is the 3rd or 4th time I looked for 2FA in the account settings and I finally saw it. I kept overlooking the little red button there.
Yes, the thing that people should be doing anyway, as well as 2FA whenever possible. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how many people use the same logins for stuff. After reading through this thread... am I supposed to have gotten the message of using more than one username AND more than one password so that I have different logins for each and every website with login credentials that I visit?
fyi for any fellow oddballs, ms authenticator seems to work fine with it.
It’s easy to check post history and get a feel for the seller. Also many of us put right in our fs thread that we have 2fa enabled, and mods have already said you can ask them to check to verify that is true on the account.Anyway you can force people who post in the for sale/trade that they cannot post unless 2FA is enabled? Been wanting to buy a few things for my steambox I’m building but man I’m hesitant with those fake posts recently
Yeah like that new random post selling a 5090 and the guy hasn’t posted in a long time. It’s easy to check post history and get a feel for the seller. It was suggested before that 2fa be a requirement to participate in the fs/t forum but that’s not something that is easy to implement from the software side.
I check post history, heat if available and look out for the easy red flags, which have been discussed at length in this thread. And use common sense. Too good to be true? Hasn’t posted in 3+ years? Pics look fake? Language is suspect? Etc.
The forum software does not allow for this, sadlyAnyway you can force people who post in the for sale/trade that they cannot post unless 2FA is enabled? Been wanting to buy a few things for my steambox I’m building but man I’m hesitant with those fake posts recently
I guess it'd be possible to require 2FA for everyone? The forum software does not allow for this, sadly
Yes. Being considered.I guess it'd be possible to require 2FA for everyone?
Exactly this. I’ve reported a few in the last week (probably others did also) and they were almost immediately taken down.Yeah like that new random post selling a 5090 and the guy hasn’t posted in a long time.
I’m glad to see this. Unfortunate to have to even consider it as a requirement but with the rash of hijacked accounts lately it would likely be helpful. I miss the good ol’ days where we just bought and sold to each other without much issue and passed good deals around. Now the hijacked accounts are eroding some of that unfortunately.Yes. Being considered.
