Hah - I noticed this too!

I've been trying to figure out how and when the weapon/ammo display shows up. I can't seem to find a key to make it show up, but I'm always reloading in the middle of shooting someone because I don't realize that my clip is low... should this always be visible or what?

It is visible... It's in the right hand lower corner and it looks like a "progress bar"... It is kinda small though, and I myself am a fan of numeric readout on the stats of my ammo.... But, after you get used to most of the weapons you tend to know when you're about to run out...
My favorite so far is an AK47 with red dot addon and deep penetration and stopping power perks... Good stuff...:D
 
Me, I'm fond of the M60E4, with the Grip addon, Stopping Power and the Steady Aim perks. Streetsweeper, and pretty good in CQ once you get used to it.
 
I'm currently stuck on the second section of "One shot, One Kill" on Veteran, I can't even get to the first checkpoint. I probably died 40 times before I turned it off last night.

I'll try it again tonight. I've never not been able to advance in a Call of Duty game on Veteran. Sure I always got stuck in spots, but I always managed to get through, eventually. I may have to notch the difficulty down a hair on this one, thats a real bummer.

Also the drivers eyes in the rearview mirror never move yet his head moves around :)

what...you don't drive like that? guess you lack the uber driving skills and peripheral vision the rest of us have.

the non-functional speedo and tach bothered me at first too...then i figured this scene takes place in a third-world country so a malfuncting car actually makes sense. :D

In Vetran for that part of the level:

Run to the far left side behind the cars and go prone in the grass and crawl all the way to the checkpoint, throwing grenades back when you can and shooting people with the pistol if they appear in front of you.

You can easily make it to the end of the level with some proper tactics, the end will destroy you though, it's almost 100% impossible to pass. There's only 1 technique for doing it on Vetran that I've seen to work.
 
I also hit level 55, got it Sunday. The game is a blast.

If you have not tried it yet you need to do this setup...

AK-74u w/iron sights - (Blue camo FTW)
(3) Flash Bangs
Stopping Power
Steady Aim

I swear this gun is amazing. It's extremely powerful and can take out an enemy with a couple bullets better then the MP44 can! The spread isn't bad at all for how fast the fire rate is and I actaully get pretty accurate shots at long range with it using bursts. I pick up weapons off the ground from my owned enemies so I don't need bandolier(double clips), but if you want you can switch out the (3) flash bangs for bandolier.

LOL, I still managed to have people over at my house for a BBQ this weekend and watch Monday night football @ http://www.nativenewyorker.com

I only get 3hrs of sleep each day M-F and on the weekends I get about 4-5hrs each day. I know it's unhealthy, but I've been doing it like this for the last 3 years and my body is used to it. I drink a redbull and eat a bowl of wheaties every morning and shortly after that I'm not tired...

Wish I could get by with 3 hours of sleep. I get 8 and am still tired in the morning.

Ive started to like the silenced M4. Seems to be pretty powerful.

Thats the weird thing, I feel just as tired with 8 hours as I do with 3hrs. So I just make more of my day by staying up later. I really like the silenced M4 too when I was around level 29 or so. It's a tight looking gun especially with blue camo.

It may be "used to" being abused but it will get you back for it in a few years. :)

I got through it, finally. I basically darted between cars, got lucky with some grenades, and then sprinted to the cp. As far as the end is concerned, there is a pavilion to the right of the ferris wheel. After the helicopters show up, I shot most of the dudes they drop, and then headed to the pavilion. Staying behind it, using flashbangs if rushed by too many dudes, using a G3 I picked up, I managed to make it through. Before that though, we won't talk about how many times I died before that. It's a big number.

"All Ghillied up" remains one of the coolest levels in a video game I've ever played.

Now, about the end of "Heat"

Holy shit.

LOL, Wheaties with milk, then drink the redbull in the car on the way to work.

It would be cool to have Red Dot Sight and a Gernade Launcher, but you are not allowed even at level 55. Only 1 item is allowed, but with the perk Overkill you can use (2) guns at once. I like having a Barrett .50 cal and a g36 w/ gernade launcher.
 
I just hit lvl 55 too last night, which unlocked the extra bligned out deagle. I must say that multiplayer is not all that challenging. But I was under the impression that once we hit 55 there would be an option for "prestige mode" ?

I agree on the all ghillied up level.

The level I had the most trouble with was the one where you start in the field and they move the LZ for pickup to back down the hill. I tried that dozens of times over a couple of different session before going around (through the barn, over the road, through the graveyard and then down the hill). I forget the name of it.

HAHA, I love that "thug style" gold plated deagle. It turnes out only Xbox has prestige mode. I own with it in my video...

There is the ability to get other gold guns though. I like moding mine out with blue camo, you get blue after 150 headshots.
 
It's good because they know we like treats. Tenner says that one of the future patches releases a little more, plus some ridiculous, fabricated ranks. These people are always great at adding material in patches.

I'll be banging my head against it a little later this evening for another hour or so.


And Shiz, I believe 'All Ghillied Up' is mission 11 +/- 1. It's in the last third of the game. Takes place as a flashback, totally a bad ass level. It's all scripted, but it's rocks so hard that you won't care.

It literally made my heart beat faster as I played it, they ratchet the 'tension level' super high on it.

Well I no longer got the "required xp" bar in my menu, which leads me to believe thats it :confused:. Unless from here on out I will just randomly lvl up ?

That's 30 solid hours of gameplay right there, by what appears to be a very skillful player (or one that's played on very generous servers, though I doubt it). A less skilled or less assisted player could take twice that long. And he's not completed all of his challenges yet, so there's probably quite a few of his weapons that don't have all their accessory unlocks yet.

So, besides the general fun of just jumping in and playing (which is fun), there's still a lot of award incentive to keep playing if you shoot right up to max level.

I still have a bunch of the harder challenges to complete as well as getting a few add ons. I will still continue to play cod4 as imo its a very well balanced game. Thats hard to come by nowadays. I did play cod2 for sometime, so hopping over to this was a natural trasition for me :).
 
proly one of the best games ive ever played. ranking is only icing on the cake, i play this game for fun

No, it just means he's a waste of space that's dedicated far too much time of his life to something that's designed to be a pastime, not a cause. Either that or he's played exclusively on S&D servers.
 
On a side note, anyone else having problems with punkbuster after playing for a while? When I'm about five mins into the game I start getting tiny framedrops every 3 seconds or so. Annoying as hell.
 
Don't know - mine will sometimes hitch, and sometimes just lock up altogether for ten seconds, go black for another three and then bring me back in, often dead, but I don't know if it's punkbuster. Annoying, though.
 
there are ways to minimize the impact of PB with console commands like pb_sleep 500 etc. I will look around for a complete list b/c I agree that PB sucks ass and only human admins can catch hackers/cheaters. be pro-active and spec someone if you think they are cheating and report them to pb.
