I've heard alot that mw2 is terrible on pc so I'm gonna avoide it like plague lol. I didn't like world at war so that leaves me with cod4 again.
I don't have the game yet as I'm about to get a new rig but I do have a few questions.
How much on avg is cod4 being sold for new/used on pc now??
Is there still alot of people playing it?

I remember almost 2 years ago when I had my old rig there was tons of ppl on cod4 pc multiplayer. When I get my rig(this week) should I get cod4 or go for bc2?

Ive never played bc2 and I don't know how demanding it is on hardware. I will have a weak gpu but I needed something to get me going since the board doesn't have onboard video. Are there any benchies that show the 8 series cards with bc2? I'm sure the card will run cod4 at 720p just fine, I never use aa so that helps..

Oh one more thing, can I use a 360 controller for the following games, cod4, bc2, fo3 and dirt 2? I had lower back surgery tuesday so I can't sit in the pc chair long til the pain has me in tears, even with taking 2 percocet every 4 hours I'm still in pain.
I'm gonna hook the pc up to my HDTV so I can sit comfortably in the least amount of pain. I will have a wireless kb/mouse but the 360 controller will be alot easier on me til I get better. I will be gaming on the couch, kinda like the best of both worlds. Comfy on the couch but with the eye candy of the pc lol.

Thanks a million guys I appreciate any and all help

you can get the GOTY edition used off Amazon for about $16. I'm not 100% positive about the online community, but I'm sure it's still alive so you can find a game easily. But it could be hackers galore for all I know. And in a thread I started a few minutes ago, it was confirmed the Xbox 360 controller would work with any games that supported gamepads. And I'm pretty sure those do. Fallout 3 definitely does. It's a game for windows Live game, and I saw the option in the settings menu.

But, I'd go for Bad Company 2. It's online is awesome, deep, and there are over 1000 servers at the moment. It's much prettier too. Plus, destructive environments.

I don't think the video card I'm getting will be able to handle bc2 even at 720p unless I use real low settings. I will have a good c2d CPU so the physics and stuff should run decent enough, I know it did on my old rig with cod4 and even crysis I could run medium physics and get a good frame rate still.

I'm off to find bc2 benchies and hopefully find one with older cards involved so I can see how it handles it. I won't be able to buy a new card for like 2 months but I'm gonna get a gtx260 more then likely

Way to think for yourself. At least try one of the free weekends that will come up. They will probably do another one when the Resurgence pack comes out.

But at that point Black Ops (which will have dedicated servers) will be right around the corner.

As for needing a controller. Maybe look into one of those small gaming pads? They take up less space than a full keyboard and have tons of buttons. Maybe rig something up on your La Z Boy?

There are approximately 1800 servers atm.... Our clan has 3 servers alone.

Oh and BC2 is a demanding game, I have a Core 2 Quad Q9300, 8GB DDR2, and a BFG Geforce 9800 GTX OC2 and I only get 20-50fps, It only drops down to 20 when the fight gets really intense!

You get a sense of being inside the game when you hear the sound of a rocket fling past your head! Its one of my favorite games!

You're gonna get your ass kicked playing online with a controller. Mouse and keyboard all the way.

I'll have to see how I do with a controller, I tend to play sneaky and smart so I doubt if the controller really affects me, I remember playing cod4 on pc like 2 years ago and there was some dumb ass people playing lol. I just gotta try and see what happens

I would much rather prefer to use a m/kb, I will see if I can rig it up somehow so I don't have to use a controller. I will use a dinner tray or something to sit the m/kb on lol

mw2 on pc is great. f the haters

And BFBC2 is pretty good too, just not my cup of tea.

Bc2 looks bad ass. I watched a video last night were this guy had a c2d at 3.6ghz 4gb ram and a 8800gs playing at 1280x1024 I believe and it looked really good, it didn't stutter or lag when there was big explosions.

After I get my rig up and running I'm gonna try to find a demo and see if I like it, I probably will..

 Do you try every single game that's released? Or do you occasionally go by reviews or recommendations from people you trust?

You don't need to try a game to know it lacks dedicated servers. The published information about it is damning enough to know that most serious gamers don't even want to touch it.

MW2 was alright; felt like a game that I had already played several times with other names.

BC2, on the other hand, is just stupid amounts of fun. The gameplay itself is pretty samey; I really think that it comes down to the audio as it is ridiculously good and immersive. It's one of the few games where even in a pickup game I feel like a vital part of the team.

CoD MW2 is a great game. Fast run and gun more about reflexes than the weapon you are carrying.

BF BC2 is a great game, but needs some serious patching and DICE doesn't seem to be doing anything about fixing issues. The game is more about teamwork then reflexes and early on the weapons are awful - you will die...alot... till you unlock some better weapons. You need a quad core and decent GPU.

I hate how everyone thinks you have to be on one side or the other - they are totally different games. I hit level 70 on CoD MW2 is about 2 weeks. I'm still only level 23 on BF BC2 but have almost unlocked everything. With BF BC2 you are at DICE's mercy for them to fix stuff though and they suck at doing that - always have.

I'll be getting a better video card for sure when I have the cash for it.
I've been searching around for something that will run off of a antec earthwatts 430 watt power supply. I think I'm gonna b stuck with a hd4850 or 9800gtx+ video card tho.

I used a 9800gtx+ before and got good framerates with it but yet again I'm only playing at 1280x720 lol

Fix what exactly? I haven't played BFBC2 for a couple of weeks, but I didn't have any problems with it. The server browser was crap, they fixed it so its at least bearable now. There was a few glitches here and there, many of which have been patched.

The overall performance drop most nvidia users had. They were going back to earlier build to find out what happened. A few patches had extra debugging enabled so I'm assuming this is probably what is causing it.

here are some of the issues being addressed, this patch has been delayed multiple times now due to crashes and more problems arising. We were first promised this back in April. The problem is they cannot get it out the door.

There's no PC demo of Bad Company 2, just one for the consoles.

Link to that video? The way you talked about it makes that video sounds very fishy.

Oh and COD4 is GPU heavy, not CPU heavy. So you can have an Athlon X2 CPU and it still would run the same as if it was on a C2Q. With BF:BC2, it's both CPU and GPU heavy. My sig rig is just about right for BF:BC2 at medium settings at 1440x900.
