I couldn't believe it, buried deep under a pile of boxes I find a box of old computer stuff... All the boxes, receipts but no cards :(

What are the free games on the first box, I can't tell from here.

f*ck YEAH!
I dont login much to post, but those boxes take me back.
Had all the video cards.. including an earlier viper v550 I think it was.. and the original monster.. dang im getting old. Anyways nice post!

ah reminds me of back in the day when i actually sold cards like those... i got a voodoo5 some years later on ebay but wasnt compatible with my agp slot, and thus never got to even use one :-(

The games with the Viper were 'Wild Metal Country' and 'Superbike World Championship' - I don't remember either so they must have both blown.

lol. I got a Voodoo3 3000 from 3Dfx back in the day for free because I was coding an emulator. It was awesome and lasted me a long time. It was eventually replaced by a Radeon 9700 Pro.

Glad to see the box art for video cards has changed little over the years, hell that Voodoo box looks cooler than 90% of the boxes I've seen any video cards come in lol.

Yeah for a while there Diamond was one of the best then they just kinda died.

diamond monster 3d/3dII video card,
adn the diamond monster audio pci cards!

man, i loved that company back in the day!

Dang I remember I bought the Creative 3D Blaster Voodoo II instead of the Diamond because Creative was cheaper. I also remember the Voodoo Rush being the first 2D/3D solution from 3dfx, I also got that for a 2nd computer after some sort of sales at Fry's. Those were the days!

sweetness, great time of gaming.

I still own alot of diamond products
Diamond Viper 550 16MB
Diamond Viper 770 32MB (non-Ultra)
Diamond Monster 3Dfx I 4MB
3x Diamond Monster 3Dfx II 12MB

I used to even own a Diamond Monster Banshee 16MB (craptastic 2D/3Dfx all-in-one)

I was kinda hoping you had a picture of the V770 Ultra 32MB, Don't remember what it looks like, have to google I guess.

Voodoo 3, man I remember when I was tryin to play Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed on the computer, but everything had purple textures on my integrated graphics. Then I bought the Voodoo 3 and OMG it was so realistic!! Good card.

+1. One of the best cards I have ever owned.

Aww man, this takes me back.

My first "real" setup was a Voodoo 2 SLI, which was later replaced by a Voodoo 3500.

Anyone remember the video review that HardOCP and a bunch of other sites did when the Voodoo 5 was launched?

I still think the best NFS game I played was Hot Pursuit - that was so much fun!

I remember when I got it, I really knew nothing about computers, so my dad installed it with a metal wire attached to his wrist and the computer to prevent getting shocked as the whole family watched him, hahahahaha.

I just came across one of those cards about a week ago...along with the original user's manual. Is that freaky or what? I still also have a full VoodooII setup. Lol..."good times".

Wow.. I remember my voodoo orginal card. I moved to a Matrox G200 with dual voodoo 2 cards.. 600$ in video cards.. Quake II hauled ass!!!:D

Lol I still have an anti-static bracelet somewhere, I don't think I have used it for YEARS... Oh computers were so alien to us like 10 years ago!

My Diamond Monster 3D II was my first experience with hardware accelerated graphics. NFS II and Forsaken was like playing two completely different games before and after the card install.

Sure it wasn't an antistatic bracelet? A wire wrapped around his wrist hooked to ground isnt gonna help him stop from getting shocked lol.

OMG, I forgot those cards was awesome...,Yes I played Quake series with cards that time also expensive one around $300 but wait for price come down $199 I think and it was purchased from Compusa along with rebate and UPC code.

wow I actually had 2 770's and returned them to circuit city many years ago could never get them to work right

My retro gaming box has a V5-5500 AGP that I bought new back in the day.

First 3dfx card I had was the Rush, then the Banshee, then a V3 something.. we owned all of them from 2000-3500.. still have the 3500 with the huge cable thing that goes with it.

The the V5-5500... crazy long card.. kept it purley for glide support as well as way better image than the Nvidia cards of the era.... Perfect fit in my retro box with a Slot-A Athlon, SB AWE-64 GOLD, 768MB? RAM, and Win98SE.... Oh yeah!

I really should break out my old rig sometime and play some Glide games on it.

I bitched and moaned about paying $320 for my GTX 285 and then I took a look at the receipts...

I wonder if I used my employee discount on any of those....

Monster 3d II - $250 (4/98) - DAMN

Voodoo 3 3000 - $145 (6/99)

PS - I miss Descent a ton.

Viper V770 Ultra - $205 (8/99)

ah man, memories. My first card was a Banshee 12MB PCI, made by Quantum (another ghost of graphics past). That card was amazing.

Anyone remember the Voodoo Rush? I remember having one for a short time. I think it was 6mb.
