Clean Your Damn Computer!!!

you know i had a dell think it was an e5000 and it was worst this.this is bad for being a newer build wow!! get the dust buster out and get er done!!!!

My aunts computer looks just like that, it was my first build but since i sold it i dont care about it they smoke in front of it and turn a heater on right next to it. They never clean it. Next time she ask me to clean it i will take a pic for everyone. it is really bad and its terrible when you are cleaning it and then you take a breath and it all comes in your lungs. Plus i notice it makes your lips weird cuz the dust gets on them NASTY! I hate cleaning her computer...

Betting $1 he asked his computer friend to build him a machine to play some "cool games" and then busted it by visiting too many porn sites. Take it into a computer repair shop and voila.

Nothing beats taking off a computer case and having roaches run at you.

What the hell? Who does that to a computer?

I mean... three DIMMs installed, and four DIMM slots?

COME ON.

THAT is gross,I can't imagine what there house looked like..
I have an upright air compressor with a 100ft hose,i place a fan in the window blowing out and crack another window and hit it with the air compressor and the fan pulls the dust outside..a couple times a month I clean out all our computers..

Antec just linked to this on their facebook wall. :)

OMG Id be so pissed if I opened a computer that someone brought me to fix and roaches came wondering out at me..

Makes me glad I own an FT02 with fan filters.

Clean those babies out once a month. Owned it for six months and only took some compressed air to it once so far. Didn't even really need it but I figured there was a little dust that I couldn't see.

This case was worth every fucking penny.

I upgraded my brothers PC after 2 years, no cleanup at all in meantine. the dust filter was full, there was some very small dust layer on bottom of the case plus a minimal dust on components, nothing you couldn't solve with a simple air blow from your lungs. I can't imagine how can anyone come up with such... mess ?

Hmm, if you're too lazy to dust your room regularly your computer can look pretty bad in less than a year. I'd post pics of my system, which hasn't been cleaned in like 11 months, to back up my post but I'm afraid I'd be banned. I swear I'm going to clean it after this semester is over with!

KILL IT WITH FIRE.

And also, isn't there some kind of like vat of stuff you can dump PC's like this into to remove the crap?

Besides lava, acid, and equally destructive things, that is.

That's not dust from smoking, it's not brown nor thick/sticky enough.

That has to be legit dust from something. Impressive.

legit dust no doubt but I'd bet the person that sent the pic is a smoker too, yuck...

:(

My daughter, who has been living at her mom's for the past 4 years, brought her system to me because it "kept crashing". The picture (of the front panel removed) should finish any other description of the problem...

This is why I clean mine every week. Compressed air and rubbing alcohol. Shines up really nice :)

Ahh...the howard hughes school of pc maintenance.

Every six months or so for me. But my home is generally clean and we don't smoke.

Very clean home. Just a minor OCD issue I guess. Plus I like to show my rig off to my friends at our LANs. But when it does come down to it I am a clean freak and have a huge dust problem lol.

Im right there with you dude, I was constantly cleaning dust out of my Panzerbox on a weekly basis. Now, I just pull the fan filters out once a week and get the dust off them, components are nice and shiny all the while.

At this point the case is home to thousands of species of living organisms. Cleaning it is probably illegal.

I haven't really cleaned my computer in two years, but then again I dont have a lot of dust or other air borne particulates. Also my PC is at one of the highest points in the room so less dust settles near it. There is barely even a visible layer of dust on most parts even after 2 years.

that is nothing, here is my computer a month ago... cpu started overheating and pc would shut down on warning temp... so thought it was time to clean it http://i.imgur.com/QtYHF.jpg yes it is the pc in my sig too

Do you store it on the floor? If so that is your problem right there. A few feet off the ground and a good portion of the dust could be reduced.

WHAT

how do you breathe?

This thread is amazing. scorpions, roaches, spider webs, teeth, cats licking nicotine dust off fan filters. man, I'm grossed out.

Clearly its crashed because it still has a floppy drive :eek::eek:

TakeN0Prisoners asks:

Doesn't look like an old computer either. GTX 280 maybe?

Answer:
2 years 2 weeks old. GTX 260.

ns13d1 stated:

This machine was an outdoor rig at least seems to be, the back of my brain hurt a little when i saw it

Answer:
No. Not an outdoor machine.

Ualdayan

That looks like a Venomous X or some other high end CPU cooler. Odd that he'd take it somewhere where they'd take a photo of it and post here. Unless it's the owner who sent the picture in.

Answer:
It's a Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283. We built this computer. It is one of about 50 like it, a MK IV Stock Custom in fact. It was in recently for maintenance and a possible warranty claim. For training purposes, we retained a picture to illustrate a prime example of neglect vs a manufacturing defect.

Slash3 says:

Answer:
That is a Gigabyte X58-UD3R. The early UD3 came with 4 slots, populating all 4 enabled two dual channel banks, or a single triple channel bank with the 4th slot unpopulated. This one has 3 x 2GB G.Skill Pi Series DDR3-1333.

LOLed hard. Said the same thing doing a data transfer at an apple store. nobody else got it.

I found this to be a problem with 02-05 "brand named" machines.

that is nothing, here is my computer a month ago... cpu started overheating and pc would shut down on warning temp... so thought it was time to clean it. yes it is the pc in my sig too

Changing the air filter in your home quarterly (let alone monthly) fixes a lot of these issues. See a shit ton of dust in your house? change the air filter. clearly its not doing its job anymore.

Clearly its crashed because it still has a floppy drive :eek::eek:

LOL

I have gone open bench style with two of my machines for the last six months, and it helps to see the accumulation in action. If it's there in front of you, it's more of a reminder to clean it than to think about it when you're taking a shit between deathmathces

I guess I need to start taking pictures of some of my clients computers, it puts one like this to shame at times, my all time favorite to this day is when I found a half eaten sandwich crusted to the bottom of someones chasis, I asked them if they wanted it back....they declined.

My god, how can that poor 260 (i think its a 260) even run anymore? I had to disassemble my wife's 260 because it was overheating and have lots of dust stuck in the fins. It looked totally clean on the outside.

I built a PC for a friend with components he picked and paid for. Forty days later, he called and said, "You built me a piece of SH##!T" I went to his house, and the PC would not boot. I took off the side panel, and literally, hundreds of water bugs and roaches came out.

The power supply looked as if rubber cement was poured inside.

Insanity.........

shit that gtx 260 is rusted:eek:

btw it has a very high tech space age liquid spidercooling system in which spiders enter inside the heatsink fan and are grinded.then its blood is used to cool the system.
it offers excellent heat conductivity. manufactured by spidertek corps.
dont laugh this company has 10 patents under them.

... i never really clean my computer... its only cause i dont have to cause i keep my house clean...

Argh!!! How can people do this to their computers ?!? Must keep my precious clean, must... keep... clean...
