A friend of mine ask me to help him put together a machine that is small like s shuttle, quirt and cheap, like around 400-500 for case, mobo, processor, ram, I think of the following parts.

Getting that Apevia case+PSU combo would be a pretty fucked-up thing to do to your friend considering the shitty quality of Apevia PSUs:

It'll only be $15 more than that Apevia X-Qpack once shipping is factored in but you get a significantly better quality PSU for your friend.
 
I'm curious as to why you went with the X6 1055T and not one of the X4 quads. What will your friend be using this system for?
 
I consider the x6 since I know he use photoshot quite a bit and x6 really benefit that.

I think of 2 build, one is fast and cheap, pther is small and quiet.

Definitely small but overpriced, hotter, and lower quality (Another case with a crappy PSU)

If you don't want a normal DVD drive (internal), or are willing to use a laptop (slim) DVD drive, then may you consider the SG05 or SG06?

Either comes with a decent power supply unit, that is easily capable of powering most mITX setups, and is rather small...

Though the setup you have now is decent :)
