Catalyst 10.10 Released

Not as of now. Any game that's taking advantage of CGPU is using either CUDA or DirectCompute. But OpenCL has too many advantages over the other two(much bigger install base being the biggest) so it will be used. Folding@Home will be one of the first big victories for it once they release the new client, which is currently in closed testing.

Good to know. Thanks. Hey, for these application profiles, how are you guys installing them? Do you uninstall the old application profiles and then install the most current application profile? I've been doing it that way and was wondering how others install them?

I've always just installed both the driver and App profiles right atop the old ones. Haven't run across any issue yet. The only time I've found that you need to completely remove the driver is when switching brands or you want to install an older driver.

I think that AMD Accelerated Processing is OpenCL, did they stop supporting Stream? I wonder if that's the reason of the issue with Cyberlink MediaShow Expresso, I'm downloading to check it.

As a 4870x2 user ( I didn't really have problems with standard releases, they picked up the Linked Adapter, but I am on 10.9a now anyway) is there a reason that they can't mainline these fixes? This has been like several separate versions that have an "a" or "b" for CrossFireX users or dual GPU Cards.

I hope they put forth a 10.10 mobile for both Win and Linux too. They skipped 10.9 but it was really nice installing 10.8 on my HP Envy without having to use a mobility modder or similar hack.

Edit: Woot. Mobility 10.10 is up as is Linux 10.10. Good work, AMD.

It seems ATI made a slight error in regards to the color temp. The Default value should be 6500K (not 6600K) and altering it causes the color temp to become stuck.

Playing WoW with a 4870x2 and it seems like my second GPU is always at 0% load while the primary is at 99%.

Using latest + app profiles.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone other than me had huge issues with 10.10? I tried to update from 10.4 to 10.10, it appeared to work fine until I restarted my computer and got a BSoD for ATIKMDAG.EXE and ATIKMDAG.SYS.
I had to go to the last known good, which really hosed my system. So now I am looking at doing a full format and reinstall unless someone has a fix, please.

No problems here. Awhile ago, I had problems, too, but I did a system restore and things were ok again.

I notice things seems to be a bit snappy and fast going from 10.9 to 10.10

I uninstall CCC first. Then reboot it to Safe Mode. Use Driver Sweeper to clean it off. (There is a 2.6 version out, but cant find the portable version). Then I use CCCleaner to clean out the registry.

Reboot and install 10.10

My computer has been crashing when I play 1080p movies (half the time, but playing 720p never crash)when using 10.9 and my VMWare Desktop would hang.

I will see if 10.10 cures it.

I wish you luck. I had to format my hard drive and reinstall my OS because of 10.10 errors.

ATI bundles a sort of driver clean sweep and is what I always use. Don't need to boot to safe mode either. It's the ATI Catalyst install manager and you just direct it to uninstall everything ATI, reboot and install new drivers. NP ever doing that it that way.

10.10 is actually the easiest catalyst upgrade/install I've had in a while- it worked perfectly without having to change a thing- straight install over the top of 10.9.

Oddly enough, I agree and I didn't even have to reboot.

Does anyone else have this issue with Dual LCDs and a 5000 series card? Whenever I watch a flash video or any video on one of my LCDs I get this quick black line flicker on the other LCD.

Are there any hacks or quick fixes to resolve this issue? I didn't have it with my old 4870, but with this 5850 I have this annoying flicker on my secondary LCD.

So how are these 10.10 drivers faring? Any crossfire + eyefinity users want to chime in?

I'm excited to hear what AMD broke this time.

No problems with that here, and I'm running 5750 crossfire.

I haven't benchmarked any games, but everything seems to be running very well so far. No problems. I haven't had much time to game though, just booted up a few to make sure I didn't have any big problems.

These are probably the most functional set of drivers I've seen in a while on my setup. Theres still a bug involving Flash video acceleration though (if you run a game with a flash video running in the background your primary GPU doesn't clock up). I haven't tested out HDMI in crossfire yet so I'm not sure if there are still issues there.

these 10.10a drivers are sick, cfx works fine in SC2. Will bench BFBC2 - how do I get the console?

I disabled CFX by clicking the disable catalyst AI and ran the game and during normal gameplay I was getting 60 to 80 fps and like 120 or so fps in the load screens (all reported with fraps), and then with it enabled it was rather low like 40 to 60 during game and as low as 2 or 5 fps during the loading scenes

I just googled them I searched for amd 10.10a drivers. Amd I'm using the 10.10 app profiles

Disable Hardware Acceleration in Flash. Right click on a youtube video or something and go to Settings then the first tab.

10.10 completed destroyed my FPS in WoW. Everything else seems to have improved. BC2 + eyefinity runs better than it ever has. Played for at least 2 hours last night with no glitches.

Are you running in Windowed mode? Many people run in "Fullscreen" Windowed Mode which looks identical to regular Fullscreen mode, but many use it either because they have multiple monitors and like being able to move their mouse seemlessly off one monitor onto the other while in-game or because you can alt-tab quicker or even have your IM windows, etc on-top of the game.

Running in any form of windowed mode however, will not allow the use of more than one GPU. You have to run in regular Fullscreen mode.

That is really the only thing I've ever seen (aside from user error like having Catalyst AI disabled, etc) that has caused WoW to only use one GPU.

You could try using DirectX11 instead of DirectX9 and see if it works any better for you. Keeping in mind that the DirectX11 mode in-game works equally well on DirectX10 and 10.1 hardware. You can enable DirectX11 by modifying the "target" field in your game shortcut to read like this:

....World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -d3d11

Are you using the 10.9a CAP that has the WoW DX11 Crossfire fix?

I normally play in FullScreen mode but I switched it to Windowed Mode so I could look at the GPU load in CCC.
I guess that explains that problem.

I tried GPU-Z (with logging) but it always reported both my cores were running at 3d speed all the time, either while sitting on the desktop or in game. It never changed. That's kinda strange.

I'll try the DX11 thing with WoW later tonight.
Thanks.

10.10c hotfix drivers are out.

Performance optimizations for systems with an AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 and AMD Radeon HD 6850 series of graphics products installed

  • Aliens versus Predator performance enhancements
  • Star Craft 2 performance enhancements
  • OpenGL performance enhancements – gains can be seen in Prey, Quake Wars: Enemy Territories, and Heaven v2

IMO, the New Vegas fixes are the most welcome, but MoAA is welcome as well, even though I can’t use it.
