I wanted to see if I was the only one like this. I spend hours on the computer looking at computer cases. I only have a couple builds at time and theres hundreds of cases out there. In the past year I have gone threw a corsair 200r, 550d, 500r, antec df-85, FD R4, Lian li pc-k62, and a cooler master storm scout. I constantly look around for new cases and when something goes on sale or gets a rebate I start to drool. Sometimes I have more than 1 case sitting in my closet waiting for its chance to house my parts. And dont get me started on case fans I have 20+ new in closet.

i think about doing this, but then i get a grip and don't do what you are doing. :D

I know the feeling, I have so many different cases around but i never feel like using any of them for "this build" so I need another new one :D

The type of case used is everything to me.
I spend hours looking at cases, carefully planning my build.

Picking the wrong case will turn any idea sour.
I've had atleast 20 cases over the last two years, three more within the last month.

We had a thread about a year ago where we listed all the cases we ever owned. My list was in the top three and I've only been building for two years at that time.

This month I bought the Fractal Midi, Cosair 200r, Cooler Master Cosmos Pure, looking at the Lian Li V700WX and may buy the Cosair 900D too.

I seem to have a hard time getting rid of my older Lian Li cases. I have 4 of them sitting in the garage wrapped in plastic. Plus a 4U and 1U server cases. Plus pretty much every case I've ever bought since 1995. I guess I'm a case hoarder.

/@support group; Hi, my name is wra18th and I'm a case hoarder. lol

I have ten computer cases sitting in my room right now and only four of those have working PCs in them.

I use to be. I finally tossed all my old cases like 6 months ago.

I have a CM 690 that's currently serving as a TV stand for a 75+ pound CRT (Sony PVM studio monitor). My current case is an old CM Storm Scout. I've always wanted to buy a ton of cases and feel 'em up, but I don't have the cash or the space. It would be awesome to exclusively review cases for some hardware site... ;)

I'm exactly the opposite, I buy whatever is somewhat nice and cheap and use old dell cases for small builds I have around the house. I should really buy a nicer case for my desktop though. I'm thinking an r4...

I've been through several...now that I'm watercooling and have a MountainMods box...don't do it so much at all anymore :D

No kidding! I thought it was getting out off hand... spending hours on the net researching for the perfect one, and since such case does not exist, you get the one that is next in line, while still searching for the next big thing. I usually end up with only one functioning case, and donor cases.

All I ever wanted from Lian Li is to make number of case styles with three shared characteristics: case width, panel/chassis material thickness, and similar angles or curves. I would be very happy to buy three of those only so I can take them apart, and make my perfect hybrid. Have you noticed how very little interchangeability is possible with most of the cases out there? These guys here are onto something. They researched and developed their own optimal design, and strive to make it professionally produced. Who can deny the appeal of clean, smooth, factory lines?

Wow! I just wrote my first rant on this forum! Sorry. Just venting my frustrations with my case project.

Well the forbidden place (newegg) had a bitfenix prodigy for $80 shipped and Ive always wanted a bitfenix case but Ive never done ITX. Ive always wanted a Mountain Mod case but cant get myself to actually spend $300+ on a case but in all reality I probably go threw that buying cases.

this is why I stop at drooling
if I bought every case I was interested in I'd be up to my armpits in cases

Just your armpits:eek:? Im sure Id have to build a garage just to house all the cases Ive ever considered or almost hit "add to cart" button. I have no reason to but Im looking at a ITX build just for the fun of it.

I used to be....settled on a PC-V1000 for a long time, which was only sold when I switched to an FT02. That was sold when I had an SR-2 system when I was really into F@h which eventually went into a PC-A77FB for $151. Then I got out of F@h when the electric bill tripled and sold the SR-2 system for a 2600K system and a Define R3 for awhile. Just recently I sold most of that to save some money and go down to a $100 2500K and a Core 3000 which was only $29.

I'm still a 'fan' of cases and case design but the constant gut swapping for new cases....I'm well beyond that, it's not worth the trouble anymore to me. LL isn't the nearly-inobtainable 'Eleanor' of cases anymore and I'm more of a 'bang for the buck' and function over form fan than anything. When it really boils down to it, how often do you really eyeball your case when you're using the computer?

I still do eyeball the case selections at Microcenter and browse through at NewEgg or Amazon but as for buying and using....nah, not anymore. I already get enough grief from my wife for the probably dozen cases that went in and out my door over the last few years; I've heard enough. I love the planning, the shopping, the buying and the building....it's the 'using' and 'keeping' that gets me. :D

I like looking at cases, but i would never, ever buy another. I have spent as much on my Level 10 case as i should have spent on cases throughout my entire life.

I used to be a case hoarder. I'd buy a case because the price and features were good, and I'd keep it inside in plastic wrap until that one day, someday where it would be needed.

Not anymore.

I now run open case rigs, some with sheetmetal as thin as a coffee can's. But I still want better cooling, so my next "case" will be made out of a cookie sheet with good grounding and precise mobo standoff placement, and I will love it and cherish it, and never pet it backwards.

LOL

The desktop gets a nice case, the folding machines get whatever cheap case they will fit into, if that means i put a dual cpu mobo into a 10 year case then so be it

I have 9 cases in my closet, and I have owned more than 20 total just in the last two years. I would say I'm a case hoarder.

I've only got two spare cases: A Zalman Z9 U3 and some SUN workstation chassis.

I was one too so I ended up joining a company that specialized in designing and building cases. :D

Very nice tony but unfortunately some arnt as lucky as you and get a job like this. I love cable management, I could spend all day just fixing up all the cables in the back of my case. I like clean tighty builds.

I have an old pentium 1 gateway in what looks like a AT case. I've had it since new and can't get myself to scrap it because I keep telling myself I can reuse the case at some point. All the plastic is brittle and most of it has cracked or broken off, but the main part of the case is like 30 pounds of solid steel!

I have gone through an insane amount over the years too, i wasn't satisfied til i got a Caselabs case.

Well Im thinking of going from r4 to cm haf xb, why idk lol because I can. Time to put credit cards in dresser so I cant use anymore.

Cases last me around 2 years, so no to that one. Case fans on the other hand, I have quite a few of those around.

I have to throw away like 12 or so cases a year so that i wont end up hording all of them. Mostly the cheap ones. Currently i have a CM ATCS100sx, NZXT Khaos, A velocity micro branded Lian Li and a Older sony VIAO. case sitting about.

i have an empty antec super lanboy case laying around. just can't bring myself to get rid of it, too many good times with that thing, plust my first non-oem big box store case. i might put something into it someday.

I've been eyeing mountain mods case always wanted one and when i get tax money i might finally do it. But for now the cm hsf xb might have to do me over till then.

I used to be a case hoarder like you but then I took a wife to the available living space. *grins*

That is entirely joking, frequent moves led me to downsize almost all my excess cases quite some time ago.

After reading a few reviews for caselab's cases I've found rather quickly that mountain mods cases aren't what they're cracked up to be. If you're going to buy a case like a mountain mods case skip them and go with a caselabs case

If I could afford switching cases often I would, but I am normally very selective on my cases. Fan placement size etc... I like lots of air movements and room for water cooling
