Building a cheap computer for my uncle, i have a 1366 motherboard and i purchase 2 cpu for $20
1st one is 5504, 2nd is 5520. i want to build my self a computer too so i want to take the 5520 for myself, that's why i wanna ask that can 5504 render video better than core i5 or something like that

That Xeon is a 4C/4T chip running at 2GHZ. Knowing that all lynnfield/1st generation i5s launched with a clock speed higher than that, for pure rendering purposes, any desktop variant of the i5 will be faster.

is it significantly difference?

The 5520 is down ~400 mhz vs the i7 920, but these are on even footing with 4c/8t.

It's not that far off, especially if you are trying to build on the cheap. But consider that 400mhz is still almost 20% difference.

how about xeon 5520 vs i7 920?

Like mda said, it's not an awful difference, but when it comes to video rendering, you need all the CPU you can get. I would, at the very least, look for one of the 32nm six core 1366 CPUs and overclock its dick off if it still has it left in it.
