Calling Logitechfreak

you all got screwed

consider thyself updated

Dude, what is your problem? I'm hoping you're trying to be sarcastically funny, but this whole holier-than-thou attitude is seriously almost as bad as Logitechfreak's trolling ass. Why do you insist on kicking people when they're down?

If you're not involved in any way, shut the f*ck up already. What's happened has happened and all that people can do now is try to fix things and learn their lessons. Seriously, you sound exactly like Logitechfreak with your horrible grammar and massive / lack of use of periods.

Online transactions on forums like these are all built on trust and relationships; when they go well, it's a beautiful thing; when they go bad, they go bad. A lot of people have been scammed and are now trying to fix it; if you have nothing positive to contribute besides patronizing bullsh*t, then stop posting.

EDIT: Still looking for those updates on contact and whatnot. I count at least three or four people who have gotten refunds, so it's really up in the air what's going on here.

Logitechfreak is seriously the worst troll I have read about to date. I'm sure there has been worse but I think he fucked (or tried to fuck) 15 + people that we know about. Whadadoosh.

yeah, I count myself lucky to have gotten my refund and gotten out when I did

geez guys... lets try to stick together and head the same direction.

everyone is pissed that they got scammed or couldve got scammed, but lets just concentrate on what actions should be taken before this thread gets locked because of some other reasons.

i am actually very good with grammar and punctuation, but i soon realized on the internet nobody gives a flying hoot if you use proper grammar and punctuation, so i let myself relax, bite me on that

i guess i keep thinking people will realize this is the internet, a collective of complete strangers, and i for the life of me cannot figure out why anybody would trust complete strangers with their money or things in such a manner

like i said, i have bought things here, never got screwed, but always small dollar items, so if i do get screwed it's not a major loss

all i did was post the truth, sorry i didn't sugar coat it with a bunch of empty meaningless "oh i feel so bad for you guys" type remarks....get real dude, people took chances they did not have to take, with these chances was a very real great risk of getting screwed, it happened, maybe people will learn from it

btw, the words "trust and relationships" do not at all go well with "strangers and internet", trust and relationships are things you have with your wife or girlfriend or best friend you grew up with, not a stranger you met on the internet who has something you want.......people are just getting far too relaxed on the internet these days that they actually DO feel like they have some sort of special personal level "relationships and trust" with complete strangers.....i dont get it, its like the whole myspace or facebook thing....complete waste of time unless you use it to stay in touch with people you actually know in REAL life, and even then last time i checked telephone, pencil, pen, paper, email, IM, and all the other forms of communication still work well for that without turning yourself into some sort of voyeurism magnet

but they wont....they'll keep doing stupid things and getting all worked up because they feel cheated when the truth is they cheated themselves

I think the ones who got refund were the "last batch" of transactions he did that gone south.. my guess is that he tried to fix them before going all out for the latest batch.. which unfortunately the bigger transactions... like Q6600 or 24 LCDs (like me)... these bigger transactions ($100+) never got refunded, am i right or not?

Wow I'm surprised I missed this thread. I just bought an 8800gtx from him a week and a half ago. Now after I sent the payment he said he would ship the card at the end of week and give me the dc#. A week goes by and I don't receive any pm with the #. I pm him and he says oh sorry I'm setting up a systems for a lanparty but I can send the # after I get back. Just this past saturday I get a pm with the dc#, which I check and it says that it was shipped on the 9th which confuses me because he said he would ship it out the week before. So I pm him asking him if he shipped out the card the week before and he said he did through priority mail, which should only take 2-3 days to arrive. Now I'm here still waiting for the card and I'm starting to worry after all these people being scammed by this guy.

I'm wondering should I ask for a refund or should I wait another 2-3 days to see if anything shows up?

file a paypal dispute and escalate it to a claim to paypal NOW, thats the very least that you should've done by now.

THere are more you can do, check out the anand link.. if you want wait for the contact info I mentioned a few posts ago, then call his local police

Well mine was fairly low-dollar ($72), but it really rests on if anyone has gotten in contact with him today, since he was supposed to do a bunch of shit today, like the scans, shipments, and refunds.

It is possible he went out with a bang with those high dollar CPUs and 24" LCD. Right now with him being unable to publicly post anywhere, what's going on with Paypal? Anyone get any money back?

EDIT: Just saw the new stuff. This has not stopped snowballing. Open a Dispute and Claim immediately, jaded.

Filing a dispute now. Wow now I feel like an idiot for actually trusting this guy, well live and learn.

EDIT: Just filed a dispute and escalated it to a claim.

Damn this all! Im broke and without a dual core in the computer I need it in :( I need a 939 X2 soon and bad. I wish I didnt owe this Fx57 to someone or Id just trade it for an X2. Anyone want to let go of a 3800/4200+ to help a fella out?

j/k Im not snooping to begging (its the internet, not like it would do anything but piss people off right?)

Maybe theres some glimmer of a chance he will send me a refund MO like he said but I realllllly doubt it.

I doubt hes buying the stuff to ship out man... he was out to scam after all. Paypal is just waiting for the 10 days to expire if he doesn't respond or provide proofs. Then the ones who filed will win the dispute, what happens after that, I dont even know.

@Kido1986 Your out a processor and I'm out a video card

This the exact reason why I hate having to deal with online sellers. Your basically taking a gamble and there always that one asshole that ruins everything.

Just filed a dispute too. Payed him $63 for an X2 3800+

i do know

my father got screwed by a guy, paid via paypal, never got laptop, filed and excalated claim with paypal, Paypal responded after a week or two and said that there was no funds in the offenders account and other than suspending the account there was nothing more that could be done, basically they told him "sorry about your luck, get over it"

my dad did his own homework and found out the guys identity and where he lived and all, gathered all the info, turned it over to the local sheriffs dept where the guy lived, local sheriff picked up the guy and locked him up and told him he would get out when my dad called to say he got his money back, guy had friend Western Union all money back within 48 hours, guy gets out of jail, dad gets money back

thats a real story of how it could go if you try hard enough....of course this was a $600 transaction, so if the amount is like $20 or even $100 i doubt you will get far

He scammed me before on [H] for some parts when he was 'Darkside50420'

Actually I am quite close, I am out $410, and I will be calling his local sheriff, the problem is I am from Canada so don't know if that will affect anything.

could, actually it could be to your benefit, could be that that amount across the US/Canada border could qualify as some sort of federal offense..???

dunno, you'd have to ask someone else

Actually I disagree complete for one simple reason this guy was a perfect scammer waiting to happen everything checked out he had decent heatware he even had a good excuse for his negitive feedback, "Oh yah" I asked him and debated it with him for a couple of days before I sent him any money, or the fact of him having negitives that had not been solved, paypal even way good, he just seemed like some guy that had a problem with a few people.. Wrong =-)

Ive delt with people with bad feedback in the past and personaly I havent had a problem this time it bit me and I probly wont deal with anyone with under 40 heat with negitives ever again, its just plain right out to danm risky.

And apperently by the looks of how many people did dealings with him, im not the only one with this habit, "PEOPLE GET NEGTIVES FOR A REASON STAY AWAY." so I understand were your comming from and its our own falts for dealing with this looser plain and blatently simple.

Last Dont hurt my pride anymore please.. its already had a 2 day $200 whoopin we dont need it from somone on our side plz thx.

what happens after that, I dont even know.

When a claim is escalated, the amount is "frozen" in thier paypal account. Once paypal rules in your favor (which the most likely will), "IF" those funds are available in his account they will be returned to you.

Where you run into problems is if the scammer (LogitechFreak) removes the money from his paypal account before the claim is escalated you are screwed.

  • Example.
  • LogitechFreak has $0 in his PayPal account.
  • I send him $200 for a video of his mother involved in animal sex acts.
  • LogitechFreak has $200 in his PayPal acount.
  • Fast forward 7 days
  • LogitechFreak purchases 3 gay porn DVD's for $40 (either paying via paypal, using a paypal debit card, transfered the money to his bank account, requested a paper PayPal check) his new PayPal total is $160.
  • I file a claim and escalate it.
  • PayPal puts a hold on his account for the $200 he recieved from me.
  • That puts his account @ -$40
  • 10 days later PayPal finds in my favor and I receive $160, leaving his account @ -$40.
It is as simple as this, if he doesn't have the money in his account when the claim is escalated you won't see your money. PayPal is not going to pay you unless they get money from him.

*Disclaimer* This is a hypothetical example and does not mean that LogitechFreak is gay, purchased homesexual DVD's or that his mother engages in sex acts with animals.*/Disclaimer*

The shady part from what I've heard, however, is if/when paypal sends him to collections over the negative balance, even if they eventually get some part of that from him, you still won't see a penny :(

yep, it's the ugly truth about Paypal....there is no "protection" really.....and the fact that his paypal acct was already "unverified" means he did not have a checking account linked to it, which means if it's empty it really is empty, vanished, gone

and you can bet your sweet behind that he emptied it out as quickly as possible once the money was in it....sad truth it is

His Paypal account WAS verified and as several have stated, he has issued refunds, which leads me to believe he was either too slow to empty it all out and make a run or is simply in over his head.

The real issue here is whether or not he tries to resolve this or decides to cut and run. As has been stated, Paypal can only do so much.

EDIT - After going back and checking on Paypal, his account is Unverified Premier Member now. I distinctly remember it was Verified when I did my transaction with him about a month back; I believe it helped me get over that Negative Heat. Anyone care to confirm this? I would think that in light of this thread he somehow removed his bank account by closing it in Paypal or through his bank, but perhaps I'm mistaken. Either way, again I did get my money, so maybe he has some funds still in there, but perhaps not I guess...

i was just going off of what other people in this thread said about it...stating they noticed it said unverified....verified or not, if the money isnt there, it wont come back, linked to a checking acct or not, as long as he keeps money out of it, there will be no money coming from it, sucks like that

True, Paypal won't give any money that it can't leech from its clients, but a linked banking account would help to get those funds from elsewhere, even if it meant going through someone else, i.e. that bank or police or whatever.

Interesting, I could swear it was Verified when I paid him. Hmm...

well, if theres a legal route, i am sure if there ever was an acct linked to it Paypal would have to give it up if by court order, but the amounts i am seeing here aren't going to get anywhere i dont believe

maybe, just maybe if everyone all got together they might deal with it as one large sum and split up anything they can get

if nothing else, maybe the guy will get a criminal record as a result, seeing that through would be worth losing the money

FCUK!

Is THIS GUY REALLY A SCAMMER?

HE CONTACTED ME A FEW DAYS AGO TRYING TO SELL ME A BNIB SEAGATE 750GB SATA HDD FOR $120 WHICH WAS OBVIOUSLY "TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" BUT I STILL TOOK IT BECAUSE OF HIS STATUS HERE AND HIS "GOOD" HEAT....NOW I TRY TO PM THIS GUY FOR THE TRACKING # AND IT SAYS HE IS UNABLE TO RECEIVE PMS..

WTF IS GOING ON?

:confused::confused:

Lol, read the 16 pages of banter and find out for yourself. It isn't pretty. As to the PM deal, he's already been banned, but look for an Anandtech link for some contact info.

Oh and btw, the all caps is annoying.

I read most of it....and I think I get the gist of it...he's a scammer and we're all screwed right?

What can I do? I live in Canada.....I'm not gonna fly a plane over there to kick his ass...

I just filed a dispute with Paypal, and escalated it to a claim without giving him a chance..First thing tomorrow morning I'm calling up VISA to cancel the transaction if that's even possible...the problem is, how do I prove to VISA I got scammed if this was a private transaction and not eBay? Do I send them my private messages, and the thread links here that point to his scamming?

OMFG. I think this goes deeper then we can imagine. Every other hour I check this thread, and more and more victims turn up. I'm so glad his information is out there. I've counted 22 people so far.
What in the hell is going through his mind?

I cant even believe this is happening. Been dealing online here and other forums (I'm from Canada) for 4 years with over 80 transactions and I've NEVER had a single problem before. $85 isn't much but fcuk, I'd rather give it away to charity than to this scumbag.

Yeah, the victims keep piling up. This thread is longer than most of the ones I've browsed through on Anandtech and probably all of the ones combined on Hard right now.

I think it's either one of two extremes. Either he got way in over his head and simply crumbled under the pressure of buying and selling in such large quantities or he was actively trying to scam people. I'm starting to believe the latter even tho I was refunded. He may be trying to walk away with thousands. What's been throwing me off is the few successful transactions as a buyer and seller he had; even the neutral posted by Rippleeffect stated the stuff went through, just very smoky. If he truly has been trying to scam ppl of Ks now, then he must have been actively planning and setting up good Heat to throw the many people he's taken money from. <shudders> I don't know what to think anymore.

Godspeed to those up north and all over and nail this guy. 22 people should make a pretty legit argument to law enforcement and whatnot.

I'm also in the middle of a PayPal claim/dispute with LF.

I sent him money on the 10th, which was unfortunately two days before this thread got started. I did see the one negative eval on his heat, but given his response and the rest of the positive feedback, I felt alright dealing with him at the time.

I didn't notice this thread until after he had already been banned, so I was unable to contact him.

This is my first dealing with a scammer, so I'm taking the recommended route of filing/escalating on PayPal, and I plan to call the police as referenced in the anandtech thread. Just thought I'd speak up as another "witness."

Most likely what he was doing was using large scams to pay off the small ones to keep some sort of reputation. I dealt with him as DS and had some trouble but he eventually came through, after I hounded him for two weeks. He made excuses like he had to go to New Orleans with his church to help rescue efforts or something like that. Remember, he was banned a only a few months ago for this exact behavior. By paying off a few pissed off people with the money he was scamming from others helps him stay in his business longer. I wouldn't be surprised if he's been doing this for a long time. And I woudln't be surprise if he's not who he says he is and everything you guys know about him is completely false.

I stuck up for him once before because he came through for me. Now that he's back at his tricks again, I for sure won't do it this time.

For all those who got DC #'s, I just dropped off a package to be shipped eariler today and here's what USPS's tracking site says

Label/Receipt Number: 0306 1070 0004 7723 2420
Status: Acceptance

Your item was accepted at 3:37 PM on November 13, 2007 in CONWAY, AR 72032. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.
That's less than 12 hours after dropping it off. So two weeks and your DC #'s are still saying invalid or whatever, that's bullshit. USPS is slow at updating, but it's not that slow.

so i apparently got screwed too.

i bought an e6550 from him on anands for $130.

i have like 660 heatware...... and sadly one of his actual heatwares if from me.

i basically had a spare ATX case and sold it to him for basically $1 plus shipping (shipping ended up costing way more than i thought) about 4 months ago.

so the guy i gave a free ATX case for, apparently has likely also ripped me off for $130.

yes this is so awesome. to add insult to injury, i sold my e4400 (and shipped it already) since i was getting the e6550 and am using my webservers celeron 420 now. So i have a super slow computer to boot and a webserver that cant run AND im $130 poorer.

it sounds like he is for sure a crook and well yeah great fantastic.

godamn this guys like one of those serial killers you see on the news, nailed for 10 murders or so, and then after he's caught starts confessing to "everything"- and the victums list just keeps growing, and growing........

I don't mean this in a cruel way, but I think a lot of you guys are going to lean an expensive lesson on better trading practices:eek:

good luck, and to all victums: COORDINATE!

sounds like this guy did a lot of buying in the beginning to build up his heat, in order to reel people in for when he started "selling".

unfortunately, i am on of those people that sold to him, and it was a couple of small items listed in this thread. an opty 144 and thermalright xp-120.

it's unfortunate that people do this sort of thing, and it really seems like he was actually targeting people from canada.

GL to all, and i hope this guy gets what he deserves
