1) What will you be doing with this PC?
Gaming? Want to Max out WoW (I only play WoW other games do not interest me)

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included? 1000 shipped.

3) Where do you live? Near Syracuse NY

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
Everything but a Case, Monitor, keyboard, Mouse and Speakers

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Nohing

6) Will you be overclocking?
No

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have 2 Monitors, Res's are 1600x900 and 1920x1080. I mainly use the 1600x900

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP. Taxes are in and want to build in a couple days

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Nothing Im not going to Crossfire or SLI

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
No Need to Buy windows

I have no build plan in Mind. I did have a build started at one point but decided to Sell and use the funds for my daughter till Taxes came in. Its time to rebuild. I want to Stick with AMD unless I can build an intel setup around the same price.

was thinking maybe using this phenom x3 720 OEM for 109 and buying the cooler master hyper 212? wich totals $139.98 about 15 dollars less then the Retail with stock heatsink

lol jeez that was cheaper then the build i came up with. so the 5750 will maxx out WoW at wich Res? 1600x900? also do i need an aftermarket HSF is not overclocking? j/w sorry for the questions

will do. i was also concerned about the i3 being a dualcore when you can get the amd phenom x3 720 tricore for about the same price.

The 5770 isn't much more than the 5750, so if that's appreciably faster, then I'd consider it. It's almost as good as a 4890 (which is another option), but with better power figures.

I'd also wonder if a Quad-Core processor might be worthwhile? Maybe an i5?

Further to that, a larger PSU will allow for future upgrades.

Lastly, the 1TB F3 is an option if for some reason you desire more than 500GB.

I know this is a WoW-machine, but those points shouldn't be neglected in the decision-making process.

right and i understand what you are saying. The problem is, is that I do not play any other video game but WoW unless its on my PS3. I have no need for a 1T or even a 500GB HDD. I dont listen to music, watch movies or anything else in that matter.

what i came up with was this but my lack of PC knowledge this might not be a good build.

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3
CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition Heka 2.8GHz Socket AM3
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

$433.94

Im going to buy a used 4890 on the forums so im not factoring in the price of it in the build price.

Swap out the WD hard drive for this significantly faster hard drive:
$55 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

TBH, if it's only a machine for WoW and will never ever be used for anything else I would fetch a SSD, I have seen benchmarks that state the speed impacts WoW loading especially.

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3
Antec EarthWatts EA650
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition Heka 2.8GHz Socket AM3
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus

$448.94

im sorry Hels but i do not believe in SSD, SSD Prices are rediculas to me at the moment and until they drop significantly or they boost the Size for the price i wont invest. and As for the (4890) i found a couple on the forums for sale that are XFX for around 155 so im going to snag one of them

P.S. Right now I own a legit copy of windows xp pro 32bit. Is it worth the upgrade to windows 7 64? is it a bit gaming boost going to windows 7?

$155 shipped I hope. Even still that seems high for a used gpu thats only $35 more new IMHO.

well guys im sorry for wasting your time. been rethinking this build all day. feel like with the earlier build and the cash i got in my hand im shorting myself for cost/futureproofing

LG DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model GH24NS50 - OEM
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Subtotal: $572.94

i dont need crossfire so maybe you guys have another board in mind that will work for cheaper. and ill need a PSU that will run a single 4890 OR 5850

For WoW, absolutely go with a dual core CPU. The game has problems with Quads.

Personally, go with the Core i5-670. Fastest dual-core that I know of. And regardless to what some people say, ghz still matters in games, as much or more than cores, especially for WoW.

well i decided earlier taht if im going to spend the cash then i might as well build a system to play all games instead of just WoW. im still going to stick with my original Idea of 1000 shipped.

LG DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model GH24NS50 - OEM
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
(C3) AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Going to need a PSU for this build if anyone has any suggestions. Also I dont need Crossfire or SLI so if i can get a board that does a single card thats cheaper then om all ears

For the PSU, go for Corsair or Antec (non-Basiq), Silverstone, Seasonic, BFG (non-GS), etc.

The TX 650W in the combo is good, but overpriced, IMO. Though, there are MIRs that help offset that, if you're into those things. :p

Final Build is as is. Let me know what you think

GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB
LG DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model GH24NS50

Subtotal: $627.93

This is NOT including a video card. Im going to run a 4890 wich ill buy used on the forums.

If you want to save $15 up-front, then you can forgo the combo and get the board separately (which still has a $10MIR) and instead of the TX, get the EA650 for $75.

If you want a constant 60 fps in dalaran on a med- high pop server on full settings than the pc you want doesn't exist yet.

As far as general builds go most of the ones listed don't sound bad at all.

yeah i know about Dalaran but this is a big upgrade for me. Right now i game on a compaq presario Dualcore (bought at bestbuy 1 year + ago) really low end with an ati 4850, 3gb of ram. the pc runs WoW fine but i only get around 30 fps in dal.

isnt the corsair Modular wich is better? i dont mind paying for better

No, the TX is NOT modular, the HX is ($130 - $15MIR). Yes, the TX650 is a better PSU, but that doesn't make the EA650 a bad PSU. :p The EA650 would be more than enough for your build, and is a good quality, entry-level 650W PSU.

i didnt mean Modular i meant Single 12v Rail sorry its been along day. ive had the flu for 3 weeks now. ill stick with the corsair

you do know that SSD's have shown noticeable improvement in games like WoW, right?

a SSD is a good investment, even if you do buy one of the cheap ones

i do but i refuse to pay that price for the small amount of space you get. sorry man i know its a bad flaw to have but im a penny pincher

i do but i refuse to pay that price for the small amount of space you get. sorry man i know its a bad flaw to have but im a penny pincher

in that case, you could save some money by getting a board that uses ddr2 instead

i dont see how that is possible when DDR2 and DDR3 are pretty much even in prices.

While I respect your decision to be a cheap bastard, but if WoW is really the only game you play, you can squeeze Windows 7 and WoW on a 40 GB SSD easy and Intel has one for sale for $130 . . . . .

that's NOT a bad purchase for your needs

Windows 7 can be trimmed down to 8 GB by eliminating the page filing, which you won't need anyway with the RAM you'll be getting

not to mention Kingston had a deal where you could get a 40 GB Kingston SSD for $80 after a rebate

4LC4PON3 I thought you rebuilt your pc already? I remembered your kid poured liquid into your Antec 900 case and fried the pc. You still haven't rebuilt your system?
