Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 Discord Quest=1 Golden key.

https://www.ign.com/wikis/borderlands-4/How_to_Complete_the_Discord_Quest_in_BL4

1. Log in to Discord and Click on Discover > Quests. In here, you'll find the "Borderlands 4 Looter Quest." Click on "Accept Quest."

2. Click on the "Select a platform to get started" drop-down menu and select either "Quest on Desktop" or "Quest on Console," depending on which platform you're playing Borderlands 4 on.

3. If you're playing on PC, Discord should automatically detect you playing. But if you're on console, you'll need to select "Connect Console." A pop-up menu will appear, prompting you to select either PlayStation or Xbox. Do so, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your account to Discord.

4. Once connected, launch Borderlands 4 on your PC or console and play for 15 minutes (you can leave it idle on the main menu if you'd like). You should see your progress increase around the quest icon - this is how you know it's working.

5. After you've played Borderlands 4 for 15 minutes, click on "Claim Reward" under the Borderlands 4 Looter Discord quest. A pop-up will appear with your unique SHiFT Code, which you can then redeem on the SHiFT website or in-game for 1 Golden Key.

Let's be honest here though - Borderlands is a cartoon visual style game. Even if you could run 120FPS on 4K native with everything cranked up, it'll still be a cartoon visual style game. So why does it truly matter here if you're using FG & DLSS/FSR to get the framerate you're looking for?

It's a weird conundrum. I think what's getting people upset is that it doesn't look like it should need the kind of horsepower that it does. Whatever is happening under the hood is obscured by the Borderlands visual filters. It looks like it should run on almost anything, but it can't. It feels like a waste. I get it.
That said, I'd still tell anyone to fire up DLSS and framegen (if your hardware can) and try it out. I still find it weird those things are being straight up dismissed without even being tested out. Seriously, fire 'em up and see.

100%

Great game.

DLSS and framegen are settings in the game or in the nVidia Control Panel?

I'm looking at getting this game, just hoping my RTX-4080 FE, and AMD 9800X3D with 64GB DDR-5 can handle it? I play @ 3440 X 1440res

It's a fun game, I'm enjoying it, and I have no problem using DLSS and FG, but that doesn't not take away the fact that it's poorly optimized and requires a lot of horsepower and a lot of upscaling to run it.

We have similar setups and using DLSS quality and FG I get 130 fps, sometimes a little less on bad ass. The setting for DLSS super resolution override is not available in the app, instead DLSS 4 is baked into the game along with MFG, that would be FG 2X for us.

I'm running 4k on a gen older. Medium settings. Every new game comes with hardware justification, keeping, justifying prior purchase, or justifying new hardware. Just get the game and play. Life is too short to hem and haw over this stuff.

In the game. Like pretty much every game that offers them. With normal DLSS, you can choose different levels (focusing on quality vs. performance) and framegen is just a toggle.
The easiest way to find out if it'll work for you is to buy it on Steam and refund it if you aren't happy with it. For all of the weird performance issues this game might have, DLSS and framegen work really damn well. It's one of those weird things the long ass HU videos mostly bypass.

my only complaint outside of the performance are the number of missions/side things/whatever that you need to pick up an item and then must walk it half way across the planet to return it and can't fast travel..that shit is annoying as hell.

I am enjoying it. I think even after 7 hours and im level 14, I think its overall much better than 3 was.

You can fast travel, not to every location, but you should be able to at least get clloser, and you can drive, still faster then walking :p

THere are many things you have to pick up and ifnyou fast travel yoi drop it. I dont have have a vehicle

Was posted on previous page, but should be sung from the rafters. This might be the poster boy for lack of optimization in 2025.

As others stated, it's not as much that DLSS and framegen can make it perform at higher FPS, it's that the game for whatever reason is so unoptimized that even the second best GPU on the market cannot do 60fps at 1440p with the supposed highest visual quality. If the game had aesthetics and design, or a more subdued playing environment, that warranted such piss-poor performance then maybe it would be OK (like CP77 or Alan Wake 2, which still get 70+ FPS for 1440p with ray tracing).

The CEO being a fucking knob only furthers the embarrassment

Not sure if you've co-oped yet, but what's even worse is who ever is hosting the game, and let's say you find a new safehouse... It doesn't appear to save on the other joined players games... Basically, you need to stick to the same host game if you want all the bells and whistles that you've all unlocked together.

While I agree that the numbers are rough as hell for a game that looks like this, it runs smoothly on both of my systems even at 60-70 fps on my desktop at 4K (120-140 on laptop at 1600p). I’m also having a lot of fun, so as of now it’s really not taking away from the experience.

Pitchford has always been a piece of shit for as long as I can remember. I think he reached peak douche during Duke Nukem Forever and never came back down.
Aliens: Colonial Marines.

"After we did Borderlands, everyone was expecting a 9, but it was a 7-7.5, which I thought would have been fine for an Aliens game."

I don’t know but I am actually having fun with the game. Maybe I paid 40$ or maybe because it actually is good or maybe I don’t mind using FG because I don’t have a PCMR stick up my ass even though I own a high end PC/setup.

I am consistently getting 120-140 fps in the game and it never falters even with a lot of stuff going on screen. That consistency of performance has to be commendable. People need to get with the program. FG when it works is important and should be used. Whilst I am bummed about not being able to use DLAA, DLSS Q looks just fine. Plus FG artifacts are extremely minimal even when driving around in the hover bike.

So yeah.

I agree, it is a fun game and I'm enjoying it, but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that it is poorly optimized and takes the most powerful hardware to run. DLSS and FG shouldn't be used as an excuse to cover for poor development and a fucktard CEO. If you have anything less than a 4080, you're going to be struggling even with DLSS, FG and FSR , and that's at 1440P as well as 1080P. Plus you have a 5090, and have the ability to use not only MFG 2X, but 3X and 4X as well, so I don't think you 5090 users are the rule but more the exception.
Does anyone remember what Borderlands 3 did to GPU's when it first came out? The same thing that Borderlands 4 is doing to current GPUs.

Yeah I remember, I was running a 6900 XT and the game hammered my card, I couldn't even get 60 fps at times, of course this is shortly before FSR but still.

Really like how they brought back Ambient Music sounds from Borderlands OG that made the 1st game memorable.
I was surprised by the number of ambient sounds. That one caught me off guard. Very nicely done in this game and also Mafia Old Country.

Is he serious?

First off not everyone has an nVidia card, some use AMD or even Intel. And DLSS and FrameGen are mostly designed for the 5xxx and 4xxx series to get the best out of the tech. And this game is not "optimized 110% to the best of their abilities" It sure seems this game could use quite a bit more time being better optimized.

Another hot game release this year, was Doom The Dark Ages, that game on Ultra max settings runs smooth as butter for me, super fluid and looks great, and I only have a RTX-4080 FE card, I run the new Doom @ 3440 X 1440res and I'm getting high frames.

Bro can't talk about AMD coz nvidia sponsored them codes...

It's just a sock puppet posting as Randy I couldn't stop laughing for 2 minutes. Opportunity of to use DLSS is a dead giveaway it's not him.
He said people should stop giving him clown awards.

Only way I'm buying BL4 is two ways;

-There's actual real true "optimization performance patches" that actually address the major frame rate hog this game is on systems.

-Price reduction, no way I'm paying $70+ for this crap he rushed out before development was finished.
